+1 for the pay someone else! Last move the packers came in and did the whole house in a day! We even paid for unpacking ladies for all of the kitchen/dining stuff so that we could relax at the new place and enjoy it rather than having to unpack to eat etc. Don't regret spending any of this money now!!!
Sorry can't help, except to suggest look forward to the new place! Find a positive carrot ie go out when you get there to explore to new local!

I was an engineer working in the manufacturing/sales area and got sick of moving money around the world and making time for the owners of the company to ocean race…! Did a DipEd and have been teaching Maths for the last 8 yrs to High School and senior years students. Have also done year advisor jobs as well. I was looking for a job with a "social" context and could not be happier. Obviously have taken a pay cut, but I now enjoy the holidays (sorry stand down periods or ride training) but no company car! I now look forward to each day at work instead of dreading it – if you want a change – I say go for it!

Lip gloss and "pretend" make up kits – but check with parents first!
Always a big hit with the god daughters for us. (Parent of two boys, so those girl presents require thought!)

Bar ends are definitely also the grip lock on clamps – have just put a set on in preparation for a long ride – nice to be able to vary hand position a bit. Not worried how they look as they are comfortable for me.

You would have to tilt your head but leave the glasses still otherwise the glasses would be still on your face at the same angle… 8)

Too cold – if you look at the commercial farms, hen houses are heated…google the keeping of hens in Canada they suggest a light bulb in the laying boxes to heat area up. Would you like to live outside at the moment?!!! 😯

Given that Dominos is McDonalds for Pizza – when I have visited our local one it has half of it's staff from my high school classes (teacher here)
DIY – on Friday we had a cheesy garlic one, a roast potato and rosemary and a roast pumpkin and prosciutto. OK I concede that we use the grated Aldi mozzarella!!! Yum, but strangely Dominos is very busy every night and people wonder why they are overweight….

Get married on a weekday and say it is a business function. Friends of ours did this and it was half the cost of the "same" for a wedding from the same place. Wedding for 40 people vs business fn for 40 people. When the bride arrived the manager was a bit miffed that it was a wedding, but it all had been paid for and they had a lovely time!!! Another friend invited about 20 family and friends out to lunch at a nice restaurant and had a celebrant turn up in the middle…big surprise to all except the about to be married. Fortunately we got married before it cost heaps and in the country (Grafton, Australia) Good luck with all arrangements, but this is only for one day remember – you then get to have fun for the next 22 years or so (I have!!)

File sharing will be between your two computers on the encrypted network that you have set up. So no, Joe will not be able to see anything as he can't get onto the network. I think you also have to give permission at the other end ie other computer as well in the set up. We have network of IMac on ethernet/router/broadband and 2 Minis for the kids on airport. All very happy esp me as I get to play all of their new music on iTunes!!!

If you are a bit savvy, you can take it to bits and fix…google procedure.
Otherwise, get the new wireless one – have had it for 3 days and very happy here.
    (But I am an apple convert….) 😀

Cheesyfeet – Meths in Canberra is actually ethanol plus colour/taste agent to stop idiots drinking it. ie same stuff as alcohol. As has been said very low freezing temp – only needs a couple of sprays to clear screen. And it was a company car – they go backwards at 80 and run on no oil…!

Sounds like the bottle of concentrate was water plus colouring….opps in the factory. Oh well its Summer – no- one will know… 😉

Windscreen needs to have warmed up – otherwise you are putting the liquid onto a minus whatever surface and adding the windchill as you drive. Pretty hard for anything not to freeze. Am in Canberra and we get quite a few low temps in winter – have found the best is to spray meths from a bottle onto the glass to clear the windscreen – alcohol has a lower freezing pt and mixes with the ice and defrosts glass. Not really sure if this is good for the duco long term though – Company car…
Start car – turn on demister/heat, heated seats – wait and finish coffee – drive off!

My wife was drinking decaf – horrible stuff…(we are fussy ie grind beans for the espresso 🙂 ), but found that it made her blood pressure go up – apparently there have been some studies done on this. Back to a couple of cups of fav caffeinated blend per day and blood pressure back to normal. You may want to bear this in mind…

Uncool Ford Popular – amazingly this got stolen…
Cool – after an unexpected cash bonus at work…bought MGB GT new – very fun.
We also had a white mini with red interior and the clear plastic seat cover option 🙂 not cool then, but could you imagine one now?

Have done Australia to UK with 18month old too. Get a bassinet seat at the bulkhead and depending on size of boy, they can sleep there. I think you pay 10% of normal fare for this. Recommendations – take extra extra extra clothes for the trip in the carry on for you and the baby. We gave a bottle on take off and landing to equalise ears for the pressure change – worked really well. One problem when we had change of clothes in bag under feet – take off ok and bottle done (laced with phenergan – not allowed now, but anti-histamine that KO'd our son for 6 lovely hours!) One sector coming back had Jon throw up about 17 litres – (not really, but way much more than went in!!!) This went all into the spare clothes Doh! SHUT BAG WITH SPARE CLOTHES! Everything had chuck on it – staff were very helpful (BA), but we were very smelly from then on…ah children…much easier now as do not get a peep from either of our kids – the wonders of the entertainment system and nintendo!

As above – look at the number of ophthalmologists that still wear glasses. My dad was an ophthalmologist (now retired) and he too said that it mostly was OK, but if something went wrong it goes really wrong – he used to see the results. He was not involved with the surgery at all as a consequence. You still have to wear glasses when riding anyway (tree branches etc) so what's the point….? Apparently technology was developed in Russia as it was cheaper than making glasses!

Having been an engineer and now a Maths teacher (having a great time!) I would have to say that all jobs have their stresses. The advantage that I see with teaching (apart from the teaching interaction with students – every day an adventure…) is that as bad as it may seem, the absolute worst it can be is 10 weeks till the next holiday!!!
I don't have a company car anymore, but I do get great holidays and I actually want to go to work each day.
Marking (college level here – so assessment counts) is a bit of a downer, but you get to see how your class is doing relative to others' and what the students have come to grips with. Always get a few pleasant surprises. Parent evenings are normally good as you get more info on students – parents usually grateful too. I am about to be a year co-ordinator again, so will be getting to make some interesting phone calls. Talking to parents is usually illuminating – sometimes you get to see that the student is managing really well – especially considering home life. As you can pick up, I'm enjoying my work.

Cheers druidh!. Looking forward to trying a new one out as saddle started to come apart as stitching wore off (funnily?!) I can't complain though as I got over 4000km off road from each saddle – very happy.

Specialised Alias used here…works for me (and is cheaper than another ultrasound!!) They measure your sit bones by sitting on a Gel pad at Specialized dealer – saddle width to suit. I have worn two out and they have taken away the stitching on the top (that wears off) so hopefully next one will last longer than a couple of yrs 🙂

Other way round here too – Skiing with kids and organised them helmets – shop ran out of my size – oh well…
At the snow with my parents – Dad caved in (was not going to ski as is 73!) and hired skiis as the weather was so good. I made him hire a helmet!
1st day fine then halfway through 2nd he caught an edge and went over like a sack of spuds. Head smacked onto snow and he was dazed for a couple of mins. Hate to think what may have happened if he was not wearing a helmet.
Next day i face planted over a jump with no helmet. Not too serious apart from the fat lip and cuts around my eye where glasses were pushed against my skull. As I'm lying on the snow, I'm thinking, "I always wear a bloody cycling helmet – what am I thinking…?"
Hint from here – Ski with helmet!!!! (I will next time)

I normally just wear prescription sunnies (rayban + good lenses), but after the last trip to the snow in the whiteout, blizzard and hail belting around at a massive rate, I would say Goggles are a must! 🙂

When you plug in your iPod, you should see it listed on LHS of iTunes under devices if iTunes is correctly seeing it. Click on your iPod in the list and you will see all of the info with tabs for all of the different settings. Tick boxes to set your preferred settings.

I have had same problem, but normally due to things like suncream getting in my eyes.
    Maybe anti allergy eyedrops?

I have 2 Minis for the kids – one thing is the benefit of the OS with built in options for a "restricted" access to all of the internet – and a log to check up on teenage activities (computers in lounge! but still…)
Actual best benefit is the fact that the mini can be very quickly unplugged if there is bad behaviour – DIRE CONSEQUENCES as far as a teenager is concerned – no MSN!
Timemachine as mentioned is good and very happy with all performance of wireless built in for home network. Easy. Oh and allows restriction to log on times and length of log on – have a look at the apple website under parental controls.

Yes it is an idea from Australia. Last year over $8 MILLION was raised here towards research into prostate cancer and male depression
Links here if you want to know the details for the 3 million pounds raised in the UK UK Movember[/url]
I have had a laugh with friends and enjoyed the last three years doing a bit of fundraising – have you noticed how much funding is given to breast cancer awareness compared to prostate cancer? Think about this the next time you are lucky enough to go on the next ride!!!

Thermocouple heats up in the gas flame and creates a current that holds out a magnetic valve in the gas tap…so if thermocouple is stuffed, as soon as you let go of the knob, the gas is cut off. This is a safety feature so that van is not filled with gas if the flame goes out. Thermocouples do not last forever, so that would be my first guess – maybe you are not letting it heat up enough …hold knob in for longer.
Failing all of that, you can replace by taking out old one and toddling along to you nearest decent plumbing and gasfitting supplies shop. You may have to buy a Universal thermocouple Kit. BUT check if the insurance on the van says anything about non licensed people working on Gas parts – may be an issue!

Used for a trip to NYC and Washington DC and all review summaries were spot on – as has been said, can ignore some of the reviews as some people will whine whatever, but overall the candid photos are very useful. Also like the opinions of what to do…check your local area and see if you agree! Will give you confidence about the area that you intend to visit.

Hmmm evidence…well regarding the New testament as a historical document: If you compare the number of manuscripts available to study, from (just to stay on track an Alpha reference) there are about 5000 Greek, 10000plus Latin and over 9000 other manuscripts apparently available to verify it. This compares to 20 on Livy's Roman History and 10 on Caesar's Gallic war – do you question them? It is far and away the most verifiable ancient document there is.
Now – what is in it…another matter. Maybe best summed up by C.S Lewis in Mere Christianity:
"I am trying here to prevent anyone saying the really foolish thing that
people often say about Him: "I'm ready to accept Jesus as a great moral
teacher, but I don't accept His claim to be God." That is the one thing we
must not say. A man who was merely a man and said the sort of things Jesus
said would not be a great moral teacher. He would either be a lunatic-on a
level with the man who says he is a poached egg-or else he would be the
Devil of Hell. You must make your choice. Either this man was, and is, the
Son of God: or else a madman or something worse. You can shut Him up for a
fool, you can spit at Him and kill Him as a demon; or you can fall at His
feet and call Him Lord and God. But let us not come with any patronising
nonsense about His being a great human teacher. He has not left that open to
us. He did not intend to."
Again I say – everyone should make up their own mind. It is obvious that some already have!

    Junkyard – since you ask:
Faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen; it gives us assurance about things we cannot see. Hebrews ch11 v1
As I see it, you put your faith in something – either Science or God. You choose.
    It is a personal decision.
That is why my suggestion was to go along and ask questions – if the people running the Alpha course do not have answers, they will say so… but will try to get an answer for you by the next time.
I can only answer from my personal experience – when I am riding (or in the mtns skiing) I look at the view and marvel at God's creation. My feelings.

    Make your own mind up.
Go along – ask questions and see what you find out.
I happen to believe in God. I guess I can't believe all of this world happened by chance – too much faith required for that.
My experience with the Alpha course was that it was an open friendly place with all questions accepted and treated seriously – have a go.

Just seen the 2010 AnthemX at the Worlds – Drool – I believe the have a womens version too. Thinking very hard about resisting the urge to test ride…(I already have a 2008 version!) The carbon top of the range is scary light with the Sram XX kit.
