    Gas Central heating
There’s a reason why people have Gas central heating – because it works – best money I ever spent on the house.
Why a Combi boiler – only suitable for flats surely?

    Under floor heating
    Expensive to run
How do you fix it when it fails?
Solar panels ain’t going to be much good in the winter for powering the heating in Britain

Endura ones are too dark – I’ve a pair of El Toro which work well but don’t look very stylish (probably why they’re half price).

Noisy people never think they are noisy – they always think they are normal. Did it ever cross your mind you are bad neighbours?

Test it yourself – switch everything off and put a 1 kW heater on for an hour – see if it uses 1kWh of electricity.

Get baggies without liners and buy some proper lycra shorts to wear underneath. As bloke in shop said to me this week a decent pair of lycra shorts are min £30 so it’s no wonder liners supplied with £45 baggies are no good.

Get down the dry ski slope for a couple of lessons (private if you afford) and you’ll be streets ahead of all the other beginners and enjoy the holiday far more.

Bigger rotors means more leverage and possibly at an angle to the designed brake mounting point due to adaptor extra length

What size rotors are your stays rated for? – mate of mine snapped his using a 203 rotor and it cost him £350 to replace them.

Chancers trying to get the car cheap – probably dealers. Think about it – who would offer to buy a car without even seeing it? They’ll probably try and knock the price down when they get there. Every time I’ve been offered money early on an auction it’s sold for twice as much in the end. Let the auction go – remember bids always come in at the last moment.

I has a pair of AM3s 130mm travel forks which looked like the photos. By the way they can be converted to 150mm travel by removing an internal plastic spacer.

It’s not worth saving as the inflation rate is higher than any savings rate you’ll get – so you’ll end up losing spending power.
It’s not worth paying off the mortgage as inflation will diminish the debt over time.
Put your money in an inflation proof investment – let me know when you find one!

4 secs a day sounds good – my Rolex loses 2 or 3 minutes a week. I used to have to set it forward so as not to miss the train in the morning. If you want accuracy get yourself a quartz – expensive Swiss watches are mostly for show not telling the time.

Be wary of people who tell about how they make money on the stock market – they’re a bit like gamblers only telling you about their winners.

The owner didn’t mention it on the seller form he’s meant to declare it on

What else didn’t the seller didn’t tell you about? – mind you I don’t think I’d mention either!

What I’m most impressed by is the attitude of the people who have been flooded out. Haven’t heard a word of complaint from people who have lost everything in stark contrast to all the whining from the people of Northern Ireland who have lost the water supply for a few days. You can see where the saying “Whinging Pommes” comes from.

Best way to learn maintenance skills is to just start doing your own maintenance. Bikes ain’t that complicated – a few cogs, cables, bearings – that’s about all there is to them.

Just had a thought – Chain Reaction are based in Northern Ireland and didn’t they have a Water Damaged stock sale on a couple of years ago – maybe they’ll be repeating it.

Unless you really need the money I wouldn’t rent it out. It’s good to have a base to come home to and when you get back you’ll probably have to redecorate, have a whole series of things to fix – not to mention the garden.
