Guy at work lives close by and he described the pub as “spit and sawdust”, or “full of tradesmen, where you wouldn’t take your girlfriend in”. It used to be full of druggies and under-aged drinkers when it was The Inn on the Green, apparently.

You should be able to export the ‘map’ window and save it as an image from CadCorp software. All GIS software has this functionality and this is what we do using MapInfo and we’re able to specifiy the dpi and image type, which is usually PNG format. Something like this.

Digimap for Schools gives you access to Ordnance Survey MasterMap, which is the most detailed level mapping available and allows you to measure length and area. No aerial photography, though.

Have a look on Earthworks jobs.

    Good luck!

it depends on the input layers; so if you only have one ProMap layer, then you’ll get one dxf export file. We have OS MasterMap split by points, lines and polygons, so if I convert these layers, I get a dxf for each object type. I’m not familiar with ProMap, but if I want to split OS MasterMap, then I’d have to do an sql select by an attribute, for instance descriptive term = “roads”, and then export the query to dxf.

There’s a Map on the DECC website which shows 14th onshore round of licensing blocks under offer, as well as blocks currently under licence.

Not got round to using it, Rwui looks like an easy way to build a web interface for running R scripts.

How about an Abarth 695 Biposto? They’ve even taken the rear seats out to make it easier to fit a bike in, but the rollcage might get in the way 😉

M25 -> A3 then either A283/A285, though they’ll be a queue at Petworth or A286, though you might get stuck at Midhurst. Alternatively, carry on the A3 and come off at Petersfield A272 and then the back roads B2199/B2146 (South Harting) B2141 to pick up the A286.

Just out of curiosity, what would you have done if your GPS had failed half way round on the ride tomorrow?

Ordered some Squirt from In2dust on Thursday afternoon and it was waiting for me on the doorstep when I arrived home from work later the same day. They also included some bottles of bike cleaner and degreaser for free, as well. Seems they’ve moved in to a unit on the industrial estate over the road and walked over to deliver it! I need never run out of lube again!

The OS have a free app that will give you a map grid reference OS Locate. Not sure if it includes any base mapping. There’s also GB Locate which is similar and has been around for ages.

Doesn’t stop you from using the data in QGIS and you can view Google Maps/OSM in QGIS using a plugin –

Actually, just looked at the End User Licence and noticed under 4 General Terms:

(xii) The Forestry Commission will not allow use of the Data in internet mapping services such as Google Earth/Maps, Yahoo Maps or Bing Maps without prior consent.

I work with spatial data in my job and have to deal with licence agreements and they can be, to say the least, very frustrating in the limitations that can apply!

Presumably this could be added to Open Street Map some how?

Depends on the licence. If the data has been derived from Ordnance Survey data, then no, it can’t be as the OS retain copyright on the data.

I’m sure I read somewhere OS deliberately put mistakes in maps so they can check on copyright infringements.

Not according the the OS, who claimed it was based on design elements, such as road widths:

No, I was riding alone on an Orange ST4.

Just back from a ride past the film set, though stuck to the ridge over looking, rather than venturing down as I wasn’t sure how close you could get. Lovely day for it and it’ll be nice this evening, as well. I didn’t get to see the Skyfall set, unfortunately.

Couldn’t imagine taking ours out for a ride, either.

I was part of a new club and one of the other members, who knew about these things, suggested that we form as a limited company with directors and a company secretary. I can’t remember the exact reasoning, but I think it was mainly done to protect club officials from financial liability, though we were also affiliated to the CTC/BC.

Managed to pick-up a pair of these Hunter boots from TK Maxx recently. I find wellingtons uncomfortable for long walks, but these seem to offer a bit more support and are ideal for wet, muddy winter conditions and won’t need much up keep, which is ideal as I’m out every day with the dog. I also looked at getting a pair of Nokian wellingtons as they seemed to get good reviews but couldn’t find a local stockist to try before buying.
