I can say from my own experience that now I much prefer to run my car on V-Power Diesel and will go out of my way to use it.

I have many times grumbled about the low engine speed performance of modern diesels – sluggish and unresponsive – however since always running V Power through it, the general pootling performance has improved leading to a more relaxed drive about town and improved fuel economy and less grumbly me

It got me thinking a bit, you wouldn’t go fast on a motor cycle with a live frame would you? Maybe it’s time for the road bike suspension revolution..

Spokes are probably too short, not enough meat in the nipple. So to speak….

Motorhome tyres are better, however they are limited in choices and are costly.

I tend to use quality commercial tyres and because the speeds tend to be lower, although the van is heavily loaded I have never had a significant problem.

Caution, buy a decent tyre – we found the cheaper Avon commercial tyre not stiff enough in the carcass to cope with the transfer of load into corners and it made the rear wayward!

My guess would be either a mount for a potentiometer or some other data collection device.

Its a prototype – it’ll probably be apart every other run so a device to reduce time apart probably isn’t important

Another Weber ‘Q’ user here – Fabulous.

There are lots of pros and cons of both types – for us, the gas powered Weber that can be plugged into our camper is the the best thing ever. I know last year we had a ‘BBQ’ everytime we were away but up till that point we would never have taken charcoal and bothered with that hassle.

So whether gas is or isn’t proper can be debated, standing out in the sunshine with a beer, cooking various animals after riding some sweet scottish trails felt pretty much like BBQing to me….

I was the Sport rider that ended up my arse at the start yesterday, some stupid argey bargey, someone hooked my bars and levered my front wheel off the floor. All I can remember is trying to grab my bike as I slid along the grass on my back. Not a scratch on me. Been a long time since I rode a national and had my arse handed to me.

There is even a CCDB available in that size.

Basically – until recently its been one of the most common sizes of shock – you can buy new or 2nd hand easily in that size. The only other thing should be hardware to suit your shock – again easily available 8×22 only varience will be the make of the shock.

    190×50 is a standard size.

Use anything from anyone in that size. RP23 or DHX coil of some variety….

A friend once got offered a leather jacket in a service station, as they handed the nice ‘sample’ Gucci jacket through the window he stomped on the throttle of his still running van and disappeared up the motorway.

Noooooo – Dont put a DHX air on it. Not unless you want more of the same.

Awesome, i’d buy another in a heartbeat.

Would like a niche/small production/arty cross specific only companies offering but the Trek rides better, cheaper, better warranty and I can get the hangers when I launch it half way up a tree.

Excellent service life, cheaper, stiffer more simple to fit/unfit Whats not to like.

Ran them on a road frame for 3 (2nd set only due to swapping C/set) seasons and now well into my 2nd year on the MTB.

    You’re Welcome.

See you at the start of the 140km? or are you going to sit in the wind for 2hrs before doing the 140km?

NOT recommended, the RP23 has a bypass port (that little bump at the end of the air can)for when the shock reaches full extension, if you dont allow the show to fully extend then it wont work properly.

One of the guys from TF Tuned has got a Fuel EX with a DHX 3.0 in the back and he says it rides awesome, might be worth having a chat as it took him quite a while to get it all dialled.

Hell yeah – my CB will somewhere between that and the 360 in the picture.

I want more colour than the usual UK built silver and black Tritons and the like. So I have found a VW colour from the ’76-’78 that ill paint it in with a metal flake stripe. The engine is off at the vapour blasters at the moment getting cleaned before its painted.

Ill soon have a build link going on somewhere before long….

Here is my current muse – I have my engine off getting blasted ready for paint while I strip the frame in shed. It wont be far off this… But its gonna cost – 🙁

I would look at something like an early 80’s Jap machine – Yam XS250, Honda CX500, Suz GS500 –

Good for you, I’m just starting down the road a of a similar project.

One word of warning, CB450’s aint that cheap anymore – You may find a CB250,350 or 500, but it seems the 450’s are asking plenty for even something thats been dragged from the bottom of a pond. This is because people are spending a fortune to turn them into Drixton’s – Fantastic but spendy – Twin OHC motor thats a little harder to come by. Not ideal if your skint, unless you know of a stock of them for cheap cheap then ill take 2…..

That and now ive started my own cafe project (about 3 months ago) i can tell you everything costs about 3 times as much as you budget for….

Good luck – let me know how your getting on.

2.0 TDI (170) in Seat Altea – Worst car I have ever driven – Thirsty, impossible to drive without loads of lag, span the front wheel constantly so wore front tyres for a habit. Handed it back to Seat with a turd in the glove box.

1.9 if I was forced to have a VAG car…..
