Slackalice – Well done. You have submitted the best post of this whole thread.
Dr. J – We have no control over TTIP under the EU and all the GM food associated with it. That’s ok with you though.

Owen Jones – a twerp who thinks that being young gives you more insight into the issues at hand. Most of them will swing right with age, except those who don’t have the capacity.

In the 70’s the EU was called the EEC (European Economic Community) and was touted as an organisation that would free up trade and commerce between its members. Essentially it was anti-bureaucracy and became referred to as The Common Market. A good idea I think.
But how it’s changed. It now has powers to govern it’s members and ideas of becoming a superstate with a superstate army despite being undemocratically in power. It just baffles me how the left love it so much. It seems like some kind of Stockholm syndrome. No in fact I think that the left, bereft of any original thought, automatically line up in opposition to what it considers the extreme right as a default stance. People on here have even said just vote the opposite of IDS, Borris etc. Genius.

Modern tech. is a curse for kids. If you kick them out the front door to play outside, then chances are they will end up gaming around someone elses place. Organised activity is probably the best way to deal with this in todays world. My 12 year old son has football 3 days a week, will be sailing at his grandparents club every Friday evening and I will be getting him out cycling at least once a week when I’m recovered from a back injury.
That’s at least five days covered !

Sometimes it’s nice to kind of decipher the song yourself by listening to the track and watching the band play the song live on you tube. I could never find decent instruction for Beasty Boys ‘Sabotage’.

Yep, justinguitar, martyzsongs and anyonecanplayguitar are all excellent and free.
Get an electronic guitar tuner for about £15 if you don’t already have one, to keep the guitar in perfect tune.
Learn D and A chords first, then you can learn Jonathan Richmonds ‘Roadrunner’ a great two chord anthem . Search for this on youtube as a playalong.
Good Luck and have fun !

Little garden shed only needs 6 slabs, 1 in each corner + 1 midpoint of the longer sides. Clear the area, place the slabs with a bit of sand underneath for a flat base, check they sit about level and plonk shed on top.
    It’s a shed not the shard :-)

Why would you not wish to have 100% control of your own country and its interests ? I found Obama’s speech encouraging us to stay in the EU to be both insulting and hypocritical. He would never allow the US to enter into a similar arrangement with Mexico etc.
    OUT for me.

I used to use a BT call divert service for exactly this. It was £9 a year and you could activate and deactivate it by dialling a given number. I presume they still do it.

Gordon Browns tripartite system for deregulating banking was found to be one of the key reasons for Britain being so heavily hit in the last recession, according to a report by The House of Lords Economics Affairs Committee. Those claiming it was down to the Conservatives are plain wrong.

The bike looks great and I’m very jealous. Just a quick question on the blue colour. In some photos it looks kind of flat and dull, while in others it appears more lively and bright. How does it look in the flesh, as it were ?

Her stacking of the washing up on the draining board defies all logic. Starts with wine glasses as a foundation, then plates as the first floor and topped off with a stack of mugs, dishes etc ! I kid you f*****g not !
The sound of broken crockery is common in our house. The other day dinner plates were balanced on their sides between glasses and mugs !
She also likes to put chicken in the wok, full gas, then go and prepare the vegetables while completely ignoring the smoking chicken which inevitably sets off the smoke detectors. It’s called a stir fry for a good reason, so don’t abandon it !

The impact of mass immigration is real. My daughter started school two years ago and had to go to her third choice school due to intake numbers. The school that she started had to accept double the number of kids despite there not being a classroom to accept them. The solution – stick sixty kids into one classroom that previously held thirty and run two classes with two teachers side by side. Huge numbers of these families are Eastern European. Lots of the schools facilities including art and craft areas, open space and the trim trail area have now gone so that the ring numbers can be squeezed in.

Great work ! I think one of the big advantages of not having a derailleur would be that you could produce an enclosed drivetrain cover which would be fantastic for the British winter. Twenty minutes into a ride at Swinley, even at this time of year, and my chain is grinding horribly.
Surely I’m not the only one who’s sick of scrubbing drivetrains with a little brush after every ride !

Last years Commencal El Camino 650b = £357 ! That’s straight from them in Andorra via direct buy website. You can buy this whilst stoned and slouched on your sofa if you like.
If you become a keen MTB’er then a full suspension Bird Aeris kitted out with SLX components, Renthal bars and RockShox Pikes will be around £1600. Bargain. Some people may think it is a £4000 bike as you fly past.
    You’re welcome.

Back in the 90’s I used to ride with my brother and his mate around the Box Hill area and I loved it. My brother now lives in Oz and his mate moved away. Now I ride solo but would love to have others to ride with as I really miss the company/banter.
Anyone else who wants a riding partner around Swinley etc. , let me know.
I hope this doesn’t come across as too desperate

If running cable the supply cable externally just be sure to have a drip loop lower than the socket to prevent rainwater ingress. Cheers.

My bench is made from a 2 by 2 bolted to the wall, with a kitchen worktop sitting on top. The front has three legs of 3 by 3 prepared timber fixed to a length of 2by 2 which is screwed to the underside of the bench. Plus some bracing for the legs.
It’s been used for several years and is solid as a rock. Bolting to the wall is the best starting point for any bench. My bench has been used to hold steel tube whilst being heated and bent with a scaffold pole extension so it has probably faced the worst kind of abuse / testing !
My one tip would be to make sure that the holes you drill in the bench are exactly the same size as the holes in the vice and that you buy bolts that have a tight fit. You don’t want any freeplay here at all, as it only gets worse with age.
    Cheers.

This thread has inspired me to build a jeans and t-shirt bike out of an old Specialized Hard Rock in the back of the garage. Moto-x bars (which I also have), single speed freewheel and a fat comfy seat. It might catch on !

Just the other day I was on the verge of not going out due to the faff involved in getting the kit together. Then I thought **** it, and went out in what I was wearing – jeans, t-shirt and converse. It was fine and in fact the freedom of just riding with no faff, far outweighed any negatives of wearing incorrect cycling gear.
It’s playing in the wood’s on bikes, not the tour de France !
I did however forget to take any water as well. Muppet.

I did one a few years ago and it was a real success (honestly).
Don’t let the truth get in the way of good story. People want to enjoy your speech and have a good laugh so spice up any dull ‘thank you’s’ with outright lying and embellishment !
I knew I was going to be nervous as hell, so didn’t even bother to try to memorise the speech, I read it. This works if you read a bit and then look out at the audience, read bit more, etc. etc. Don’t place the paper flat on the table and then just steam through it with your head down.
After the laughter has died down, round of your speech with a syrupy heartfelt message to the bride and groom and jobs good ‘un !
    Best of luck.

Start small, don’t throw loads of money at it straight away. Work from your spare bedroom/garage if you can to keep the overheads down. Start up whilst still in your old job if you can. Then it’s just about working hard and presenting a professional image with a smile on your face.
Business plans with projected incomes are laughable bull…t designed to keep bank managers and others that don’t run their own business happy.
    Good Luck !

Did one last week. I Removed the old cups by knocking out from the inside (working around methodically} using a hammer and a drift made from 10/12mm steel cylinder.
The head tube on the bike, which is a Pinnacle Ramin, was really badly machined on the inside with ridges which prevented the new Hope headset from going in. I had to buy some of those tiny grinding tools which fit into the end of a drill and dress the inside of the head tube until it was nice and smooth. Then bashed the new cups in using a hammer and wood. All done very carefully to avoid writing the frame off !
    Good Luck !

My previous criticism was way too harsh. KLF’s What time is love was an absolutely huge anthem at the first raves. A lot of the more commercial stuff from that period still makes me nostalgic for those times when dance music and raves really felt like some sort of revolution. Dunno if kids will ever get to experience that kind of thing again. Shame.

The selection that you’ve gone for are kind of pop tunes that ran alongside the genuine rave scene of the time. Fine if that’s your thing…
For two tunes that build up and then, ‘kin ‘ave it, –

    Hard Floor – Acperience 1
    DJ Scott Project – U I’ve got a feeling

Great Idea for a post though !

Yeah, me. I tried once and did start to make lots of money, but the stress and ‘always at work’ mindset got the better of me. I’m just not cut out to make money and I’m far happier now that I have realised this and adjusted my life accordingly. Still living in the first world, so lucky anyway.

I have also done one of these courses at Brooklands in Surrey. I was already fairly experienced with Mig and used the course to get aquatinted with the black art of Tig welding. With regard to buying a Mig welder, just don’t buy gasless as they’re useless. Utter cack. Spend what you can, try to get one with a regulator for a proper gas bottle and buying a decent second hand professional one would be a good bet (Murex or Cebora).
    Just don’t buy gasless .
    Good Luck !
