Course looks great on the Swedish coverage we’re getting. The rock garden is being hit at some serious speed.

Odd that they’re showing the riders in the group by their start number not their actual position.

With his statement about wanting to compete on the track at Rio it would be hard for any team to accept his absence from the road to prep for that.

However OPQS seems most likely if he were to.

The UCI can claim back the earnings of any cyclist found using dopage, think of the income it would receive from busting Lance! Maybe they realise just how good the case is against him is and want in.

and any books worth reading about power training beforehand?

I’ve found this site interesting: http://www.training4cyclists.com

If you’ve got a limited amount of time to ride, are dedicated to training as a means to get quicker then power meters are a huge help.

However like all training schedules they can take the fun out of riding, (if your idea of fun is not interval training). Most people would gain more by simply riding longer and quicker.

I bought a PowerTap at the start of the year and have been using it consistently to monitor my training. As a numbers person I find at a real aid to training at the correct intensities, which were often higher than I imagined.

If you know your FTP then riding 2 * 20 minutes at just below that twice a week will improve your power a lot. reference[/url]

I went from doing that session in late Feb at 3.5W/KG to 3.8W/KG in three months but with my average working heart rate decreasing from 160 to 154 per interval.

As a reference I’d say I’d be mid pack expert at MTB, somewhere near njee20, course depending

    Numbers, love ’em.

By all acounts the 2013 Sora is very close to 105. Bikes at that price would benifit a lot more by throwing the extra 150 pounds at the wheels than the groupset.

36t cassette is way to big for racing, as mentioned it would be quicker to run if you were using that ratio

Why stupid, many pro’s and weekend racers run 1 * 10?

    I do, 12-27 * 42

    From the Guardian live text
“Stuart Hayes has also revealed that Alistair Brownlee …
… wants to do the 10,000m and the men’s triathlon in the 2014 Commonwealth Games.”

    Wow! Simply wow!

3T stuff is excellent, I use it on my cross and mountain bike. Their basic Pro range is very nice. 3T is Italian so would suit the De Rosa nicely IMO.

Zipp, Ritchey, and Shimano’s PRO range are also worth looking at.

If you’re thinking or racing then I’d say look at the Boardman range, as weight is key in cross, and as nice as those bikes are, they do weigh a fair amount.

The IOC do not get give any out but national federations might, sport dependant, and an athletes may have have a performance contracts with some of their sponsors.

For instance Liam Killian would almost certainly have something in his contract for top 10 places in OS, World Champs, and World Cups from Giant.

10,000 hours is the standard quoted, although this has not been proven as there are so many exceptions, e.g. elite level after “just” 3000 and non elite after 25,000.

I also think that number is based on chess and darts. There was a British Journal of Sport Medicine podcast on that subject a few weeks ago for those interested.

With road bikes at well over that price, something with suspension front and back seems quite good value really

Didn’t the commentators mention this as a loophole the other day in the road race. France were entering lots of riders in different categories so they had a bigger pool or something?

No JC Peraud quailfied in his own right with top 20 finishes in a number of world cup races.

It was their sprinter that needed to start in the road race so he could race the madison/kerin on the track. (can’t remender which one, someone correct me)

There is a great POV film from Levi Leipheimer descending off road with Lance, both of thm have won the Ledville 100 off road race.

Isn’t the MCC still a male only club. (Cricket)

Can imagine there are a fair few drinking establishments in the St James’s area that are still men only.

Have to say that I thought Miller’s tweet was rather odd, if Cav had the legs then get him the break even if it means blowing all support and let him fend for himself.

Try the “imaginary aerobar” positioin in a BCF race and they will pull you out for dangerous riding and acting like a bell end.

    regardless of Cat? Serious question.

Its damn hard riding those ‘imaginary aerobars’, I’ve been trying on a few training rides, (inspired by a certain D Miller).

There are no official categories, its up to each race director to state what cat the climbs are. Hence why KOM points are available in the flat stages of the Tour over lumps that would even be recognized at foothills a week later in the Alps.
