We will also be there for the week of/after the passportes du soleil. Not staying in the campsite.. but if you wanted to go riding/ go drinking. Let me know! If you see a gaggle of 2nd hand biking gear riding a grey santa cruz bullet..kona stinky …cannondale rize .. giant trance.. and a trek remedy .. that would be us!

The tourist board do stupid offers on accomodation plus lift pass…

The week I am looking at its 135euros per person, per week, including the lift pass and an appartment for the week… Check out http://www.chateltour.com

    Sorry… Wasn’t clear.

Group ride this Saturday all day
Good people ride on Bank Hol Monday.

If anyone is about, especially Monday, that would be cool!

whiter74, I think by staring at an OS map and google maps, have worked out where it started! But I shall explore! I know a couple of FOD riders too, but they are being reclusive at the mo!

Hello! Sorry been away! Thanks for your help!

I forgot to mention that my GF plus friends are mostly doctors so like pubs… Hence the route is circular with a few pubs on board, and most towards the end. Pub at Parkend or Coleford, then Luggas Wood symonds yat. (so no drunken downhills!)

Was going to leave cars in Christchurch on Saturday to avoid the hill for the newbies, but finish in symonds yat, after the pubs! Then get car the next day. We really want to finish without the cars. Just measured route I had planned. 30K in a day with 170m vertical climb (from Parkend to Stanton on railway and road)plus a little more climb on the Wye back to Symonds Yat. I know last week I did 35K in 6 hours, but there was 1400m vertical climb on Dartmoor but i am not a newbie.. I just don’t know if 30k in a day, mostly on railway (or river valley) track (with a 200m uplift to start) is acceptable for newbies to mountain biking)

Any other routes you would suggest that end up in Symonds Yat would be appreciated! (again don’t mind driving out, just not back)

Looking at spending Monday riding with the good people solely, so that may be the day for a bit more downhills. I shall email you the red chilli!

    Hello!
I live in nr St Daves Station, and last summer spent quite a few midweek evenings up there, climbing up over university, and using the bridle paths. Along with my housemate, we started clearing some of the old trails that had fallen into disuse.

My favourite DH/XC trail there runs from the road junction marked ‘stoke post’ It runs North West through the private (shhhh!) woods, and exits at the junction signed for the paintball from the main road. Its smooth and fast.

There are lots of other trails, but they are more DH located in the forestry woods. Good fun and lots of easy jumps, but unless you include the nearby bridlepaths, it doesn’t justify as an XC ride (well not until I have finished reclaiming all the old!)

Trouble is Stoke Woods is super slippy and glooopy in the wet, so best avoided until it dries up!

If you want a guided tour one evening, happy to show you!

Tignes is really rather good for an cheap mountain biking holiday. I went there last year and it was great!

Tagged along with a summer ski trip, (which is another activity you can do whilst you are there!) So had lots of fun on the harder runs in the morning, and took the newbies around in the afternoon on the easier runs.

There is also a massive water jump, and airbag too. Plus this year they have linked to Val D, so 5 ski lifts for free! Plus loads of other activities all for free!
