Well, I think you guys should go riding instead. I've just got back from a great ride round Malham in the murk and cow sh*t and treated myself to a splendid stove top-made espresso, Illy (fresh can) and a piece of homemade flapjack that I posted the recipe of on the forum. Very smug and I've washed my bike to. What is the max bar pressure should I set my hose to? 😉

I'm a (resting due to childcare) District Nurse. It's a great branch of nursing, caring for people in their own homes you have to think beyond box with care thats individual. I enjoy working in a great team where we all pull together in times of stress and snow! My Husband was a nurse, now branched into Information side of NHS and loves it. Pay adequate, holidays plentiful.

Thats exactly how it operates, forcing water through coffee under pressure into the top pot. It's the quality of coffee too but this (cheap) method's what continentals use. You can make it more authentic by making sucking/spitting sounds if you must.

Mastlies : You're not making it right, it's the best espresso! It's what it's designed for.

Bialetti stove top, no gadgets to go wrong and really easy to clean. Use good coffee eg.Illy and it's cost of around £25 means you can buy more bike bits. It's also portable so take it camping etc….

It's an excellent rate given their qualifications, experience, tools, registration costs, I paid much more. Get recommendations? Check his quals. Dodgy electrics, don't go there.

I feel sure steelfan is a genuine guy in need of good friends to help him through his period of emotional difficulty but, I know I'm being cynical, I hope this is not an ad for the Alpha? The ST reader profile fits Alpha target audience.

    Religion and politics…….

Eck, reading the interest generated in the GWR group, I hardly dare to mention the Skipton Girls group, been going over a year and heading to the Borders next week for a weekend of, erm, biking (and tea drinking). We're going to be discussing a 'proper' name for ourselves so I'm wondering if we could have a few suggesstions…….. I may put this on a new thread.

My husband was taken away by the roof bike racks and got a couple, I'm 5'2in and have a VW Sharan! I ask you! It took 2-3 girls to get a bike up there and we're not fainthearted types but we had to climb onto seats etc… Not a convenient option, so I got a tow bar and a Pendle tow bar mounted and He can't thwart my riding now! 😆 And before anyone asks, yes, I can put the rack on myself!

I always freeze mine, lived to tell tale! Bag it up individually and it's ready to grab and ride. It's also out of sight 😀

    6oz butter
    2tbls syrup
2-30z chopped dates or currents or what you fancy
    Melt above together

    8oz oats
    4oz demerara sugar
    2oz sesame seeds
Mix together then pour onto melted ingredients

Line 9ins square tin, pour in mixture and press down firmly.
Cook at 160-180C for about 25mins
Cool for 10mins, mark into bars then cool completely and cut.

I sometimes add a couple of over ripe bananas, mashed into the mix. It's a soft flapjack and the stuff that always gets me through rides. Bag it up for the freezer!

Like the sound of that fruity nutty one though….

Bunk barn very near N'ton I hope. Getting away from the trails appeals to me too. Cheers 🙂

Tontine Hotel is good and caters for mountain bikers with locked garage, bit posh tho', but central.

Yep it's all natural route and you'll need a map. Did Reeth ride earlier this year, riding in the valley was pure mud. If you can drive for an hour and want guided trails, get yourselves to Gisburn!

They are both good bike destinations but I found CB more remote, warmed up better as the first climb from Reeth is a pig, and the possibilities for route extention more enticing but that's my opinion!

Brilliant area for biking. Done lots round there, steep up's (and some!) and spectacular views, lots of off road and techie long downs. Boggy bits are boogy tho, but it has been dry lately so take a chance. My preference would be Castle Bolton, start and finish, there's an excellent tearoom.

Done about 80,000, diesel, took it off the road last Nov. as experiment to see if we needed 2 cars, we don't so best offer.

I've got a Partner going spare if interested. Can fit more bikes into the Sharan! Live near Skipton and it's 52 plate. Great for bikes, camping and climbing (apparently)

Wow! We (4 girls on Thurs night) had tremendous fun and I can't believe its almost on my doorstep. Plenty of "just nipping out, dear" to be had. We laughed loads down swoopy canyon but wouldn't want to do it after rain. The 'blue' back to the carpark was fun and will be great for kids. Will be revisiting very soon and will do the hump on the boardwalk now my heads round it.
Many thanks to all involved and I look forward to watching incredibly brave types going down that new (as yet unopened)black section. 😀
