Will just add that I just purchased a paper subscription for a friend today for a Christmas gift as he is not really the type who would read on-line.

I've got a digital subscription to Bike mag. It was $12 for a year and seemed worth while to try it out. I'd never buy the actual magazine, but for that price its brilliant to read whilst on the train/plane when I've got a spare 30 minutes.

The reading takes a little while to get used to, but its actually quite OK once you get used to it. Note that Bike have their own digital reader and not PDF.

I'm seriously considering getting the digital version of ST so that I can read the back copies, and because then I can justify buying The Ride and Rouleur 😉

"Having overtrained in the past my principle is it's better to turn up to a race a little undertrained than overtrained."

    Excellent advice!

A rest week every 4 is very tried and tested formula.

Tapering should be done at the same intensity but at a reduced load, this is quite commonly over looked.

    Highs
Getting back into biking after almost 10 years away
Completing 103km mountain bike race, (all be in a very unmountainousness Denmark)
A surprised revival in UK "made" steel frames

    Lows
Realizing that both disk brakes and suspension have come on loads since I was last riding and consequently I need to get me some, now
Pricing up semi bling builds and falling over the final cost

I'll be hunting down new tracks to ride in the forests where I live.

Looking at around zero degrees tomorrow, so plenty of warm clothes. Snow forecast for next week!

Unfortunately he stands no chance as he is perceived to have finished miles behind the leader.

    Still great he got nominated.

    Button hands down favorite.

Quick hijack. Returning to the MTB scene after some time out. What's the deal with Pace and DT? Did one buy the other or what?

DT where just introducing their spokes last time I looked…..

Many thanks for the replies guys. I'll have to finish the upgrades to the brakes first then look around. I guess I could always go new frame with solid forks and then move to suspension later on.

That's a really nice looking Singular! How do disk brakes work with racer style brake leavers? Aren't disk brakes hydraulic?

Please stop posting pictures of that bike Sam, its bad enoug that I have to see it each time I open the latest copy of The Ride. The family will simply not understand why the Christmas fund is now set aside for a bike frame.

How are the rules regarding racing 29ers in the UK?

The one event I did this year, the Merida 103KM in Denmark, stated that 29ers were not allowed. Is this common?

    Thanks for the reply.

PDF is by far the simplest and cheapest technology solution.

Will the offline digital version be able to integrate with the Zinio application that I use to read the US based Bike Mag?

I got my 80's last week and think that they are excellent.

Size wise I normally take a 44 but went with the 45 after trying a pair on in a shop over here, they came in a little tight.
