Just watching the news about the President getting flak for not been in the country to supervise the rescue efforts – what could he do anyway apart from get in the way and do the usual political grandstanding. He's not going to be flying aid in or driving foods trucks. I suspect the aid workers on the the ground are glad there's one less politician around.

My buyer has apparently paid for a survey (three weeks ago) and is waiting for a date.

Sounds like nonsense – I can't believe surveyors are that busy at the moment.

Ask Jeff – this guy writes a weekly property advice column for the Telegraph:

    http://www.askjeff.co.uk/cavity.html

I think he also advises against excessive loft insulation as it can cause condensation in the loft space unless it is well ventilated.

Wait till they're right next door. The music starts at 7am, the dog barks from 8, it barks all day in the house and then the music starts again when they get home and goes on till about 10-11pm.

Are these people owners or tenants? – if tenants get in touch with the landlord. I had neighbours like this once but 2 days after speaking to the landlord they where given notice to leave.

I bought one once on ebay – stank due to previous owner being smoker. Wouldn't buy another on hygiene grounds.

Are they owners or tenants? If tenants a word with the landlord usually does the trick – especially if you exaggerate a little.

Teef, dont listen to them! the world is a dangerous place and you cant do enough to keep safe. Personally I also never give presents anymore after i read that sellotape gives off x-rays! I cant go putting myself at risk like that for other peoples happiness. Of course my other half says i could still by the presents but i think giving an unwrapped present is cheap so i just dont give one at all :0)

I think im gonna go hide in a corner, nowhere is safe! Better take my cycle-helmet too, just incase like.

It's OK – I've come across unintelligent, uneducated, ignorant people before.

"I'm impressed on how you managed to post that from a non electricity powered computer"

The current, voltage and magnetic field are much higher in a substation than in the home – my college electrical lecturer advised not to live within 50m of a substation, particularly if you had children.

Iron in your blood – oscillating magnetic field – why take the risk? Even if there where any studies showing ill effects I doubt if they'd have been published – hushed up more like.

no return on gold just hope for capital appreciation.

Gold always retains its value and are far as getting no return – you get a negative return on cash as the interest rates are below the inflation rate. All paper money continuously devalues (inflation) and eventually becomes worthless. Gold has been valued for 5000 years and will probably remain so for another 5000 – or at least until the kids are 18.

    I wouldn't get into gold now….

Go for fixed term bonds – that way you know the interest rate and when they mature you'll be informed.

You'll probably be able to remove the remaining thread with your fingers after drilling off the bolt head. The tension is between the bolt head and the cleat not in the thread.

Stock market crashes are good as long as you aren't cashing it in when the market's low.

So you've got to lucky when you cash in – you may not have the choice in the timing.

The last person you need to see is a pensions advisor – more commonly known as a salesman. Ever heard of a Double Glazing advisor or Second hand car advisor. I wouldn't bother as pensions are for the benefit of the life companies not the policy holders. The amount of money you'll have to save is astronomical – just to get a £18,000/annum annuity you'll need to save £300,000. It's like buying another house on the side and remember this is not allowing for inflation so in 30 years time you'll probably need £1,000,000 saved up. All your contributions will disappear in commissions, fees and stock market crashes. Educate yourself and manage your own money – don't let the financial industry thieves near it.

I've got a black car but wish I had a silver/white one. Black absorbs heat so is hopeless in the summer. Whenever I park I spend a few minutes trying to figure out where the sun and shade will be in a few hours when I return.
