Watched it on iplayer today, great prog and I want to go back there, now! Spent couple of weeks doing the tour last year with the family. Stunningly beautiful places and so relaxing. Beware of the squals tho'! We were in a tent! How do you get a job like that? Islands, boat, dog and pigs! Bliss

Re breast feeding, your wife shouldn't have to try too hard, we're made for it, most feeding attempts work but women bow to social pressure. Get lots of breast pads and a pump after several weeks then you can freeze it. It's the best feeling in the world. It's so convenient and has instant settling effect on baby. They usually fall off after a feed fast asleep and that's when you can rest too. I've had 3, last one wouldn't have anything else for 16 months, that was extreme feeding. I am a realist though, anatomy, babies and mulitiple births can make it difficult.
Just go with it, it's fabulous.

Yep, bank the sleep now! Get plenty of tea and coffee in, you'll be having lots of visitors! Enjoy every minute, things'll never be the same again 😀

Avon, Skin-so-Soft is a fab midge repellent. Sold up in Scotland in lots of shops for that purpose, smells disgusting so I reckon essential oils would be much more pleasant.

Rest and Cod Liver Oil added to food. Vet may add analgesia, eg, Meloxicam.

Is photography the day job? Excellent pics again, as I've seen many of yours on STW before.

My husband always fell off with egg-beaters! My, how we laughed. I've always used SPD's and they are ace, just make the adjustments to your shoes so the foot comes out easily. Pedalling is so much easier with them and far more efficient.

We were up there on family hol last May and met loads of people doing it from both directions. It gets windy up there so if that's an issue then have a look at the weather forecast shortly before going across. Also the ferry to Barra from Oban is 5 hours so do you want this, quite rough journey over with or to end with. Regarding climbing there's nothing in it either way although going up to Stornaway is boring. Don't suppose this helps as I wasn't cycle touring (took my road bike to escape) but it's a sensational place esp. the hostel on Bernaray, worth a look even if you don't stay there.

Go on NHS website rather than ringing, may get advice on getting analgesia that may be more effective, I found regular paracetamol, 6hrly useful. Use it like that for 48hrs, move around and if no better on Monday get to see GP stressing you must work.

I fancy being a chimney sweep, yes, really, but it's difficult to get into as the only training is with another sweep as they want to retire. Always seemed like a great job tho'!

No I wouldn't and never did. Another money making middle class angst thread here. I've got 3 kids, all good swimmers and they started lessons at 4yrs, now aged 8, 10 and 12. My 10 yr old daughter is in a top swimming club and loves it, the other 2 kids love swimming and are extremely good but don't want to compete. Ask yourself who are you doing it for? Just take them to the pool yourself or with a baby chum, they'll not notice the difference. Save your money, they cost loads more in the years to come.

I noticed 'footie' lessons advertised locally recently, from aged 6months! I'll leave you to draw your own conclusions!!

I think the local council will have a list of minders who have to be registered or ask your Health Visitor how to find one?

I was sceptical having a problem for 10yrs that the GP couldn't diagnose but went to an Osteopath 2 weeks ago, thought it was mumbo jumbo but gave it a go and I'm amazed what a difference 1 treatment has made! Off for 2nd, of 3, sessions today. She said if there was no improvement then she would write a referral to GP but I think that won't be necessary. I'm a District Nurse so always gone down the medical route btw but now I would say give Osteopathy a try, they've done lots of training, more than Chiropractors I think.

We had a good trip with several families and their kids to near Rockcliffe, Castle Point, near Dalbettie. Lovely site, near beach, good biking but prob not for 2 weeks but then you could decamp and go over to Northumberland, amazing beaches, castles, islands, walking… I could go on. And good biking too!

Great pics everyone! Sadly my dog, Morris the Golden Retriever died today but all your photos remind me of the tremendous fun we had for over 14 years. I realised how ill he was when he turned down a doughnut, he could devour the odd 5 (stolen!) when he saw his chance. Great memories! Brilliant dog!
