Wouldn't have to be a big skid… The easiest way I'd say.

Think this prooves the variety of readings from different pumps!

I had exactly the same problem, yet haven't had a single puncture since going tubeless. Can't recommend it enough, but in my opinion it might only worth it if you ride at least once a week – to keep the sealant moving and pressure checked.

Great display from many today. Not least Nibali for doing on the dh what others wanted to do on the climbs.

    Fair play to Lance really.

Kloden can't respond to Schlecks and Bertie's push.
    Go Wiggo, Go!

The Schleks have it just like they wanted, but I don't think they can break Contedor…

Sastre put a good effort, and highlights how quickly and easilly things change.
I wonder if they ever consider running sealant?

So can Brad make up any of the minute or so that he has lost to Kloden?
Kloden, Lance, and Brad are all meant to be good dh.

Even so, 3rd and a stage win would be pretty nice!

Would you put money on him to win the TT tomorrow?

Wiggo is benchmarking himself against Armstrong, who he'll see as the bigger threat in the TT tomorrow. Doing well too.
A Schlek and Contedor are 20s up the road.

    Sastre's dropped back…

We'll see a bit later, but anybody think that the whole "Contedor is too strong" thing is a very clever ruse? Armstrong used to be a master of tactics and game play. Is he having us all on?

Contedor thinks that everyone will be attacking him given the opportunity. It'd be interesting to see Kloden attacking being used as a distraction.

Wiggins should have an ok chance today without a summit finish.

I’m 6’3” and am strongly considering selling my only remianing 26er. Think you should definately give one a try if you are tall, and you’re in to normal riding rather than rad stuff.

I’ve had a ss rig 29er for about 18months, and rode my 29er Scandal for the first time at the weekender. The rig was fun, but the Scandal is the best bike I have ever ridden. With gears you can really appreciate some more of the benefits – I was amazed by the traction while climbing on steep stuff, the front wheel doesn’t lift too easilly. Yet with a shortish (70mm) stem and wide flat bars the bike is lovely to jump about and maunual – I was clearing the doubles etc.

    Maybe demo one?

Cheers for the help guys. In the end I managd a very neat bodge to hold the axle back – I’ll maybe get a photo one day.

Essentially it’s an m6 nut at the front of the slot dropout, held in place by a zip tie. One each side makes putting the wheel back in a doddle!

I’ve been getting loads of pinch punctures recently, so gave tubeless a go on the rear for the first time at this event. Burped air out on my 1st dh practice, so tried more pressure and it ran sweet from then on – despite smacking the rim a couple of times.

Great event – possibly best ever? The XC course made the whole thing for me, depsite the hangover.

Nice to see some peeps managed to get photos of me on my bike too. One in the air on the XC, and one shouting with excitement on the DH.

Not small, but moving house. Coventry to Taunton is like hell to heavan.
Proper small changes – new front mech and new grips.

I’d thought that my old XT front mech would last forever until I removed it and realised how bent it was. No more blaming the mis-shifts on cheap chainrings!

Or find an off-road route instead.

I’m amazed that people start riding on full-sus, but I geuss the prices are such nowadays that most people will think ‘why not?’. Truth is that you’ll develop trail skills on a hardtail, which will make you ride much better when you upgrade to FS.

I’ve swapped between the two over the last 10yrs. I ride faster on FS, but have just as much fun on a HT.

Conversely, riding FS for a while will make you a better HT rider too – I find it makes me more confident at speed, and you look at the terrain differently. I’m currently HT only as they need less looking after.

Cycles do not cause traffic obstruction – they are traffic. People tend to rant at cyclists, when they take up less space on the road, and usually travel quicker, than tractors, diggers or horses. Cyclists are just a vunerable target, so despite being in ‘the right’, be careful and considerate.

I personally enjoy some variation, and am currently very happy to be exploring the wealth of trails that the UK can offer.
If you are getting bored, I can heartilly recommend buying a completely different bike. If you’ve been ragging it in the alps on a Patriot (for example), then it will naturally feel a bit tame back in England. Maybe try something different, like a rigid singlespeed (again, for example. Other bikes are available).

Taking either single our double rear seat out is a good option for you, though the double may be a bit cramped for two adults. Thinks they’re relatively easy to bolt back in though…
