What has age got to do with rotors wearing?

OK – but it’s the uneven wear I’m concerned about – it’s never happened with other brakes I’ve used (Shimano, Hope) with similar usage.

What’s the kW rating on the Aqualisa? Site doesn’t seem to say(??)

kW rating is not really relevant as it’s not an eletric shower – it mixes the water from the cold & hot water supply. The pump runs on low voltage supplied by a transformer (mines in the loft).

what’s the noise like from the self contained unit?

Not excessive – the flow of the water mostly drowns it out.

If you’re fitting a new bathroom out get it done properly with a power shower – it might cost more but you won’t regret it.

Electric mains showers aren’t very good – they just don’t heat the water enough to give a decent flow rate. I’ve got a Aqualisa Aquastream which is a self contained power shower which has an excellant flow rate.

In 99% of cases it is not a disease. It’s a lifestyle choice.

I disagree. If people knew about the rubbish treatment that can be dished out to thyroid disease sufferers in the UK then they wouldn’t be so quick to criticise.

Perhaps the thyroid sufferers are the 1%

I suspect the Americans don’t really want him anyway – they don’t know what else might come out. Better to have someone they can demonize in an out of reach place than the embarrassment of a trail of a whistle blower.

We’ve got the worlds worst National anthem anyway

    Which one would you prefer?

One that mentioned Britain & the British people perhaps

We’ve got the worlds worst National anthem anyway – so it would be hard to make it any worse. Makes my skin crawl every time I here it – nothing to do with Britain or the British people just about the queen. It should be renamed the queen’s anthem as it’s very little to do with the nation or the people.

    start time of 8.30

Start as early as possible to avoid the hoards & traffic. We used to go for a 6.00am start and were in Brighton in time for a pub lunch. If somebody is picking you up get them to arrive in Brighton early as well as the traffic queues back miles in the afternoon.

Use Organic pads and bleed/replace brake fluid.
    Other options – bigger discs.

    insurance on the lift pass

I guess you’re referring to adding Carte Neige on the Ski pass – which only covers you for recovery from the mountain side to the nearest medical facility – not sure if operates in the summer.

I’d avoid KS at the moment – I’ve got one and am having problems with it. I took it back the LBS I bought it from and they told me KS don’t currently have a UK distributor so the can’t send it to anyone to be serviced.

Mate has just got a Reverb and reckons it’s miles better than the KS he used to have.

Could be the derailleur is not adjusted properly – the end stop is not set correctly or the cable is too loose/tight.
Alternative is the cassette is worn but this is unlikely as you say it happens in the hardest gear – smallest cog I assume – which rarely wears – it’s usually the largest cog that wears first.
There should be plenty on youtube showing how to adjust derailleurs.

Regular size mug and smallish size piece of cake from what I recall

You don’t mention the change in prices:

Coffee £2, Cake £2 – that’s £8 for Coffee and cake for just 2 of us the other day.

Bleach and a boil wash. You need to kill off the bugs living on the detergent build up.

I tried this once – was like putting bubble bath in the machine – bubbles came out of everywhere.

I am going to wait until I am close to retirement age and will pay it in a lump sum

Are you sure you can do this? I think you can pay a few back dated years – 3 maybe 6 but not 17.

esure is being floated next week – I was initially tempted but then realized if it’s been offered to the public it can’t be a good deal. If it was a good buy the institutional buyers would snap it up and they wouldn’t have to revert to off loading it on to old mug public. The more public flotations there are the closer to top of the market we get.

I know someone who had a large conservatory built – it cut out most the light making the lounge dark and gloomy. They ended up having 2 new windows fitted to get some light into the room.

Ignore the offer – every time I’ve been made an offer like this the item always goes for much more in the auction. It’s somebody trying to get the items on the cheap.

You pay for your bike luggage (£25 each way or something) which gives you upto 32kg for the bike bag.

I don’t think that’s right – the £25 buys you an extra 12kg on top of the 20kg luggage allowance making a total of 32kg.

Bike Verbier: £755.55 (converted from Swiss francs at Google’s suggested rate)
Bike Village: £675.10 (converted from euros at Google’s suggest rate)
White Room: £545 (priced in pounds)

Bike Verbier maybe more expensive than others but it’s worth it – you get what you pay for. I’ve been with other cheaper companies and they were cheap for a reason – badly organized, average food & poor accommodation, etc…

If you want the best you’ve got to pay for it and Bike Verbier are the best.

I went for an interview once and it went so badly I phoned up the recruitment agent afterwards and told them to forget about it. Next day she told me they thought I was great and when could I start.

So don’t give up yet – you never know.

Use 75%/25% paint/water white emulsion for the first coat and then 90%/10% for the second. Then another 2+ full colour coats on top of that.

Never use cheap paint it’s a false economy – gives poor coverage and is more difficult to apply. Steer clear of own brand paints – they’re rubbish, stick with well known brands like Dulux, Crown, Leyland, etc.

Another thing worth checking with the HMRC is whether your wife is still receiving NI credits towards her state pension. My understanding is that a non working mother receives NI credits if claiming CB for children up to 12 years old. Of course your wife may be working so this doesn’t concern you. I’m not sure how this affects 50k+ earners either.

I may have got my facts wrong but worth finding out about.

How old are the storage heaters – the heating elements can become corroded and inefficient in old heaters. You can replace the elements – they look a bit like an old style electric kettle element or preferably the whole heater.
