Start time? Cheeky short cuts? Is it a new event or has someone done it before? Worth spending 4 hours and 10 Euros on?

It’s important to use the yellow block for bleeding and don’t push the pistons back with a sharp metal object such as a screwdriver or you can crack the ceramic pistons.

Did the brakes come with the yellow block?

The two main lifts out of Morzine are both bubble cars so there’s nowt to worry about there. Our 4 year old loved the lifts last year and kept asking to go on the “chair rides”.

If you’re going to the swimming lakes at Les Gets and Lac Montriond just get the bus.

I love my Meta 6 and find it way more useable than I thought. It’s happy in the Alps or riding the local Singletrack. So much so that I’ve decided to sell my 5″ travel Santa Cruz Nickel as I hardly ever ride it.

Be warned though that the standover height on the large Meta 6 isn’t great. You also need to have the Maxle on the rear or it all gets a bit bendy.

If you need any more Meta 6 info let me know.

JP, what size Nickel frame are you looking for? Thinking of selling my large as I’ve only riddeen it a few times. It’s seabright blue with an RP23 shock if that helps.

I am on my 3rd Wilier and think they are great. There is something about the way they ride; lively, stiff yet very comfortable.

I now have a Cento Uno (used to have a Thor then an Izoard)although I’ve built it with Shimano…

Usually lots of Belgium beer to be had in Holland. Quite often its hidden away but look out for the chalice style branded glasses which give it away.

The mucky bike has one of those orange warning stickers on the downtube near the chainset.

It would seem the amazing powers of Muc Off have removed it in the other photo…

    Any more???

    They got me too.

Ordered something from CRC for the first time in at least a year and a couple of days later my card was declined due to fraud. After talking to the bank there were 3 attempted transactions that weren’t mine; a garden centre, a hardware store and something else.

Lots of different info here, hopefully this will clear things up a bit:

Both Shimano road and MTB 10-speed chains use the same 10-speed pins to join.

The main difference between Shimano road and MTB chains are the position and shapes of the plates due to the difference in chainring and cassette sizes when comparing road to MTB. The inner links on MTB chains are also solid for increased strength.

If a Shimano chain has a short pin in it, this is an OEM pin which is usually fitted in the factory using an air gun. I would recommend removing this pin and fitting a snap off pin as it is very difficult to get the short pin in the correct position using a regular chain tool.

    Hope this helps.

I have a pair of 2.4 Black Chilli folders for sale if you are interested? They have been fitted but never used as the rear caught on the swingarm.

    £45 posted for the pair?

I’m using the Race brakes with the Ice-Tec rotors and finned pads and they are way more powerful than old XTR. You’ll have to hope that Shimano bring out a 6-bolt Ice-Tec rotor.

You can adjust the reach on the Race brakes using an Allen key although it won’t change the power. You can also put the pads with the fins in your calipers as only the levers are different between the Race and Trail versions.

Are you using the Ice-Tec rotors? Were they bled using the little yellow pot?

You mean ‘What 29er’ magazine? Mine arrived yesterday, full of 29ers again.

I have nothing against wagon wheelers but someone should remind them that 26″ wheels do still exist.

That’s a very old article way before 7900 was launched. It’s all in the front mech and brakes, trust me! I sit very close to Mister P!

    Teapot

Yep, you can run a new generation road rear mech on older shifters and vice versa. The things that are different are the front mech pull due to the wider chainring spacing and the brake cable pull.

    Teapot

Almost there, it won’t work. Njee20 is right (except all Shimano road 10 speed is the same rear cable pull, it’s the front that is different on 7900, 6700 and 5700).

Just to reconfirm, you can’t mix Shimano 9 and 10 speed rear mechs and shifters.

It’s the same shifter with a converter underneath to choose between double and triple.

Btw, when fitting/ replacing the cable it has to be in triple mode.

No particular issues, except maybe how knackering it’ll be with the combination of riding and sleeping outdoors.

Is three days the right about of time to do it in?

Thinking of doing it solo if that makes a difference.
