I have a 100mm drop x fusion manic. No problem at all. Used on winter bike, no discernible play and still smooth.

I’ve run 3 or 4 11speed 46-11 on HG freehubs for a couple of years. All 3 have been very good. Shifting might not be as crisp as the 2 big S’s but it’s fine margins. They are very light and I’m not sure I’d be putting one on a e-bike.

I had the same kind of thoughts last autumn. Needed something to commute on as the mtb’s weren’t really working for that so I went for a Pinnacle Arkose 4. 45mm 700c version with 1 x 11 GRX. Like a lot on here I love it. Fast off road and pretty decent on road too. Fitness is going up too.

Art latex? I’ve used hobby crafts diluted with screen wash and a tube of cheap glitter for years. About £9 for 500mls.

Scanned thru the recent posts on this page and can’t see anyone that has answered the rocker plate question from a few months ago. I have just got one and yes it was expensive but I have gone from training for an hour and having coccyx pain to doing 2 hours with no problems apart from my fitness!!. Got a side to side and forward back plate and it feels odd at first but now feels very natural. Hopefully will help push my fitness as I can jump on and do the base miles cos when I’m outside I go a lot harder than I should.

Have you thought about Sidi mega shoes. I don’t have particularly funny shaped feet but I’ve ended up with a toe problem over the years and most shoes aggravate this. I have some sidi mega which are wider but the heel is still ‘ normal ‘ sized. I like them as they don’t feel sloppy and I have plenty of width. Use them with some specialized body geo insoles.

There is CCTV footage of the van and X5. Hopefully the police will be closing in. Details are on victims Facebook. Van is quite distinctive with white top half and what looks like a black bottom half.

I’ve got the Lidl one. Had it a few years now. Same problem as above. Bike used to rotate but I replaced the clamp with an old lever style seat clamp bolt and it’s fine now.

LSN are who I recommend and I have owned a powder coating company for 30 years. We aren’t geared up to the smaller bits and bobs. To answer your questions hardtailonly, yes you can coat a steel frame. They will probably dip strip the frame and possibly a light blasting to removed any rust spots. Powder won’t go into the tubes as it’s not a dipped process so some kind of waxoyl or engine oil sloshed around inside will help protect internally afterwards. Stickers can’t be powder coated over as the temps involved are anything from 170’c to 200’c but a clear coat wet paint can be sprayed over decals. If you can get hold of old metal bb shells put them in. As above have said sacrificial bolts in any holes you don’t want clogging up or tap them out afterwards.Any more questions drop me a PM

I can manage about 600 miles from a threaded sram dub bb. It’s just gone again so going to try an Uberbike one this time.

I’m using some 2.0 thunderburts that I’ve had rolled up in my spares box. Replacing some Rambler 45’s. No appreciable speed difference but a bit more comfort and a bit more control when hitting unexpected mud patches.

I use G Form knee elbow and occasionally vest. Comfy enough for all day and in the couple of crashes I managed to have they have kept my sticky out bits safe.

Ral standard powder coatings are made to a guide colour. This colour has to be within the tolerances of something called Delta E for each colour. A RAL 6009 from one manufacturer could have a delta e of 0.1 and another of 0.9, technically they are both RAL 6009 but will look subtly different.

Anyone got a clue if the Stans Crest 29” S1 wheelset is boost. No way of telling and even local Evans store can’t help.

PR Lotion from Amp Human (now called Momentous I think) bicarbonate lotion. Works for me. Reduces lactic build up and reduces DOMS.

I’ve got Wahoo and Magene. Both work well. Have replaced the belt on the wahoo but it was a cheapo one from eBay. Still works well though

Yep. Just get a small screwdriver between the body and the bush then tap it down. The bush will start to fold in on itself. Prise it a bit with the screwdriver and it should come out. I’ve had eggs for 20 years and bushes always get changed with a screwdriver and a hammer!.

I keep looking at this too. Great weekend and have really missed it. Still debating if it’s worth going for comedy festival and if it’s not on just going for a ride anyway.

I cracked a couple at fort William in oct 2018. Like above ribs healed after about 6months but I still get problems with intercostals. They seem to pop out where the injury was if I lift anything at a funny angle. Then it’s sore for a week or so.

Which version have you got? I have both the newer 2.0 and the cheaper older version. There is a marked difference in handling in the wet. ( 2.0 graphene is loads better) Obviously different compounds. I run mine with 15 psi in front and 17 in back. I’m a lightweight mincer though.

Called at the new Evans Cycles in Barnsley today to have a look at the Arkose. Nice big store and the mechanic took me thru the store room into a massive dead space at the back of the store, they could put a small oval track in it. Had a ride round on one, felt really nice and fit was good, I’m off back tomorrow to order one.

After my post last week regarding converting my hard tail into a monster cross and the general consensus that the top tube was far too long to make work I’ve been looking at getting a gravel bike for commuting and steady long days out. Budget will be 1.8k max. Liking the Arkose 4 but also the Nukeproof Digger, looks like the kind of thing I’m after too. Any thoughts, I know lots on here have Arkose but does anyone have experience with the Digger? Would be comp model. Thanks

I think thats a no then. I did have some Koga Denham bars which had bars welded on in a similar position in pic above but I couldn’t get on with the backsweep ( stealth for sale ad!!). Think I’ll try flat bars with bar ends on the inside. What kind of bar ends are they Mr Monk?

I think Covid has given delivery companies free reign to do whatever they want. We have had parcels delivered to our works for the past 15 years with no problems. Suddenly they can’t find us or the post code is wrong. I have lost an Exposure Six Pack light which was thrown over a palisade fence no where near where I work (DHL) and last week Yodel lost a turbo trainer which was ordered by one of my staff from Wiggle/CRC. The hassle getting it sorted was unreal. In the end they sent him another which he ended up going to depot 20 miles away to collect. How do you lose a turbo trainer?. We’ve had big problems over the last 2 years with DHL, FedEx, Hermes and Yodel and only one who seem to be ok are APC but on talking to their driver they are salaried and not paid per delivery.

Thanks guys. Just measured the tt as opposed to geo chart and it’s correct. I’ve tried the hand position on the turbo where I can get away with perching my hands loosely on the bars. Reason for question was exactly that, even compared to a radical gravel bike ( Evil chamois Hagar) the top tube is about 20mm longer. I’ll give it some thought.

Have you thought about a ZTTO slr2 cassette. I’ve been using them in 11speed HG setup with shimano XTR and Di2 and they are lasting well, probably done 400 miles on one thru some rubbish conditions and it still shifts fine.

+1 on the sigeyi power meter. I have one on each mtb but as others have said not really a useful training tool. I use mine when doing endurance races to keep an eye on IF. They are as accurate as my elite direto turbo and I had an issue with one of mine which was replaced within 3 days and that’s from China!!.

I have a lezyne mega XL. I’ve used it for 100 milers in places I’ve never ridden and find it easy to follow and accurate too. I’ve forgotten to download maps before now and had to follow a line with no overlay and it’s still pretty easy to follow. I also had an original elemnt which was good too but needed battery capacity too. Lezyne lasts ages.

Why did you size up? Extra warmth from the liners?

Yes, I suffer with cold hands, sizing up gives extra wiggle room. I sized up from
Medium to Large. I have smallish hands but must have long thumbs cos all my summer gloves have holes in the end of the thumbs.
Buy some they are good. Over the years I’ve had sealskinz and endura that have both pulled the lining out. Once it happens they never feel right.

Have you thought about a lezyne mega? I’ve got an XL version and it will last easily over 12 hours even when navigating. I like the mapping, it’s not massively detailed but I’ve done 3 routes of over 100 miles that I’d never ridden and plotted on my laptop and I didn’t go wrong at all. That was off road 80% of the routes. I think you can get a colour screen version.

I use ZTTO slr2 11 speed cassettes. 46-11 on shimano freehub. I’m pretty impressed so far. Change well and are lasting ok. Probably 400 miles on one and 250 on another. No problem with pedalling backwards. Like above said more an issue of chain line I think. £56 for a cassette as light as Xtr. What’s not to like. No experience of rear mech or shifter but the dropper lever gets good press.
