The London to Brighton walk is on this weekend as well – that’s only 100km though.

[/quote]electric assist might be more helpful.

We met a retired guy last week on the North Downs Way riding a HaiBike – he raved about it. Said it had a 40 mile range, handled like normal bike and he left us for dead on the hills. Not cheap but it meant he could ride every day now he was retired:

Pump – It’s a Topeak Joe Blow Max II track pump bought primarily for mountain bike tyres but I just stuck some road tyres on my hybrid.

Any recommendations for same sort of price (£25) that’ll do a better job?

is fitted with only a Freeview, not a FreeviewHD tuner!

Why don’t you do some research on the specification of what you’re buying?

Aldi Wagyu burgers – best burgers I’ve ever tasted. If they haven’t sold out I’m getting some more today after looking at the cycling kit.

I’ve just changed the tyres on my hybrid from 32mm to 25mm – it’s transformed the performance of the bike for the better. Only slight regret was not going a step further with some 23mm tyres.

Easy jet has a 32kg allowance.

32kg for the bike plus 23kg normal baggage = 53kgs – should be enuff

Just bought pair of SLX brakes and the brake lever position adjuster was worth the purchase price alone – no more fiddling around with tiny allen keys.

I wouldn’t get the Super Star ones because of the drill pattern on the breaking surface – 2 concentric circles of drilled holes and a solid band in between. I had some Formula discs with the same design and they wore the pads unevenly as the solid band between the drilled holes is in contact with the pads more than the drilled areas. I phoned Super Star to raise this issue but was dismissed but as Scotty said “You can’t change the Laws of physics Captain”

Best thing to do is to borrow one off somebody – you’re bound to know someone who bought one, used it for a week and then realised that shop bread is much less trouble. After a week you’ll come to the same realization. All it will have cost you is a few quid on yeast and flour. You can then give it back to the owner – who thought they’d got rid of the damn thing.

    These are monster hooks:

    http://www.homebase.co.uk/en/homebaseuk/diy/hooks-and-clips/heavy-duty-elephant-hook—black—1-pair-360430

They’re £3.50 each but they are twice the size of any other hook I’ve ever seen.

The boiler’s a bit newer, but still probably 20 years old, so is going to be replaced

What makes you think a new boiler will be better than an old one? – an older boiler may be far superior to a modern one:

I was off the bike for 9 months and I found it was best to avoid even thinking about mountain biking all together – it just reminded me of what I was missing. I started swimming again and haven’t stopped even though I’m back biking now.

You may get a decent tenant every so often

Demographic behaviour is more likely governed by the quality of the area than the residents

I don’t live a run down area – minimum house prices round here are £450k for a 2 bed terrace.

Have you ever lived next to a house that’s rented out? – it’s awful. It’s usually badly maintained and the garden is poorly looked after. You may get a decent tenant every so often but it’s normally noisy sharers or a problem family. Over the last 10 years both houses either side of me have alternated between no problem owner occupiers & big problem tenants. Don’t do it – don’t risk inflicting nuisance neighbours on somebody.

Endura have 2 grades of light reactive glasses – LightReactive Plus & LightReactive. The LRPlus are 80%-20% & the LR 40%-10%. The LPRlus cost about £80 & the LR about £40. I had a pair of Masai Glasses which were functionally excellent although the lens seemed to scratch fairly easily and the frames eventually broke. I’m not sure I’d get another pair.

I wish someone would invent a fast forward button and I could skip the next 2 weeks and get back to normal living.

Mind you I wouldn’t have missed today’s ride – bone dry empty trails – best conditions for months. If you can get out in the next few days do it.

Just looked on the Specsavers web site – don’t be surprised if they recommenced you they most expensive ones. Prices vary from £16/30 pairs to £30/30 pairs – they cheapest ones will probably do you fine.

I don’t live in Ireland either, and I’m unlikely to need an abortion TBH

    ‘No Man is an Island’

No man is an island entire of itself; every man
    is a piece of the continent, a part of the main;
if a clod be washed away by the sea, Europe
is the less, as well as if a promontory were, as
well as any manner of thy friends or of thine
own were; any man’s death diminishes me,
because I am involved in mankind.
And therefore never send to know for whom
the bell tolls; it tolls for thee.

I doubt very much it’ll be a case of “well….I could help you but the bible tells me..”

    They say that in Ireland:
