I was thinking of buying a euro 6 van. But with euro 7 possibly coming out, is there any point? I have considered an EV, but we don’t have off road parking and the public chargers are few and far between in Suffolk.

Great, thanks. I just wanted to be sure.

We were originally looking for a VW Caddy Maxi Life, but my other half wants to go camping again and wants something bigger. Still weighing up euro 6 v an older van. We like the Transporter, but the better fuel economy, lower purchase price and lower VED tax rate of the Peugeot Traveller / Citroen Spacetourer / Toyota Proace Verso seemed like an interesting option. The Transporter gives you stronger residuals and better build quality though.

The 2.0d is that a newer euro 6 version of the old 2.0 HDI engine?

I’ve been following this thread with interest. Looking to get some kind of van based MPV thing. I work from home so I won’t need it as a daily driver. I’ve been looking at the Toyota Proace Verso. I’m assuming the 2.0d and 1.6d are PSA engines? Any ideas what they are like for longevity? Fuel efficiency seem good on both.

Thanks ambientcoast. Does the front passenger seat fold flat?

Have been looking at these. What’s the best engine to go for? Are they all the same for all three?

Thanks martin_t for the extra info. Will look into getting the Cavity wall insulation done at some point. Cheers

    Thanks martin_t

Loft insulation is the first thing we are getting done as it hasn’t got much at the moment. Luckily it’s already got recent Double Glazing.

I understand what Cavity wall insulation is, but is there a chance that filling in the cavity with insulation that damp comes through because the wall ties can’t do their job?

    Watching with interest.

In the process of buying a 1930’s Semi with no central heating apart from two gas fireplaces in the living room and dinning room and an electric bathroom heater.

I have no idea what to do. Going on price it seems installing a Combi and radiators is the cheapest at the moment.

I have the 14″ MacBook Pro 16gb / 500 base model. Was loving it until last weekend when it had a hardware failure and wouldn’t start up. Just got a brand new replacement, so will see how it goes.

Any one got the previous generation Citroen Dispatch? Looking at a 2015 combi version with the 2L HDI 125bhp engine. I’m assuming the engine is the same one used in the passenger cars, are they reliable? Are they galvanised?

mjsmke I’m definitely weighing up Petrol V Diesel at the moment. Love the Berlingo as well. Noticed it’s available in two petrol engines, 1.2 and 1.6. It’s looking like the 1.2 is the better engine? I’ve also notice the Ford Tourneo Connect is available in a 1.0 Ecoboost engine as well.

My other half likes the size of the caddy maxi life. So I was thinking the Grand Tourneo Connect would be a good alternative. It’s seems it’s only available in a 1.6 petrol auto.

No I mean the 1.6 tdci.

Is the 1.6 a wet cambelt belt as well? How massive is the bill to change one just out of curiosity?

@letmetalktomark Thats the route I’m thinking of going. Just get the frame and source a 150 spaced front forks.

Never had a Singular before, I fancy having a single speed fat bike with the option to try 29 plus at some point.

    Thanks @letmetalktomark I’ve seen them here:- https://www.wheelsports.de/fahrradteile/rahmen-rahmensaetze/singular-puffin-rahmen.html

Is it worth getting the fork? Or shall I just source a carbon one?

I have seen a frame in Germany that I’m thinking of ordering. Does that mean because it has had VAT charged in Germany that I won’t have to pay any VAT and Duty when it arrives in the UK?

Sciencerofficer No idea what brand the rear hub is, came with the original bike (Genesis Caribou green one). Yep, freehub body was loose. Tightened and reinstalled everything.

Will see how long it lasts. Really need to replace the wheel with better hub and rim. Probably a Hope Fatsno and a DT Swiss rim.

Winston Freehub body is loose, unfortunately I can only tighten it through the none drive side.

Took a hammer and a piece dowel to it and it’s now out. Bearings seem fine. Will probably put some new ones in as it’s out now.

johnnymarone Great idea, will try that. I was going to keep it, but I’ll probably replace it after I get it out.

Thanks everyone for your response. Looks like the best thing is to get the hammer out.

I have a Genesis Caribou (Green one). Completely stock, weights 17.5kgs XL size. Absolutely love riding it. Rides really well, great fun. Downsides:- wish it was a bit lighter (will have to look at upgrading the wheels and go tubeless) Rear is only 170mm QR and has come loose from time to time.

I’m assuming that all the bodies are galvanised with these newer models?

So does that mean that minibus’s or crew vans with a M1 classification are car speed limits or does it have to be classified as an MPV?

Have a similar want to the OP. What’s the interior space like of the galaxy compared to a vw caddy maxi life? Looking to put two bikes inside and carry two passengers on the second row of seats. Which is going to be easier? I hadn’t really thought of the galaxy before.

Not mine, but a super cheap On One Fatty Trail has just been posted on the fat bike Facebook page-£175 collection from Kendal.

So out of all the engines is the 1.9 still the one to go for? Or is the newer 2.0 just as good reliablity wise?
