I’ve just signed up for unlimited broadband with SSE (yes, the leccy and Gas people) for the grand total of £12.99 a month including line rental, fixed for 2 years

I wouldn’t leave a dog alone for more than 4 hours on a regular basis. Thought about a cat?

I’ve had about 5 Alpkit Gammas and every one has broken at the lugs that hold the battery cover on. Alpkit will replace the cover or even the whole head torch but they get a bit sniffy when you ask them to replace the replacement because that’s bust too. Alpkit buy them in from China so can’t change the design or materials. It’s a great torch but you’d better carry two at all times because they will break and leave you stranded in the dark.

Doesn’t need to be a full retest imo, a simple eyesight and reaction time test would help.

Seems to be only people with unlimited budgets or land their parents already own these days. Could do with a dose of reality imo.

Have a look at ‘Naturediet’, my whippet’s been on it for the last 11 years and she’s fit as a flea.

I don’t think it’s a scam just a business run by people who had a good idea for a product but no idea how to run a business.

Coffee Real ‘Salvation’ decaf is pretty good and you can have it in espresso grind. https://www.coffeereal.co.uk/shop/decaf/product/decaf-espresso-salvation-co2-process/

If you’re into rallying at all check out ‘Climb Dance’, Ari Vatanen on the Pikes Peak hillclimb course in 1988. Superb video every petrolhead should watch.

“To die for” as in ‘that chocolate cake is to die for’. Really? It could be arranged!

DPD are the best by far here but Yodel are fine as well, the guy delivers them in his car and does Mrs Tetchypete’s Next parcels too. If we’re not in he leaves them in next doors garage. Both miles better than the unlamented Shitty Link.

I’ve changed disks and pads on a few of my cars and it’s fairly straightforward but be prepared for a world of pain if you round a bolt off or strip a thread. You’re also almost guaranteed to lose some skin off your knuckles. Unless you are totally skint I’d say take it to your local garage (not Kwik Fit though, they are just a bunch of crooks).

Yew Tree Farm tea room closed a couple of years ago. Chesters at Skelwith Bridge is nice if a bit busy.

I destickered the Alexrims rims on my Latitude with the aid of a hairdryer. Get the stickers nice and warm and slowly peel them off. Much better looking without.

I had one actual lesson just before my test, but my Dad taught me to drive. Like learning any new skill, lots and lots of practice is the key.

Go from the headphone jack on your laptop to the phono inputs on the back of the tape deck (one red, one white). A mini jack to twin phono lead will only cost a couple of quid. Where abouts are you, there might be someone near who could loan you an old tape deck?

I hate it when they won’t tell you the delivery cost until you register. Most of the time I look elsewhere.

I’ve never had any success with Skin so soft despite all the Special Forces guff. Stuff with lots of Deet works and Smidge seems to be the best of the non-plasticmelty varieties.

Cheers Guys, the Solarstorm is certainly popular and pretty cheap, but I like the look of the one Davesport linked to as well. Maybe I’ll just buy both

It depends what your walls are made of. If they are stone, brick or breeze blocks then it’s just the same as putting up a shelf, masonry drill, rawlplugs and big screws. If it’s an internal stud wall (knock it and see if it sounds hollow) you need to find the joists and wood screw it to those. Don’t under any circumstances screw it to the plasterboard or it will fall off and kill someone!

I’ve never bought anything decent at a car boot sale, mainly because I refuse to get up at 6am ( why do they always start so early?) and by the time I get there all that’s left is the stuff normal people take to the tip.

The seatpost on my Latitude slides down as well if not clamped up super tight. Maybe Genesis own brand posts are a bit undersized. I’m hoping the 2nd hand carbon post I’m getting along with some carbon assembly paste might solve the problem.

I recently saw some Montane trousers I liked in Gaynors, checked the internet and found them 10 quid cheaper……………..on Gaynors web site! Needless to say I left the shop and ordered them online.

Try phoning a Tourist Information Centre, although I think you’ll be very lucky to find somewhere for one night, on one of the busiest bank holidays of the year. Most places will either be booked up or want a minimum 2 or 3 night stay. You might get a last minute cancellation I suppose. Good luck.

My whippet Florence is coming up for 11 and when she goes I’ll definitely get another one (or two). They are so undemanding, just as happy curled up on the sofa as charging round the fields chasing rabbits. Get him a coat for the winter, they have zero body fat so really feel the cold.

I said ‘some of the bigger farms’ not every farm in the national park. I still say farmers in the Lake District are already doing very nicely thank you without any more taxpayers money being sent their way. If it was that bad there’d be dozens of farms for sale or let would there not?
