I’m no expert but wouldn’t it be prudent to cancel the card and get it replaced.

FWP resolved – my boots turned up all the way from the good ol’ US and, surprisingly, didn’t turn out to be a slice of pizza.

Woah, that’s quite specialist; an on the spot shave with a blunt instrument in revenge for having an attitude problem.

    Cool and creative…

But it is a bit unnerving when you go over one through a turn and for a split second, the steering suddenly lightens and catches as you go over it. Never had that with any other car but presume it’s down to the lack of give in the sidewalls meaning the grip breaks away more suddenly with the change in surface grip.

I have a 2009 Clubman at the moment – lovely little car and handles pretty well. But… there’s this one corner on which the back will always step out and as you put it, the front goes light briefly. I suspect it’s a sunken manhole cover but haven’t been that concerned to stop and look. It’s a stretch I only do in low light so always catches me. This glitch could be a characteristic of the car because I haven’t used run flats yet. It could also be that I’m more than likely a shit driver…

not sure whether it’s the run flats or a Mini trait, but they slide badly on manhole covers.

    That’s a manhole cover thing… 😉

    Paging Mikewsmith…!

But seriously, blowing a kiss can be just as antagonistic as flicking a finger or two. Either ignore and ride on or adopt an attitude whereby every car that doesn’t wipe you out is a good car and secretly thank them for not doing so.

    Perhaps chant this…

there are plenty enough nobs out there on the road and I don’t want to be one of them.

Yeah, I’m not too shabby at this.

I don’t drink really posh stuff, just your average bag from a supermarket but my dad has always had a similar reaction to some on here – like the smell, hate the taste. Until I added a drop of single cream* (and sugar, if that’s your bag) and then he claimed it tasted as good as its aroma.

I had some coffee once – friend of a good friend, really posh flat in a London mews somewhere nameless. Tasted fruity and sweet without sugar. Nothing I’ve purchased pre-ground from a supermarket has ever tasted like that, or stuff from an old friend’s pro machine with freshly cooked beans. **** knows what that was.

Maybe it all comes down to how you tamp it down and I’m simply lacking the right equipment…

*Don’t use Elmlea. For some reason it has a weird taste that doesn’t complement coffee in the slightest.

Amarula cheesecake here – baked deepdish type. Literally cooling in the oven with the door ajar with me sat nearby hoping it doesn’t crack.

Boozy but bloody delicious and probably the only seasonal concession this year.

Edukator now has an actual picture of Junkyard in his dossier.

    🙂

Despite previous run-ins with him I think Edukator’s a cool cat, though possibly slightly autistic with the memory thing. Much like a few others on this thread, myself included.

But I’m definitely making a print of that JY pic to go above the bed to help out when all else is failing.

I also think it was TSY, so your dossier doesn’t need updating.

IIRC someone got a lifetime ban after a Twitter conversation, so there can be some off-forum discussion going on.

Yeah, I forgot about Twitter. I remember there were some (Phil)consequences as a result of something that went down. I have no idea of who said what about what…

Edit : Actually, I think it was Southern Yeti and not Phil but I’ll leave my attempt at humour.

From certain posts I’ve read over the years where clear references to a FB comment are made it kind of clinches it for me, so hardly inaccurate.

But we could argue the toss all day – and just in time for pantomime season, too. Let’s just say scone or scone and be done, eh.

Having said that I think some of teasel’s assumptions of how things work here are misplaced – it’s certainly not deliberate.

Well, one of my assumptions was that threads on this forum get discussed on Facebook and so certain info gets lost to some. By mentioning the FB connection you’ve kind of confirmed that as a possibility.

Also, some of my assumptions are based on other things I haven’t mentioned here but are shared by Bullheart, for instance, which he revealed many moons ago, the subject of which shall not be discussed for fear of a lifetime ban. Some read his short-lived post (and took a copy), others weren’t so quick…

Not to mention that a lot of us only post when we feel compelled to do so due to a strong opinion about something, which means in some cases you only ever interact with the most extreme facets of a person’s nature, if you catch my drift?

I do and that’s quite astute of you. We only see the passion of the poster, as it were.

And for the record, I laugh at a lot of what gets posted most of the time (Junkyard included) but that probably comes down to the threads I choose to open.

Most long running threads hold little appeal.

Junkyard does not use smilies to indicate he is not being serious.

    He does these days.

But in order to keep this from spilling onto even more pages, I’ll agree; it was my mistake.

    Firstly…

Having spent a few hours and drunk a cup of tea or two with Junkyard, and not had a single quote related argument

    …LOL

Secondly, everyone has the opportunity to read and correct a post for 15 minutes. You can choose to be rude or condescending or humorous or a mix. You can offset hardened prose with a smiley but still get your point across. I demonstrate on that thread that anyone can be rude and condescending in order to “teach” someone about themselves. JY, at that point in time and no doubt others since, was rude and it’s a deliberation. With me in particular he edited a post to add a condescending comment. Pork Wah…?!!

There’s no need, regardless of whether or not you’re acquainted with that person. True respect is impartial.

There’s a thread about some dude suing for busting himself whilst being taught not to or somesuch…

That’s not the first run in with JY, Cougar, though it’s probably the one about which I was warned. The first run in set the tone TBH and I’ll sadly admit to feeling a little vengeful after being on the receiving end of his “teaching” method on a previous thread, which is, after all, the stance I initially take on the Hebdo thread.

But… it’s an interesting thread to highlight. Contained within is examples of someone rushing to defend one of their own, someone remembering a post or two from way back being accused of stalking and a post removed whereby I demonstrate my true tone by using merino in place of cotton. It’s the small details, y’see…

I mimicked his behaviour – he didn’t like it, unsurprisingly. To allow one user and not the other to behave in such a fashion is biased, whichever way you want to cut it.

I’m bored of messing with him now so warning or not it’s over. Despite claiming he wouldn’t modify his behaviour he actually has. I’m chuffed with that! Really; it’s a Good Thing.

Thats not to invalidate your view as its real to you but its not the sort of thing that concerns me at all.

Like I wrote, it didn’t at first other than an ooookay moment. It’s the way it’s continued for the last five years that’s made it a small issue – by that I mean I’m saddened – but I do have a tendency to be up for a laugh on this forum rather anything serious and take no interest in the political threads. Most of my posts consist of one-liners and pedantic puns for which I don’t really expect a response.

or maybe they have me killfiled

I just assume everyone has me Killfiled tbh 🙂

Perhaps these get overlooked because a lot of people are more interested in arguing than learning anything?

It does seem that way. Or winning; folk love to win on this forum.

    An example of Mod bias.

I had a run in with Junkyard. He received an email telling him to inform them when I “picked on him”. I received an email telling me I’d be banned if I continued to “engage with this user”.

A balanced response, I’m sure you’ll agree. Definitely not influenced buy how long both members have used the forum, for sure.

    Here you go, TJ…

    http://singletrackworld.com/forum/topic/why-arent-there-more-women-posting-on-the-forum-some-research/page/2

On this thread I was reasonably new to the forum but added my bit on the subject. A few posts later Cougar made almost the same point and suddenly the tag “Cougar wise old owl” pops up. It was as if no one read my post, which in this instance is incredibly ironic given the subject on which I made comment.

It just would’ve been nice to be recognised for making the point and maybe it wouldn’t be an issue if it hadn’t happened on a number of occasions since.

    I wanna be wise, dammit…!

In reality I think too many folk are influenced by the pseudo, so yeah; folk definitely pay attention to who posts IME.
