Yeah the Long Scream is very aptly named.

Not done, or even seen Nine Hammers or The Rookie, so they’ll be fun doing then blind as it were.

Thinking it will be manageable up to end of play Wednesday, then Local Hero onwards will take some serious suffering to complete

First day complete, both stages at FTP, not sure long how long I’ll be able to keep up that intensity though.

Even got round to buying a fan, hmmm marginal gains 😀

Try it, if you get as far as next Saturday then you’ll already have done well!

    Well done sir!

The beauty of a 50 hour day window!

I’ll kick it off tomorrow morning.

Ouch, but what’s the Sky rider doing in the second angle?

That would be Stanard skating on his cleats looking for his bike that he was just sitting on a millisecond before.

8 years this month just popped up on LinkedIn.

Although as a I’m consultant I’ve spent less than a month in the actual office in all that time.

hmm interesting link thanks. Wonder which way the levers they are set up as I’ve moved to Euro style now.

The advantage of not doing the test before is that you’ll see big gains when you re-do the test the second and third time, as you’ll know how to pace it.

This is great for motivation as you can see improvement.

As an aside, how much data does an hours worth of Netflix use compared to streaming from a site, e.g. UCI events or YouTube.

I’d assume Netflix to be quite a bit higher due to the increased picture quality, but double?

Fine tonight for me after bailing on Sunday’s session, so clearly I was just a little run down.

Seems very odd Kryotn, hope you get it fixed.

Found that Wegelius book a really good read.

yeah, didn’t seem too impressed with him. Was that him in the bottle of wine story?

Rode the Sydney Olympics before switching to the road. Gave it a real go too, would have been a great home medal.

Actually watched that race during a TrainerRoad session the other night.

OT, but boy have XC courses changed!

Rapha do one, I use a eh Works one:

They work well for longer rides when rear pockets are full with clothing/food.

Kinda makes sense for 12/24 hour racing, but apart from that, racing is racing, either you go with the pace or you don’t, same as road racing really.

If I only had an MTB, (ooh the thought), then a Stages would be quite interesting, but as said, its easier to train to a number on the road, and even easier on a turbo, so stick one on the road bike.

    Thanks Njee, good info.

The stock hub is 135grams, so pretty good.

I have an option to buy a friends front wheel which is 710 inc disk with carbon rim and Aerolite spokes, so I might see if I can get a rear to match.

Else the Fun Works Atmosphere SL rims at 395grams each look promising, and the build costs are good too.

Cannondale F3 hardtail, as stock 11kg, now 10.3kg after going tubeless, 1 * 10, new grips and few other things.

Will lose another half kg with new bars, post, saddle, and brakes. All being ordered at the weekend 😀

New race wheels need to be bought. Do LB do Lefty hubs? If not then I think ActionSports.de have some interesting looking deals.

Edit, so 22.7lb now, aiming for 20.5lb without going too silly.

Complete failure during Sufferfest Local Hero today, mainly due to eating breakfast very early and lunch consisting of soup.

Still even the first 40 minutes done to target power is a good session in itself. Not the most positive way to end an otherwise excellent 4 week block of training.

Ooh well a new week starts tomorrow.

@ FunkyDoc, any time restricted plan is going to show up weaknesses during a 3 hour session, purely because by definition you won’t have that base in your legs. However doing things like low cadence power sprints can help, provided your knees are okay with that type of training.

700 is pretty damn high, especially for 7 hours, as 100 is equal to one hour at max. So that’s every session at 100%.

7 hours for me would be around 500 to 550.

Like mine a lot, especially riding rooty bumpy ground, feels like I can pedal more and maintain better speed.

Ohh just got the DHL SMS to say I can collect my parcel in a place that’s nowhere near where I live.

Ordered Tuesday arrived in Sweden on Friday. Excellent!

You spend more on mtb tyres than car tyres.

Very true, let’s not discuss the cost of Dugast tubs….

Just buy the Campy chain, cassette, and rings and you’re done without all of this messing around. You get to keep the lovely Athena groupset rather then the 105. 🙂

Next time buy Ultra Torque not Power Torque when it comes to Campy chainsets.

Check your tyre pressures as well, dropping from say 100psi to 80 may not feel that much when you check it with your thumb, but it will make a large difference to the effort needed to reach a certain wattage.

Yeah back to back, might need to change shorts though to a dry pair!

Brutal, the rest of it seems doable, albeit, hard. From Thursday onwards is going to be real fun.

but you won’t be able to use them with trainerroad that way

meaning that they won’t be perfectly in sync? then yes that seems logical, but you should be able to just watching them and use TR at the same time.

Because I start racing this coming weekend,

errr? CX nationals were last weekend, you racing the Tour Down Under? 😀

better to complete a workout at 90% or even 80% than not finish it at 100%.

Generally, and especially at this time of year, yes, however there are instances where hitting the numbers and then failing catastrophically/succeeding are prioritized.
