Powers finsihed 7th in Tabor WC round 1, then crashed on the first corner in round 2 and never got back on and got pulled.

    CrossVegas in 9 days!

See getting motivated just talking about it, good thread!

I like the BtB films, to be fair to Powers top 20 in UCI events is hardly getting “schooled”

Club training has started, regional series in a few weeks, national series from October.

One MTB race left then its full on CX. Not yet 100% motivated but no doubt it’ll come after the media rush of CrossVegas.

+1 for Joe Friel, his site and MTB Bible training book have a fair few sections for the elder racer

Max HR is also sport specific, so your running and cycling ones may be very different.

Those two frames are listed as having Enve forks, which are what? 400 quid, so not a totally like for like comparison

Anybody had any dealings with Wheelsfar as there are some very nice looking wheels on their site?

Looks like a Niner Air, which is no bad thing

Hurts like hell, you’re feel crap the next day so don’t try one the Thursday or Friday before a race.

I found them much more crucial for performance when I was running than I do now when cycling.

I’ve got given a medium KMP top and it fits well, I’m 6.2″ with a 40″ chest and its not that much bigger than my club racing top.

    So spot on IMO

When I think of roadie I see someone out on a cold wet morning on a winter road bike, properly wrapped up, getting the miles in.

+1, its all too easy to ride when the sun’s out

Well that just cost me a hundred quid, thanks for the link frogstomp, been looking for a half jacket with a hi yellow lens for a while. Perfect for the cross season.

Run intervals, 12 mins warm up, then 4 * 4 minutes off 2 minutes recovery.

Job done and welcome to the weekend.

Question 3 is poorly conceived as there is one answer, (all be it multiple choice), but it needs to relate to multiple answers in question 2, therefore you end up checking all the options without any reference to which specific question 2 answer they apply to.

Lack of dynamic range in modern recordings explains a lot.

Our Forester has been brilliant in the harsh winters over here. Would buy another quite happily.

I cracked the display on my Garmin 500. I rung them, paid 64quid and they replaced it for me, a lot better then 150quid for a new one.

    Worth calling them I’d say

I’m also 6,2″, however that is only half the story as road bike measurement is very dependent on arm, torso, and leg length.

I ride a large Ridley which has a long top tube, (585).

    I’ve ridden a 60cm Cannondale CAAD10, it was OK but out of choice I’d ride a 58.

Get out and ride, it’s all good.

Classic newbie roadie error: ride the uphills too hard and the downhills too easy

So PRO, it was a tub not a tube, swoon!

Six Pro teams are listed as using Look pedals, ironically Garmin use Shimano, so expect a new spindle out soon.

However with the UCI weight limit many riders use an SRM as it adds weight, so if the Vectors are lighter then it may mean adding more lead to the BB.

They were developed originally for Speedplay before Garmin bought the rights/company.

DCRainMaker’s review, (which he stated wasn’t), of the Garmin Vectors is still more detailed and informative than any “real” review will be. Interested to read his long term test on them.

Personally I went for a PowerTap and use it mostly on the rollers for controlled interval sessions, this winter I’ll be adding TrainerRoad to the mix which will hopefully up the game again.

For the inexperienced racing oriented cyclist looking to optimize their training then power meters are very very useful. I’ve used mine for a couple of seasons and now “know” how my body should feel at different levels, which maybe an experienced racing cyclist would already know.

When I manage that Micheal Stipe look and friends and family start to comment, then I know I’m at racing weight.

As other have said, if your weight is stable and you’re able to train and function normally then there is nothing to worry about.

6,2″, 11,4 stone, and as low body fat as I can manage without getting ill, (middle of the racing season), I’ll go up to 11,6 when not racing, so not much difference, hence the stable comment.

For a pure test bike then nothing beats a Monark 828

However I’d second the idea above with a power meter, rollers, Sufferfest, and Trainer Road.

Back to work after 5 weeks vacation.

Lunch time run planned in half an hour, intervals, nice. Meetings this afternoon, MTB session tonight.

    Normal Tuesday really.

I average 1000m of climbing for every 80km ridden, normally between 30 and 34 kph

Nice UCI legal flat tri bars though 🙂

Yeah it is tall. The frame was built for classics courses not GT riding, with Pozatto placing at Roubaix on one. Makes it very easy to ride for long periods on the drops, as well as allowing for a slammed stem 🙂

    Absolute steal at Wiggle atm!

Standard 105 out the box, bog standard wheels, and nice Deda finishing kit.

Plenty of planned upgrades but nothing that needs doing straight away.
