Really like the look of these frames. Only thing putting me off is the price!

In May 1980, a dead Lioness was found in a lake near a disused railway quarry in St Helens, Lancashire.

Wasn’t that dumped in the quarry by a travelling circus?

Nice little route through Houndown, shame if it’s now out of bounds? There been a lot more Army activity on Hankley, but not by the numbers quoted, or as TeamHurtmore said, very well camouflaged!

Last couple of years we’ve stayed in/around Porlock, Somerset with our dog. I can recommend The Pack Horse[/url] self-catering cottages/apartments as very dog-friendly. Loads of places around there to exercise the dog; Exmoor, Holnicote woods and beaches close-by, as well. The pubs in Porlock are dog-friendly as well!

I’m down in Surrey (Godalming), if anyone wants my STW mags.

Have you looked on the Paul’s Cycles website, as they offer older models at huge discounts and they do the Cycle to work scheme. As an example, this 2010 giant XTC 1 is down from £1200 to £879.99. Not sure how the spec matches to the current Boardman models, though.

CheesybeanZ, is Colin a Wheaten Terrier? Certainly looks like ours when he was a puppy, though that was a long time ago ( he’s just turned 10).

How about a Titus FTM Carbon frame @ £899? Which leaves you £1100 for groupset and wheels etc.

Sorry for the hijack but Greg, between jobs, wanna ride tomorrow night then at 5, petersfield Haslemere, pub and then back?

Scott – drop me an email Greg dot driver at btinternet dot com with start time and location, though I’m not 100% I can make it.

Shame I’ll miss this ride, especially if it’s round the DPB , in case I’m missing some routes!

If you have a Specialized Test Centre near you they can get hold of any size of Jett Comp, Carve Pro, Camber Comp Carbon or Epic Comp Carbon for you to demo…

Thanks, will have to try and arrange a test ride soon.

I’d like to try one, too, but it’s hard to find a small framed test bike. Unless anyone knows somewhere?

Oops, sorry! It was the same colour as the one on eBay, so I put 2 and 2 together and got 5;)

Nice bike all the same. Enjoy.

Ask1974 – I’ll keep an eye out for you as I ride around there a lot, too. I’ve got an Orange ST4 and used to have a Sub 5, so enjoy your new 5.

We’re you out on it a couple of weekends back around the PunchBowl? I remember seeing a rider on what looked like a new 5, like yours!

Or there’s an Orange G3 for sale in the For Sale section. In you budget at £400, though it’s a 19″ frame, so might be on the large size for you.

Hi Nita, yes I do remember you! Would be good to have to join the Godalming club as it’s been a bit quite lately. Hope to see you on a ride sometime soon.

It might be worth talking the Gorrick crew as they have a massive amount of experience of running MTB events, so might be able to help out with location etc.

I have a 2010 model and really like it as well. Someone was selling a 09 swing arm in the classifieds, if you want a cheap fallback http://singletrackworld.com/forum/topic/fs-hope-seat-clamp-stem-orange-bar-st4-swingarm

When I did the BHF Exmoor Marathon ride a couple of years back, I stopped at his b&b http://www.reineshouse.co.uk/index.html in the centre of Porlock, along with a couple of other mtbers. They were more than happy to store the bikes in the garden, though it did mean taking them through the house as access to the garden is limited. Might be worth giving them a call, though.
