Just a handful of miles left for the leading two boats, been a very interesting battle to watch play out.

Its Redbulls take on CX though, so its going to be different from “real” CX.

Just like US CX courses are different to Euro ones.

Got my trip to Belgium planned for a few weeks, can’t wait!

Racing and watching CX with a few boys from the club, should be good fun, got my license approved for racing internationally so away we go!

Well that’s not a bad combo to kick things off with, and nicely coordinated as to not overlap with the Sufferfest intro offer.

As someone else said, I’d look at Strava Premium as you get, (so I believe), access to all the sufferfest films.

Nice build, glad to see you raced it and then took a picture of it in the house, excellent prioritization!

Proportions look good too, seat post to bars, to frame size, etc.

Stick some Dugasts/FMB’s on there and away you go 8)

I like that Kickr, but if the OP has two different bikes at 9 and 10 speed then there’s an issue there as you’d need to change cassette each time.

According to BikeRumor there is a 30% trade in November for PowerTap hubs, so send those broken G3’s back to them.

Perhaps rollers may be better? Take it I can use the same wheels etc?

Yeah just plonk your bike down and pedal, tire wear is a lot less on rollers so no real need to run special ones. Assuming we’re talking road rubber here as using MTB tires, whilst OK to warm up on before races is probably not a good idea.

I found my Garmin 500 to be totally rubbish as a running watch, it kept loosing signals and recording really odd/bad data. I used the forerunner strap, I did have better results using a iPhone type arm pouch, but even that was pretty bad.

No, I’m not aware of ay MTB specific ones, best thing to do it use TrainerRoad and watch re-runs of the World Cup races.

Hunted feels somewhat dated due to it focusing on Armstrong and Schleck quite a bit. Nice workout but Angels is better IMO.

For just keeping/improving fitness TR is not really needed, a handful of Sufferfest films and a little commitment goes a long way in the winter months.

Downward Spiral or Revolver, probably Downward

    A Very Dark Place

That would give you short, medium, and long intervals. All under an hour.

(rigid forks are 600g, coil suss forks from a Scott Scale are about 2Kg)

    Now that’s interesting.

Anybody got any links to 24″ rigid, canti, QR forks?

Swedish national series round 5 today, a very nice 3rd place for me, backing up my 7th, and 8th from the previous rounds.

Even managed to pick up a pair of Racing Ralph 29er MTB tubulars as part of my prize! What a great excuse to buy new wheels, I mean it would be bad form not to try them…

I’ve read this twice and still don’t understand the question.

You know your FTP, 80 cadence isn’t especially low, who cares about the resistance level number on the turbo, its the watts that matter.

And yeah if you’re under 90kg then 376 is pretty impressive.

The spyres look interesting and certainly allow upgrading at a better cost considering the price of the Ultegra STI’s!

And what is wrong with cable disk brakes ?

Which ones have you tried and dismissed, and what hydros are better?

BB5’s and 7’s, dire brake wear due to only aligning on one side, had club mates go through pads in one 60 minute cross race, however using both Ulterga and the Rival on the Giant TCX advanced and the CAAD super X things were improved immensely, its the way to go and I’m sure my next CX bike will have them.

Never tried the hybrid designs due to never having seen them on a bike, however its a mute point as they’re hybrid and not disk.

    Happy?

That would be the one from Cyclingtips this morning then? Pity it had cable disks.

I used the Craft lobster style gloves last winter and they were bloody brilliant. I suffer a lot from cold hands, something that is manageable on the bike but a killer when they warm up, and these gloves really helped.

Test down to minus 10 over here.

Mate and I ride from the same point, side-by-side chatting on the climbs and one after another on singletrack and every time his shows he’s climbed 100 vertical meters higher and travelled 2-3KM further.

That has nothing to do with Strava, its the data recorded from the two separate devices that is different.

Not using the premium service as I can get most of the power data I need from the TrainerRoad software

Correct Haze, just select a free ride from the available sessions with the time you want then away you go.

    The-Swedish-Chef

You can get a lot done from 40 to 90 minutes per session. 2 * 20, 3 *15, 4 *10 anything like that at 90% to 95% of FTP is going to get you serious gains done three time a week.

TrainerRoad isn’t needed if you have a power meter, however having access to their training plans is very good. Look at SweetSpot medium for a good starter.

That’ll be perfect if you are normally proportioned. I’m also 6.2″ and have had a few Treks in that size.

If it’s for a Lefty then look at the Leonardi ones as they come in at minus 20 and are made for the OPI system. I think qwerty stock them

The carbon TCX Advanced bikes are really very very good.

I’ve not ridden the ali one so can’t comment on the comparison, however if they share the same geometry and handling then unless you’re looking at racing at a high level then the extra, (if you can afford it), would be better spent on upgrading wheels, IOM.

However the Advanced, hmmm, nice 8)

Edit: I don’t ride one, but a clubmate who is also national CX team member does

My G3 went around Spring this year.

I never really used it outside so now just use the TrainerRoad estimate, which although not comparable year on year does seem at least to be consistent.

Road bike cranks are carbon Campy so no Stages option there, quite like the pedal based systems but see a fair few go back to Garmin.

Had I not have gotten such a good deal on my Cannondale I would have most likely gone for the 1*11 Superfly model. I had a Trek before and had excellent service form them.

Njee seems to rate his very highly and even has to tether it down in high winds.

Hitting FTP levels and above is ok for me, it’s the low cadence power work that I have to miss out on. However the road to my house is 20% so I make up for it.

Whilst I like the thinking behind Rule#5 when its minus and ice out its just not ssfe/practical to do quality work.
