Thanks for the link to the Shutt gear, very nice looking, might well be worth investigating further.

Agreed about the comment that Rapha looks well priced when compared to Pearl/Assos/Gore etc.

Hincapie do a retro top that is similar in style to Rapha, but not that much cheaper.

Once I order a new frame I'll build up the current bike as a rigid with all the spare parts I've got. It'll make a perfect second bike for leaving at the station or loaning to friends who visit.

Seriously thinking about a Pipedream Sirius in black with silver Hope headset, seatpost binder, QR's, etc etc. So post away and convince me with these lovely Soul's.

    Very nice build!

Where can you buys the frames from in the UK as Voodoo only has Halfords down on their distributors list, and Halfords only show complete bikes on their web site?

Not sure steel and lightweight really go together, but as posted before the Inbred is the best bet

Many thanks for the input guys. To answer a question near the top, I ride mainly XC/enduro races and the standard 3 hour weekend blast when I'm not racing. All on the same bike.

Interesting, I was going on the XX ratios. I race a fair bit but hardly ever use the outer but feel I spin too much in the middle. Lazy shifting perhaps, but I feel two rings would be perfect.

As you say 22/36 might be more suitable.

Arhh, just read James's reply, thanks. cleared that up then.

Thanks, so basically I remove the middle and outer rings and then mount the new outer ring on the inside of the outer spider and use shorter bolts. Leaving me with a granny ring and an outer ring which is closer to being where the middle was.

Seriously want one of these now after reading this thread, the STW write up last month and a little googling here and there.

Looks like a really good second bike to have around for when the main one is in pieces. Hmm Evans sell 'em and do mail order for £40 to Sweden, not too bad.

"When we started off I didn’t feel too bad, then at the bottom of the Turchino, as we were fighting for position, I got three spokes ripped out of my wheel," he explained to gazzetta.it in a video interview.

"I had to do a wheel change at the bottom of the Turchino. I chased and right at the top I got back to the peloton but then there was a crash in the peloton on the tunnel. I started the descent and normally I'm a good descender. The peloton was in ten groups down the descent and I went through all the groups, boom, boom, boom, and into the second group but I think there was already 40 up the road."

My forks arrived yesterday, one day ahaed of schedule and they actually found my house, which is more than DHL and UPS have done.

    Top marks.

Somebody recommended http://www.parcels2go.com to me last week. They were half the price of Royal Mail when shipping forks from the UK to Sweden.

They should be here on Thursday, so I'll wait until then before giving a whole hearted thumbs up.

As exampled here, myself included, most people use a HR monitor to compare like for like sessions in order to analyze whether their fitness level is improving. The more sessions you do the more reliable the comparison.

They are a fascinating tool that can be both helpful and destructive in equal measures.

The fat burning level quoted is the minimum amount of exertion needed to burn fat, not the most efficient. The harder you train the more you'll burn. Anything else is an urban myth.

The majority of people will not benefit greatly from training with a heart rate monitor. They are of use to those who train on a daily basis to help them not over train and those with programs with specific heart rate zones. This I assume to be the minority.

Interesting question. I ran 1.25 for a half last year and clocked just over 4 hours for a 100KM mountain bike race. I'd say the level of *uckedness was about equal. Although I came off a much more specific running background than biking

The pipedream sirius looks like an interesting frame, good price when compared to other 853 rivals.

Although I think the seat tube, top tube, stay mounting looks a little untidy as the stays join the seat tube at a point higher than the top tube.

OK semantic wise I use downhill to mean Steve Peat type riding, thus requiring a FS bike, whilst XC to mean Liam Killen and HT suitable.

Could well be too much, an hour cardio a day, without a background to support that level of training could lead to injures.

Training without a goal will normally lead to a loss of interest after a while

If you've only been training "regularly since Christmas", and you're now training most days, then quite possibly. However it depends on whether the training is structured and what your goals are.

It's not F1, its pottering about on a bike. No tyre will grip on wet roots, so stop making excuses for being rubbish.

That's the best things I've read on this forum, brilliant. 😀

Thanks Timmo, at 6,2" and liking a long bike I guess I'll need a large, although I alwaýs like the look of a bike with a lot of seat post out of the frame.

Start a buying and selling feedback thread.

After each transaction that takes places add a post saying what you brought/sold and a quick summary, e.g. quick payer/posted before money was cleared. Goods as described.

Keep the thread as a sticky at the top of the classifieds forum. Self regulation works well.
