Hi, this thread might be of help. Check out the PDF that’s link to in one of the posts as it shows the various types of hubs re-branded as Bonty and how to service them.

wombat – it might be worth complaining even though you don’t have a reg number, but you can specify an accurate location and time period to narrow the search down. I know of one police force that can, and does use technology (GPS) to identify the location of vehicles when a reg number isn’t available…

Very useful for me as I really need to service my Bonty hubs and the last time I looked I couldn’t figure out how to do it! So thanks for asking the question and thanks to those who’ve replied. 😆

I thought the max travel was 130mm? I’ve got a frame that I need to build-up and I have some Revs to go with it, but was thinking of dropping the travel to 120/130mm, but might leave them at 140mm now!

Very funny sketch. Not too sure about George Michael’s cover version of the New Order song though!

I was there in early January and they had warnings about the theft of ’boutique bikes’, which was enough to put me off taking mine. There was a thread on here that might be worth checking out.

How about Bonty XR4s? I’ve read they’re big for a 2.2 tyre, though. Basic version can be had for £14.95.

    Not here in Surrey, either.

Dropped on the mat this morning, thanks to the postie for battling through the snow!

Is there much riding in the area? I’m off to Longleat the first week of January and was thinking of taking the bike and doing a bit of exploring off-site.

Well, I live in Surrey, which must be pretty remote as everyone drives 4x4s to get around…

The Ting Ting fan beat me to it.
There’s some nice single track off that hill.

    Hi Nigel – it’s Greg!

Oh, I didn’t see that one but it would be on the same bridleway.

Actually, Huf Haus are becoming common. I know of two in Hampshire!

I don’t think you can see it as well when you head along the bridleway towards the Donkey (I normally ride it the other way). There common as muck in Surrey, too! There’s one in Esher of the same design and I walk past one every morning out with the dog, but this one is smaller and a different style.

But what about the Huf Haus further along the bridleway as you head from the Donkey towards Long Hill. Fantastic place!

Thanks Sam. Looks like I’ve just bought the wrong tyres, or at least I’ll have trouble getting them on my Bonty tubeless rims!! Should have gone with Bonty 29-3…

Wasn’t this one, was it? Swinley map.

I got the link of the Bikerader forum, but I guess there may be others out there as well.

Yeah, I had to buy rim strips and valves for my Duster TLR rims. Don't forget the sealent as well, but don't get Bonty Super Juice because it's crap!!!!

Yep, just had that too! Looking for info on the race as someone is selling a solo entry, and I was comtemplating doing it.

Do they allow entry on the day then, if there are spare places?

Anquet Maps announced back in Sept 2009 that they planned on releasing a Mac/iPhone version of their software, though it seems like they've only got a as far as the beta release.

Dave, I sometime ride up there, but mainly stick to the bridleways and keep meaning to do a bit more exploring. The bridleways that drop off the top into the village are nice, if short and there's a couple that drop down on the Cranliegh side as well, one in particularly that I like doing.

I've not venture onto Hascombe hill itself, which has the footpath running around it, so there could be some tracks on there. Did you see the wooden jump that someone has built in quite an obvious place?

Happy to show you what I know.

    Greg.

    Endorphin Singlespeeder

Someone was selling a frame in the classifieds a few days ago – looked in really good condition.

How about a Twin Six The Deluxe, one of their more subtler designs!

    Isn't it better to go with a 26" frame for a 69er, rather than a 29er?

Watching the Niner fork as well…they'll go well on my Trek SS 69er 😉

As SingleTracksurfer said. First time I'd ridden in the area and really enjoyed it, so I'd recommed it. I was down to do the 75km event but felt okay at the last checkpoint so did the extra 25km, which I thought was the best bit but was also hard going (problems with chain suck, that's my excuse!). I didn't particularly train for it, just tried to do a few longer, slower rides to build my endurance and take it steady on the day.

There's a nice Endorfin Singlespeeder frame for sale over in the classifieds. Not mine by the way!

Have a look over on MTBR as there's a section dedicated to 650b, including a 'who's tried which frame' thread.

Have a look at Dinosaur Bikes – not sure what they have in stock though. They also do 650b tyres as well.

Have a look over on MTBR as there's a comprehensive list of frame which people have tried. Would love to try it but can't afford to buy a new set of wheels!
