I use a race cape by Shutt VR, quite good water proofing, doesn’t breath too well, alows poeple to still numbers/kit/sponsors, packs down well.

Second the gillet option mentioned above.

Massive gearing for a 5 year old, looks like a 50 odd tooth front ring! 😀

Like it though, needing to get my 5 year old something similar for the spring.

Condor Cycles do a few in their range, worth a look.

    Dreadful post, light though.

Could never easily adjust the angle or saddle position using it. I too had the older two bolt version.

    UCI rules state:
1.3.012 A bicycle shall not measure more that 185 cm in length and 50 cm in width overall.

3 Peaks have their own rules but also define a max component width of 50cm. (Interesting to see they allow disk brakes now)

However are you planning on doing a UCI race or the 3 peaks? Most races would be fine with those bars, IMO

IceBreaker stuff is excellent, although I find them not particularly technical in their cut.

I love the look and the idea, but they do seem quite pricey for what they are.

For life via Trek, and I tested it this year too. Excellent service to boot. 8 days from dropping the frame off to having a new one back home.

New wheels and tyres would drop a load of weight and improve the ride noticeably. My training wheels come in at around 1500g + tyres and they are very strong, (Shimano Ultegra).

No experience with PlanetX wheels, but I’m sure they’d be fine and plenty strong enough.

Carbon forks with a carbon steerer would also likely drop some weight but they are rarely had for £200.

The cross bibs are warm, yes, however it seems their normal ones are warmer still.

“Providing the same unrivalled fit as Rapha’s regular ¾ Bib Shorts, the cross version use a lighter, thinner fabric more suited to cross racing”

I love my Rapha cross ones, excellent fit and feel, strong, good padding, and warm. Its about the only bit of non club kit I still wear.

On sale as well as the moment.

I’ve got the US based CX magazine on digital subscription as well as STW.

The downloadable PDF’s are nice but I can’t get the pages to match the layout in the magazine for showing two page wide pictures.

The app for CX magazine is really quite bad, as is their slowness to release the digital edition after the paper format has been published.

I’m British by birth, its just that I’m living aboard. Its more of a question of whether there are qualifying rounds etc, travelling for one race would be OK, doing a whole series a little impractical.

I raced the Swedish national a month or so back, and then tried and failed to watch the US nationals via the internet last night.

Would love to race the UK ones one day. Not sure how I’d go about qualifying though.

Thanks I was hoping it was that simple. Signed up for free and will see what happens.

What’s different about the paid verion?

How does it recognise segments, simply by GPS? E.g. if I incorporate one or more on a route will it record each one without me having to do anything?

Can I create a segment afterwards when I upload my route?

My five year old rode without stabilizers this weekend. He’s had a balance bike for some time now and decided this weekend to ride his big bike properly.

I was expecting a whole day of tears, falling down, and tantrums, (and that was just me), but he simply got on it and rode away, leaving me utterly gobsmacked!

Bought my wife one last year, (2010 model in the sales), great bike which she really likes.

Seems to be quite a few options for that type of bike, flat bar, disk brakes, commuter/green lane tourer.

Nice bars those Zipp’s, looked at them when I bought my 3T stuff. Very good at that price too. Try and get the stem to match as well.

Agree with Blazin completely here, if you need a 36 then its quicker to run

Caad road bikes are very well thought of, so I should imagine their cross bikes are also worth looking seriously at.

Take a 105 groupset every time.

Last race today, (public holiday here), after an intensive season. Carbon wheels and tubs already ordered for next year. It’s going in for a service and a little “blinging up” on Monday.

Training with the Swedish National team on Sunday so should be shown up completely then.

That stem looks like its in another time zone to the rest of the bike!

Nice to build up a bargain though, have fun

You’d need the Enve tub not clincher rims, but ooh so nice.

Curious, did you not consider a one piece stem and bars from Potts, think that would have been extremely nice?

    TYRES – Still undecided????

Surely some Dugast tubs with a build list like that!

    Very, very nice.

Ultegra or SRAM equivalent is fine

Definitely leave is set-up. I have my mountain bike permanently attached to the turbo with a slick tyre on a spare wheel so I can jump straight on it, whilst my cross bike has slicks on so I can use my rollers. It makes everything so much easier.

At the moment I plan to race one more season with canti’s then when the big boys bring out proper integrated hydraulic brakes/shifters, (2013), I’ll change. At that point it will most likely be electronic shifting as well.

Just been out for a ride, minus degrees, loads of frozen puddles, but the sun is shining. Fantastic to be out there not worrying about HR zones and times but just riding ’cause its cool to do so.

My fitness has improved by 20%, my technical riding ability has improved by an even greater amount. Looking for the same improvement levels next year as well.

Are people using Ralph’s on the front, I have always used them on the rear?

    Interesting comments guys, thanks

    Very kind of you njee20.

Would like to try one on the front so might just bite the bullet and get one and see.

I’m going tubelesss this year and thought I’d use the excuse to find something more confidence inspiring than a NN up front.

More short intensive intervals and a lot more technical improvement for me.

They get easier with practice. I can now stand up and pedal, (honk), whilst like you I thought I’d never get it hang of it after the first session.

Two sessions of 25 km on the rollers done, 130 planned tomorrow and the the same again the day after, so I might just make it.

Like that a lot, (less so from 28-30 secs).

How much actual footage was needed to create it?
