Not discontinued and in stock at Madison…

They really need to be fitted using the correct Shimano oven to ensure the correct temperature.

Not sure about the shop's response as Madison have not said that they can only fit the shoes if they were bought instore. It's the shop's equipment and they can charge as much, or as little, as they like.

Another vote for the Remington one. Set to number 3, can't go wrong.

I didn't think much of Cav's book, Bradley Wiggins 'In pursuit of glory' is a much better read IMHO.

The shifting won't be as good and there will be more torque placed on the freehub. Dyna-Sys is all about useable close ratio gears so using a 9-speed chainset won't really reap any benefit.

thebunk – You can use 9 speed SLX cranks but should realy fit the Dyna-Sys chainrings as the ratios are different, as is the spacing between the chainrings due to the narrower chain.

RepacK – The 2x10s chainsets have a narrower q factor as they are designed mainly for XC hardtails. For FS bikes there is a 2×10 38-26 option which has the same q factor as the triple and M970 XTR chainsets.

Compatibility is pretty easy for new XTR. The shifters do both 2×10 and 3×10, the only specific parts for 2×10 are the chainset and front mech.

All Shimano 10-speed Dyna-Sys cassettes fit on existing 9-speed freehubs.

The reason a 9-speed rear mech won't work with new 10-speed is that the cable pull is different.

You said distance isn't an issue so what about the Isle of Wight? We just had a great family holiday there.

I've got one and think it's great. Sorted geometry and comfy without flexing all over the place.

However, I am actually thinking of selling it in favour of a short travel full suss for marathon racing next year. If you're interested in a 19" frame, Fox forks and Chris King headset or maybe even the complete bike let me know.

Did you use the same length chain as your old set up?

Got up at 5.30am and drove for 2 1/2 hours to round 1 of the Thetford Summer Series only for a car to crash into mine less than 1 mile from the race site. Had to wait over an hour for the RAC and then spent 3 1/2 hours in an RAC recovery truck back home. Sat down to watch the Giro and they’ve decided to have a pootle round the middle of Milan…

At least Peaty and Gee got GBR a 1-2 in the DH :-)

I’m pretty sure the pump has been on all the time as it powers a little waterfall. As for the amount of electricity it uses, I did wonder about that. The pond is about 8 foot x 3 foot.

The pump housing is quite big and what I’m assuming are the filters (black round plastic things) are massive (dustbin lid size). There are loads of plants in the pond and they have grown rapidly over the past few days.

Maybe I’m being overly optimisitc but seen as I’m paying for the electricity I think it would be nice to actually see the fish…

Doubtful, I was told by a manufacturer that shims need to be at least 1mm thick.
