We had a guest last year that used most of the PDS lifts with a fatbike and didn’t have any problems.

Yes you might have the right idea, why would you want to change your frame size?

I have a 5 and an Alpine 160, I have tried the 5 with 36s and to be honest the Alpine is a much nicer bike to ride with 36s on.

My girlfriend and I came passed you guys and this incident, we stopped and asked if everything was ok.
When we were in Chatel taking a coffee break, it suddenly occurred to me why had you not phoned for help, instead of sending somebody back on a 15 to 20 minute ride?

I can highly recommend “Ride Morzine” as a company and their chalet has just been refitted to a very high standard. As for the road riding it is excellent, not only are there several cols within a days riding, there is also the option of more rolling rides further down the valley

Yes I have spent a couple of weeks riding in the area north of Sisteron and I can confirm that there are some excellent trails and the relative tourist offices are very helpfull and are having quite a push on the VTT side of things. If you are after techy trails pick up one of the waymarked bike maps from any OT(office de tourisme) and head for the black routes, you will not be disappointed. As well as the maps being very good the trails are also marked very well and you dont have to spend too long scratching your head and looking at maps(the relative IGN map may help at times). The terre noire area around Digne les bains is also excellent and most of the positives from the Sisteron area apply to this area as well.

Johnhe- To get to the top of the col de cou from the top of the Mossette, either take the Swiss national or the singletrack that takes you to Chaux Palin. You then traverse around to Lapisa on a gravel road, take the singletrack from there to virtually the bottom of the col de cou. The Swiss side is pretty steep in places but it is rideable. There are 2 ways to get on to the ridge,if you want to ride the part in the photo, you will have to climb nearly to the top and make a left or alternatively about 3/4’s of the way up you can make a left and there is a trail that will take you out to the ridge. The best way in my opinion is to go to nearly to the top of the col.
You then stay on the ridge and follow the trail till you get to a cross, with a tricky step section from there you can’t go wrong.

We make this journey quite a lot and have done it both ways. If you are driving by yourself, I think via Hull is the best way and then down through France. You have a fairly short drive to Hull, overnight on the boat and then a full days drive down to Morzine. One of the down sides to this route is the cost of the ferry from Hull, we always travel in the “off seasons” and can get our van on a cross channel ferry(Calais to Dover) for less than 50 euros, which is significantly cheaper than the Hull to Zeebruge route.

I know that you are ruling out northern europe, but how about the GTMC from Claremont Ferrand to Montpelier,it is excellent, many off road with the vast majority on gravel but some excellent singletrack. We did it carrying tent, stove etc. and had no problems.

We have just completed the GTMC and although it isn’t “mountainbiking” it is excellent! There are several stretches of very nice singletrack and the felling of isolation is incredible. We rode the route entirely self supported, carrying a tent, stove and food for a couple of days at a time

jwh-we have also done your number two suggested route from Chamonix to Samoens-yes it a fantastic ride easily manageable in a day. I can also highly recommend the Samoens area for mountainbiking,we worked there this winter and as the snow was not the best,we managed a lot of exploring, discovering some very good singletrack, considering we have lived over in Morzine for the past few years,it was a real eye opener!

I am another one who has had money taken from my account after placing a CRC order last week.I used one of the £10 vouchers that was sent to me and yes a couple of days later a £15 payment to O2-slough was taken. I’m not even with O2!
Never had a problem with CRC before and hope that this is a one off.

Yes I have one which I’m willing to sell, but it is only a 16″ . Are you after the frame or the whole bike.I work for Endlessride and we have had 4 of these frames and can very much vouch for their versatility

The top part of that run is missing at the moment as they are shifting a massive amount of earth for the development on the other side of the hill. The bottom part can be easily acessed from the "swiss super highway" which leaves the col de joux verte and heads out to the bottom of the mossete lift

It's a new frame that Steve from Orange was riding on a trip from Verbier to Zermat.I don't know if it will see production but he was certainly liking it!
Yes it is a gravity dropper, they make great sense for this type of riding.
