@jekkyl cheers for the offer of your unused tank, but I’m a good few miles away in Sussex.

My existing water butts are 2’ in diameter, with about 3’ total distance between shed and fence. This doesn’t leave enough space for IBC’s etc, however I’ve seen several “cheap” single-skinned fuel tanks that would fit and provide 1000l + storage.

If I got a 2nd hand tank is there anyway to clean it of fuel residue, so as not to kill the plants nor make the garden smell like a station forecourt?

    Good luck 🤞

Just take each day as a victory.

I’ve not “given up”, I just haven’t smoked for seven years- makes it easier to handle as giving up sounds a bit too final and scary!

Thanks all, I’d not considered the stresses on the tank when it contains 2tonnes of water! Definitely not a diy job for me.
If I go for the 600l IBC’s I’ll still not have enough room between the shed and fence to fit them, so now contemplating moving the shed 30cm….😟

I recently used reclaimed office carpet tiles for our “summerhouse” (shed). Had plenty leftover and did the workshop floor as well. They’re a low cost and hard wearing option that also has an eco advantage that it keeps waste from landfill.

I have used a cheap plastic bung to seal the gully and then backfilled to ground level with concrete.

A bung like this might work: https://www.toolstation.com/nylon-drain-plug/p20648

Thanks for ideas and advice. It is a strange one, as the shed (and house) are flea free. The fleas seem to be in the gravel and compacted rubble that makes up my hard-standing outdoor work area. I’ve never encountered fleas outside before and the sprays and potions all seem to be for indoor use. I really don’t want to poison the area with stuff that may harm the other nice creepy-crawlers.
Will contact professional flea killers tomorrow 🤓

Chain reaction cycles have the 950 and 970 cassettes in stock. The only difference between these and the 980 is a few grams in weight.
    https://www.chainreactioncycles.com/mobile/sram-pg950-9-speed-mtb-cassette/rp-prod5045

Any 9 speed chain will work with this cassette.
Chain ring you will need a 104mm BCD such as:

Does it have to be vinyl? As it’s only one letter could you use a little tin of modelling paint?

Seriously impressive. I rode the SDW in under 12 hours, but couldn’t cycle for a week after😄 these “machines” just keep eating up the miles!

Never had a YAK 52 fly over the house before today.

It’s heading back to Popham now. Last time I was at Popham was when I went to a rave in about 1990😄

Out of the house at 05:30 as I had a busy afternoon. Sunshine and happy people about on the trails.

Yummy bread pudding provided enough energy to get home.

Rather than epoxy or superglue, I’d use an epoxy putty such as Milliput.

Thank you all for the information and advice. I’ve managed to find a small slow cooker on Gumtree for £5 that I will collect this evening.
I’m cleaning a new SRAM chain in a bottle of ipa and it’s very surprising just how much debris has also been removed- looks like tiny slivers of metal from production.

I’d not realised that Putoline was a bit oily and sticky. I was looking at waxing to avoid dirt sticking to the chain and forming grinding paste.
When it arrives I will return it and buy a hard dry wax instead.
    Cheers for the advice Daz.

After 12 years of neglect, my favourite garden chair was showing signs that it would soon become firewood.
Bodged back into service using a bit of metal band and loads of screws…. Good for another decade I think!
