My wife’s car is pretty new so she wants to keep it fairly spotless despite having 4 kids to ferry around.  I’ve an old Discovery I paid £1500 for that we use as the work horse for camping, bikes and general muddy stuff but even that gets a regular clean inside. (Mud is good anyway)

My wife’s daughters new car on the other hand is already an absolute shit tip. Wasn’t cheap either.

I’ve had a Minirig since last Christmas and it’s been brilliant. The sound is fantastic for a small single speaker and the battery lasts days. I use it to charge my phone sometimes.

You can get some good quality binoculars like Opticron for not a lot of money. I’ve have 8×42 and previously 8×25. Some good field guides will serve you better than worrying about the absolute best brand and tech of binoculars.

Looks like Leylandii. Burn them. Burn them all. Burn the piece of paper it’s on while you’re at it.

Thanks for the reminder. Should be good, and nice to see something a bit different.

Not sure which is worse. The crap scaffolding or the crap radio station choice.

Ended up with a cracked rib after going arse over tit going down the fairy steps on Hameldon. Good trail.😀

WD-40 helps remove the old stuff believe it or not. You still need to attack it with plenty of elbow grease with a sharp blade/scraper and obviously the WD-40 will need washing off after.

A few weeks ago I went to see The League of Gentlemen* at the Liverpool Echo arena and they did a scene in the local shop where a woman ( Mark Gatiss ) said to Tubs. “Hello. I’m your local Conservative representative”

Sticking two fingers up at her, Tubs shouted “**** OFF”

The whole arena went mad cheering. 😂

*You really should go if you get the chance. It’s bloody superb.

Yeah. Must be off their heads doing that.

Yep. Did mine a about 4/5 year ago. The council chap came twice and didn’t spend more than 5 minutes for the visits put together and 2 of those minutes were to talk about the dog. Make of that what you will. Maybe he could tell I was awrsum. 😀

Now you see, I don’t like the way the  OP has gone about this desert island, so I’ll go all Lord of the Flies.

Yeah. I’ve been annoyed with the news website for a while. It just seems to be full of fluff and promoting their own stuff. (Body Guard, Doctor **** Who) It’s mainly the Guardian site for me now

Death by dangerous cycling law similar to if you were driving a car. So that will be a slap on the wrist then.

I like the look of those Hymer vans. Very nice. Nice prices too after a quick look online. We’re looking to replace our knackered Fleetwood Garland 185 for next year and they are now on the list.

Cannot believe they’re moving Rad Mac. I found 6 music because I loved their R2 evening show. They were perfect for the afternoon. Even my wife who only listens to Heart FM (the shame 😀) was completely shocked. Load of bollocks.

I suppose any extra padding like that will help to some extent whether cycling or out running. But do you want to be wearing that stuff all the time in the unlikely event that you would have a serious accident.?

You can also wrap yourself in cotton wool.😉

Depends on the size of the damp stain. You can get a tin of spray on stain block or a tin of brush on stuff like Zinsser BIN then just emulsion over the top. Solvent/oil based is the same stuff.

There’s plenty of stain sealing products about but giving it a coat of some oil based undercoat will do.

    Not gloss.

Depends what you mean at around £100. An extra tenner here or there? 99p?😀

Another one here with a Mini Rig. Not cheap at about £130 but then it’s UK built. Superb sound off a single 3″ speaker and the battery lasts for ages. I can charge my phone off it while listening to it at work and never worry about it running out of juice.

If it was moorland then I would have said Hen Harrier. They’ll fly low and slow/hover into the wind. You’re very lucky if it was.

Over 98% of Great Britain is not built on.

I wouldn’t worry much about our “rapidly disappearing countryside”

They way that some of our countryside is abused, it may as well be built on.

It’s a trail built on farmland and uses some farm tracks. Can’t see the problem. It’s also been pretty wet recently as well.

I never read any of the books but was looking forward to the series the last time it was on R4 as I knew people loved it but I just couldn’t get into it. Same with tonight’s episode. Oh well.

Pretty much what CF said. I do use it but it’s just for logging and looking back at my own rides.

Just do what my 79 year old dad did. After a few days of trying to unblock my brothers bathroom drain with plungering, prodding and caustic sodaring. He thought he’d go up a ladder to remove the inspection cover where he found a child’s paint brush which he removed and got covered in everything behind it.

Thankfully the caustic soda was diluted with everything else in there.😀 My mum was highly amused.

I had 3 loans for cars from around 1999 onwards, and I was pressured into having PPI. I don’t have a great deal of details about them but I thought it might be worth claiming. Got sod all. Wondering if it might be worth taking it to the ombudsman.

I really like the Leyland paint range. No nonsense stuff and a good price. I’ve had them mix up Farrow and Ball colours for me at half the cost. Same parent company as Johnstone’s paint. PPG.

Don’t know about BUM bargains watering down their paint but the wife bought some Dulux water based satin from there and it was crap. Very soft and sticky. It got dirty very quickly.

As for the one coat jobbies. They’re ok but remember, 2 thin coats are better than 1 thick coat.😀
