Was it wrong (arrogant) for GB to put all their eggs in one basket?

I thought they’d put Stannard in break

Only you can answer if they’re worth it.

I’ve been buying Rouleur for years and re-read each issue a few times, so for me its worth it.

However I tested the first few issues of Privateer and didn’t really get it as I felt the the format didn’t transfer to the off road world.

I do at least three sessions on my rollers a week come rain or shine.

    A couple of examples:

Session 1: 12 minutes warm up including some sprints, then 4 * 4 minutes with 2 minutes recovery. Working at 115-120% of FTP, or roughly 92% of max HR per interval.(for me 350 watts)

Session 2: 5 minutes warm up then 2 * 20 minutes * 90 of FTP, of roughly 80% or max HR per interval.(for me 280 watts)

56 or 58 depending on the angles, your flexibility and stem reach etc. Best try one.

I’m roughly the same and have a 56 crossbike that doubles as a road bike in summer, however I’d get a 58 if were to buy a Canyon or Cannondale road bike.

I hired one of those btwin bikes earlier this year when on holiday. Rode 60km including 1600 meters of climbing. It performed very well, which is more than I did on the cat one climb I encountered.

Engima for the fancy route, quite a few ali frames look retro and can be had with Campag, like the De Rosa Milano. Worth investigating as not all frames built with the same material ride the same.

Even better, I use the Ultegra’s as training wheels on my cross bike and they are excellent

At that price Shimano wheels are excellent, something like the RS20, http://www.wiggle.co.uk/shimano-rs20-clincher-wheelset/

is there a way of estimating power based on time vs distance?

Too many variables for it to be accurate, hence this thread on the Strava estimations. The only thing to go by is the Strava power readings with a lightning bolt next to them, as this indicates a PowerTap, SRM, Power2Max etc was used.

    Mine is 5.27w/kg

that’s some serious fitness if that was an FTP value!

You can get some idea of where you’d sit from this chart: (http://cozybeehive.blogspot.co.uk/2008/02/power-to-weight-ratio.html)

Way too generous numbers IMO, interesting though

My FTP is currently 4.3 w/kg, I’m OK but not much more.

    Peter Segan’s last 2 minutes of his stage 1 win equated to 2:20 @ 6.8 w/kg, Jani Brajkovic put out 443W, or 7.3 w/kg:

    PSA: Creation Watches 5% off.

Ordered a couple of Japan made Seiko’s over the last few months, excellent service and a good price.

If it were for racing then I’d buy a Canyon Aeroad CF 8.0, here

However I’d also like an Enigma elite with Campag and handbuilt wheels, which could also be had for around 2.5K here

Two completely different bikes, horses for courses.

    Race set up is 40T * 11-27, 10 speed.

If I were to use it in a more casual trail set up then I’d run a double at 34/46.

There is bike at one of the local shops/clubs that has two chainsets, one on the left and the other on the right side of the bottom bracket. They are connected but there is a +/- 10 degree gap between where the crank arms aligned, meaning if you press down without pulling up eqaully on the other you get a load banging noise.

Bloody fantastic for teaching a smooth technique!

Despite have both regional and nationally ranked riders, the majority of our clubs press, and therefore sponsor exposure comes from the junior riders.

Putting on races also provides excellent visability.

What are you looking for, and what are you providing?

Assume you’re looking for the 2013 season as its halfway through the current one.

What races are you planning on doing, at what level, and what are your expectations, how many regional/national champions will you have?

Getting sponsorship is about writing a business plan explaining what any potential partner would get out of a relationship.

Rollers rock, light, easily stored, quiet, up and running in seconds, and give plenty of resistance.

I do anything between 2 * 20 minutes, 4 * 4 minutes, or tabata sessions on mine without issues.

Hard to put down into words, I just know through experience. If I do feel like that I’d rest and eat, eat loads. Then do a controlled session say a day after and compare the numbers. Raised HR or poor power then rest more, else continue.

is it viable to ride out of the saddle on rollers?

Yes, although it took me a while before I felt confident enough to do it

Use them three times a week as they allow me to concentrate on sustaining a set power output without the hassle of uphill’s and downhill’s getting in the way.

Took me a handful sessions to get used them

Only when racing, one every 45 minutes. Both Sponser and ZipVit are good, and both do sample packs so you can try cheaply before committing to a large box.

You can make a segment from any part of a recorded track so just move the start/end points to start/end of a lap. Bosh.

Thanks, it’s just that the laps do not show up on the overall map with start and stop points, and the track for the individual lap does not have a make segment option.

Small issue in an otherwise good service
