Downsides are that nobody has a spare front wheel you can use if you trash yours on Friday warm up and need to race Saturday, and that nice Thule roof rack needs an adaptor to fit the Lefty. Otherwise they are/can be blindingly fast and fun.

Love mine, raced the hell out of it. Bought as I wanted a true XC hardtail and a Lefty and this was the cheapest way of getting that in a new bike.

Upgraded just about everything apart from the frame and forks.

No problems with the clamp on my Suunto, had it since they released them, so about two years now I guess.

The best bit is that it connects over bluetooth to my phone so I don’t need to get he pc out to sync it.

This is killer functionality in the newer devices that makes me want to upgrade.

The V60 Ocean Race Edition is lovely. (But I’m slightly biased.)

The altitude gain/loss is quite useful if trail running, its something I like to know, especially when running longer distances in new areas.

I have the Sunnto Ambit 2, great bit of hardware.

I use it for trail running and it gives me all the info I need and I have customised the screens to show me the data I want.

I have not tried any type of navigation with it.

The biggest downside, and for me this is massive, is that to get the data off the watch you have to connect the watch to your PC/laptop via a proprietary cable, use their SW, and the PC/laptop has to be connected to the internet. Then it uploads everything to their Movecount site where you can then get access to it. This might be an issue if you want to get your data via a works computer (lunchtime run, working away), where installing of non standard software is restricted.

This is unlike Garmin devices which can be seen as normal USB drives when connected to a PC/laptop and the data exported accordingly.

3.8W/kg a couple of winters ago, to around 4.5W/kg at the start of this season.

Then I decided to start running again 😯 so its probably back to about 3 😥

I get them from various club feeds, no big deal.

I also give them, (rarely and only for running), for efforts of suitable epicness

My red ones are somewhat less red now than they were when I put them on new at the beginning of the year.

Was that onsight or would he have walked the course, or bits of it beforehand?

Damn impressive either way, my brain doesn’t compute quick enough to see the lines he’s taking.

    New ALR looks nice njee……

Well it all has to match, 3t for the solid if boring choice, got it on my cross bike and it’s all good.

Deda make some nice stuff but it’s not normally light, my road bike kit.

Ritchey is good call, light, nice looking, carbon, although not cheap.

The Zipp stuff has left me somewhat underwhelmed.

The Fizik option is a little unusual, would definitely look into that, matching saddle option too!

It’s all getting a bit careless on the batting front. Still plenty of hope for our bowlers given the conditions.

Bora’s are stunning wheels, but very expensive. I’d really a like a new pair of the clincher version just released, but I can’t justify the cost.

Note that the new 2016 wheels are wider so there are some bargains to be had on the older tub version.

Campagnolo Zonda wheels are a good upgrade over standard issues ones and can be had on offer at sensible prices if you don’t fancy going the hand built route.

However I’d say you need to decide what you want to improve and go speak to a good builder like Strada, as they’ll be able to help you out.

so I suspect autonomous driving, on motorways at least, is only a few years away.

    Next year hopefully! 😀

but they will need to download new map data, maybe traffic info, software updates etc. and maybe upload diagnostic data so they will be connected. The map/satnav system will have to communicate with the car controls so I would have thought the opportunity for hackers is there.

All that functionality is available today, for example in Volvo on Call, amongst others.

As I said before, the need for connectivity comes from the need, legal or otherwise, to inform the car as to when and where autonomous driving is allowed or not. Whilst not requiring a fixed connection, the ability to check each road segment requires a pretty good level of connectivity.
