Is it a generic 3 month code for Discovery+ or user specific?

I can recommend Wilkinson’s Hi-Fi in Nelson, Lancs.  Fixed my Marantz Amp at a very reasonable cost.

This chap in Bolton-Le-Sands is really good… he fixed a Reynolds carbon rim for me last year.

My guess would be the b-screw setting, or the chain is slightly too long… or maybe both! SRAM 1x seems to behave better with the top jockey wheel nearer the cassette (I think they recommend about 10mm)

If you are out of contract with PlusNet, give them a call. I’d be amazed if they weren’t able to offer you a better deal than the one you are currently on.

    Hi Andy,

I’ve got one. Only had it a couple of weeks but can confirm it is a lot of fun! Currently set up for commuting on the road, with 28mm slicks fitted and sks raceblades. However, a quick swap of tyres back to the G-Ones and it becomes a pretty capable gravel/adventure bike.
Negatives… the standard 40t chain ring is too small… I’ve now ordered a 44t for road duties. A 42t would have been a better standard fit compromise. The rear wheel feels quite heavy, although I suspect a lot of this is down to the bulk of the Apex cassette. They are over half a kilo! Will probably swap that out for a Sunrace 11-40 at some point.
The other notable thing with mine was a change to the bars. I got the small (51cm) and this comes with Ritchey Evo Max bars and tape, rather than the Kinesis flared bars and reflective tape of the larger models. The Ritchey bars are very comfortable and do have a slight flare to them but not as extreme as the Kinesis OEM bars I saw on the larger bike in store.
For the money, it feels like really good value, especially if you are looking for a bike to cover many disciplines. Its working really well as a commuter currently, but I’m looking forward to getting it out on some longer off road adventures over the next few months and will be fitting rack and panniers for a tour of Holland and Belgium with the family over the summer.

Totally agree about the Prime wheel bearings. Great value light weight disc wheels but the bearings don’t last at all in wet, muddy conditions.

Any idea what the bearing spec is? I’m reluctant to buy the ones from CRC as they will just be more of the same junk!

Just renewed ours.  Now with Aviva.  Looked at PedalCover but the cost was way out.  Aviva will cover away from home etc and only needed to know the value of the most expensive bike.  Everything under this is then covered.  Seemed too good to be true, but I called and checked.

SRAM NX cranks are available in 155mm length. Alternatively, give IslaBikes a call.

I took Naproxen for lower back pain for about 6 months prior to a back operation last year. 500mg twice a day with food. Definitely gave me wobbly spells and a slight light-headed feel at times.

I’ve had SKS Raceblades on mine for the last couple of months and they have been fine.. You’ve got to do a bit of jiggling of the front brake cable to get the mount to fit but the bands slip nicely behind the rear gear cable no problem. They have been solid and loads of space with 28mm tyres fitted so no worries about rubbing etc.

Definitely SwissStop. Got my last lot from Merlin for just over £20. Bear in mind they come in packs of 4 (2 pairs) if you just need the inserts so actually not as eyewateringly expensive as you might first think!

SwissStop here too… they come standard on SRAM Force anyway so you are replacing like with like. Merlin had them cheap(er) last time I needed some.

Another Strada DL3 with the extra bike rail here. Bought to replace an old Pendle Wheel-support rack. Can’t believe how much lighter it is and how straightforward the clamping mechanism is. The fact that it slides to allow access to the boot is genius.. No more clambering over the back seats to get at stuff in the boot!! Again, bought from Roofbox who are an excellent company to deal with. Getting the clamping arms in the right place can be a little fiddly at first, but once you’ve had a few trial and error goes it is very quick!

If you are pre-planning the course, then uploading it to the 510 and following the ‘breadcrumb’ trail… then yes, it works really well. It will even give you turn-by-turn style navigation, although it doesn’t always get this quite right (thinks 90deg bends are junctions etc!).

I use mine all the time to both track my routes and follow routes I’ve planned either in Garmin Connect for road riding or Tracklogs for off road and I’ve never felt the need for full blown mapping.

    Cheers,

    Paul

Get some ‘Fakeley’ Jawbone-alikes off ebay.. Less than £20 and with the yellow lenses in they are good for 90% of the time! Quality of them is also fantastic, regardless of price!

Take it into your nearest Apple store, proclaim your stupidity and BEG!! If they take pity on you, they may swap it out for free as a good-will gesture(especially if it is brand new)…. if not, I think it is about £200 ish.

You should be able to get the full replacement cost of your SC Nickel though, rather than a reduced amount.. which you could then buy something else with! You may need to fight your corner a little and say that you want a like-for-like replacement, not a completely different bike! It costs the insurance company much less to give you a replacement bike than it does to give you the cash to buy yourself a replacement.
Not trying to put you off any of the bikes offered by Wheelies, just saying you don’t have to restrict yourself to what is offered.

No they aren’t! They are selling the rear mech, the cassette and a chain for £119… no shifters, front mech, calipers or chainset in that…

Just to back up what other have said here. The 14″ is no way a dead end. My eldest daughter has been riding a 14″ Cnoc since being 3 1/2 and has now (at almost 6) reached the limit of its sizing. She has just been for a test session at Islabikes…. she is now at the bottom of the growth range for the Beinn 20 Small. The Islabike range is designed to allow skipping the ‘next size up’.

I’m also interested in investigating small 29er’s.. I’m just 5’6″ on a good day and am yet to find a small enough one to try out! The Niner EMD9 looks nice and small…. also like the look of the Charge Cooker but they seem expensive for the spec..

If a reliable, fast connection is what you need then Zen is definitely the way to go… As Jambo said, they aren’t cheap, but you do get a fantastic service. Their call centre staff are the most helpful and approachable people you could possibly imagine (in a call centre!).

Didn’t vote for them and never would, but this latest shambles with the ‘fuel crisis’ just highlights their attitude of ‘looking after Number1’ and don’t worry about anyone else… What a bunch of utter ****s!

I wanted to run CAT5 from where the wireless router was (upstairs office, back of house) to the other end of the house (downstairs lounge, front of house) so I could connect a second wireless access point without having to configure a wireless bridge… All the flooring upstairs is large sections of chipboard so lifting it all wasn’t really practical.
I ended up using a Router to cut a 5mm deep and wide slot in the chipboard right across the upper floor and then lifted the flooring in the corner of the room above where I wanted the other router. I then drilled through to downstairs and used trunking down the wall to complete the passage. The CAT5 pressed neatly into the routed slot and the carpet then went back down… not a quick job, and it created quite a lot of mess, but the finished job is almost completely invisible!

Either for me…. I prefer to ride then have breakfast when I get to work, but this isn’t always practical as I need to help get the kids off to school on time!
