You’ll probably only have to drill the head off the screws – should be able to spin the threads out with your fingers. You may need a toughened drill bit if the screws are steel – larger diameter than the thread width.

I’ve got a Garmin Edge 200 which is excellent bit if kit but if I was to buy another I’d get one with maps – it would make following routes much easier.

    Why is breaststroke verboten?

Because it was the fast lane – should be front crawl only

£250,000 which wont give you a brilliant annuity income but is still a substantial lump sum.

You haven’t factored inflation into the calculation – £250,000 in twenty years time will be worth much less than it is today.

The earth is like a giant storage heater – it takes a long time to heat up and to cool down. That’s why it’s colder in January & February than December as the cooling takes it’s time. Similarly in the Summer – July and August are usually warmer than June.

CRC – Just pay the extra £1.99 and get it delivered to the local Collect+ agent. Saves you all the trouble of waiting in for / missing a delivery, it’s faster than RM and much better tracking info.

Teak oil – give it a clean & light rub down then apply Wilkos teak oil with cloth. Cheap & you’ll do it in no time – £5/litre:

Fit some zee/saint calipers to your levers?

    One option I’m considering

Any reason you need saints over zees?

Zees – No easy lever adjustment

SLX should have shitloads of power

I previously had Formula RX brakes that had loads of power but no modulation – The SLX brakes have loads of modulation but not the power. I want both power & modulation.

He’s also saying he’s never heard of any issue in securing a mortgage on this block of flats.

He would say that – if you’re having trouble getting a mortgage so will a future purchaser when you want to sell in a few years time. Start looking for somewhere else.

What is the advantage of some other solution over shoelaces?

Faster, easier – originally developed for triathlon transition.
Also the laces don’t wear out from the repeated tieing/untieing.

Don’t know where you live but I once went on a excellent all day course run by this shop in Cheam, South West London:

You essentially participate in the whole process of making the beer – everybody taking it turns to have a go at one of the stages. Only £35 including lunch and as much beer as you can drink.

    to a Specialized toupe

I’ve just suffered months of pain from a Specialized Toupe. I finally gave up on it and swapped it for the saddle off my Boardman hybrid – the pain is almost gone. I was going to bin it just in case I was ever tempted to use it again but sense got the better of me and I ebayed it.

The pain could still be from the original saddle – the bruising/soreness may not have completely healed yet.

It doesn’t seem to have even crossed your mind that you’re overpaid – entitlement syndrome?

I retrained my brain to use my left hand for mousing

I think you’re been a bit dramatic here – it took me a maximum of 2 mins to get the hang of it. Now I can swap mouse hands whenever it suits without a problem and I’m not ambidextrous or have any other specials skills.

If it is hot it is hot and it will radiate that heat as efficiently as the design allows. Being hotter can’t possibly mean it isn’t as efficient as if it is running cooler.

What I meant was that if it’s always hot then the heat isn’t being dissipated very well. Radiators should be hot when they’re raising the temperature in a room and cool down when the required temperature has been reached. A radiator with a larger surface area will perform this more efficiently than one with a smaller surface area.

Does not make sense – are you saying that a cooler radiator will heat a room more efficiently? Surely if the radiator is hotter more heat gets radiated into the room?

The idea is that the heat is transferred from the radiator to the room – not just kept within itself. A proper radiator is able to perform it’s task more efficiently because it has a larger surface area. Think fins on brake pads – they dissipate the heat away from the brakes more effectively due to increased surface area.

Well, so hot that I can’t even touch it properly, like a pot handle when it’s been in the oven for 10 minutes…

That’s a sign it’s inefficient and not heating the room – it should be dissipating the heat. Get rid of it and get a proper radiator in.

    teef

But teef – they only had a towel radiator before…

Maybe it had a larger surface area than the new one…

    teef

Heated towel rails are never going to be as good as a radiator at heating a room – the surface area is smaller so they can’t transfer the heat to the room as efficiently. If it’s always hot that tells you it’s not working very well – it should transferring the heat from itself to the room. A mate of mine had a vertical tubular style radiator in his lounge and it was always hot but was useless at heating the room – looked nice though. Replace it with a normal radiator – a device designed to heat space – and your problems should be solved.

Just take it to your local ChipsAway, pay the £50 and get on with your life.

It’s going to be more than £50 – £500 more likely.

I heard a guy on Radio 4 this morning saying it’s because they mainly eat squid and there ain’t no squid in the North Sea. They were probably weak and dehydrated as they get all the water from their prey.

Whales have been beaching for millions of years and it’s nothing to do with man or sonar. They just ended up in the wrong place with nothing to eat.
