Buy the DX and save yourself £150.

(IGMC, but might as well get it out of the way!)

I've ordered the DX too. Just updated the status to packaging

I'll use it for commuting and save the airbike for nightrides

Is the airbike anything more than the DX at twice the price? p7, 900 lumen, lo/med/hi/flash. What's the difference? (I'm not saying it is the same, just that I can't see any difference)

I want a light that can be toggled between lo/hi without going through flash/off cycle first (most of my riding is on the road, single lane unlit country roads). Something along the lines of the he exposure strada, but £220 seems a lot for 480 lumen light.

I'll probably keep up with the indecision untill next april by which time i won't need a new light.

Though a smudge battery with a lumi lamp might do the job (no dip mode though).

Can you adjust the front mech over the middle ring with the hi/lo screws?

Well I'm still dithering like a fanny.

I used to use a timex ironman, but they changed the strap to a moulded one piece non replaceable affair (inbuilt redundancy?). Same thing with my Garmin HRM watch (forerunner 50). Can't decide between something decent, or something that will do.

dither dither dither….. the wife chooses shoes quicker than this.

    Edit:

I see the Ironman with a replaceable strap is available (again?) in tesco. Almost wish I hadn't been looking at the nice watches now.

Have you got one yet ? or is it on the way?

(don't know about an extension cable though)

Re Fenix, the L2D and LD20 both run off AA batteries. The LD20 is a bit narrower and has a longer throw. I use mine when out with the dogs – on full it's probably too bright for just walking along, but handy in wide open spaces.

If you buy from the Photon Shop ask him for a lockblock as well;-) (spare/additional bike light)

If you want something more powerfull for the bike, maybe the TK11 (or DX torch).

I re-waxed mine just the other day. Border jacket, 1988/89. It's getting a bit worn in places now, hoping for a new one from santa.

    Simon,

The figs were off the top of my head, 40% protein may well be too high. But I think the principle is sound. A given percentage of the calories from each of protein/carbs/fat.

I bought a sports nutrition book some time back. The gist of it was that carbs & protein contain about 4 calories per gram, fat 10, alcohol 8. Daily calorific intake was made up of say 40% calories from protein, 40% from carbs, 20% from fat.

It took a bit of effort, and I followed it quite strictly for about 2 months (wow !). Felt better for it, didn't feel bloated if I didn't exercise for a few days, and my weight came down steadily.

Trouble is I like beer & wine. I like food. I like wine & food after a good ride/walk. My wife buys cakes that I like. I know what needs to be done if I want to look sporty, the fact that I don't is down to my own lack of self discipline.

The figs I quoted are rough and from memory, but I don't think they're too far off.

Riding through the beautiful village of Ballingry, one of the local yoofs shouted out I'm your biggest fan[/i] – what can you say to that?

I haven't actually seen the Ribble, but some close up picks that look good (bloody good !).

An lbs had both the Orbea (Onix 08 model) and the Planet X in stock. I loved the look of the Orbea, but the Ultegra SL Orbea was a fair bit more than the Planet x. I actually ordered a Planet X, then realised a small only takes one water bottle (med with an 80mm stem looks stupid on a road bike !), so changed to the Orbea.

Value for money I reckon the Planet X wins (which was why I ordered one), but think the Orbea looks nicer (don't have a lab to compare analyticaly !).

BUT….. If I was a bit taller and fitted the med Planet X, I'd have bought that.

Bet that doesn't help at all – you're welcome to try the Orbea if you're up my way (Perthshire).

    a Ribble sportive

I saw the Planet x in the flesh so to speak and it was much nicer than any pics. The Ribble Sportive looks fantastic. I've got an Orbea Onix. The Ribble and Orbea are more sportif biased, the Planet x is said to be a more aggressive racing frame. I don't think you'll be disappointed with any of them.

    xc mtb helmet.

Road helmet because with a 58 head and a bulbous mtb lid my head looked even bigger/ more ridiculous.

BMX that I bought especially for Laggan as I kept cracking my mtb lids.

Maybe I'm getting my terminology wrong, also I'm in Scotland so things may be a bit different.

Decree is (I think) what my claim against the defender was. What I've got is an extract for payment – in language that I use – the piece of paper that says he owes me £3065.

As he's decided not to simply hand over this amount, I now have to employ a sheriff officer to try and recover payment (which costs another £79 incl VAT !). The sheriff officer then goes round and asks him for payment and writes a report on the defender – all manner of things can go against me in this case – if it's not his house, if there's two guys at the same address under with the same name…

It's the sheriff officer who can "freeze" the account – that will cost me another £50 or so.

I'd willingly sell this debt for a couple of hundred if I could find someone to take it on ! Central Scotland if anyone knows anyone!

I've just been granted a decree by the SSC for £3065.

Getting it is another matter, the house is not in the other blokes name, neither it seems are his vehicles. I can have his bank account frozen – but if there's not enough money in it then thats too bad on me, also they court officers must leave him approx £370 in credit.

    Not looking good is it?

I'm poining out that even if you do raise a summons against him (which will have to be done in the court closest to where he lives), and you win, you still may not get your money.

If anyone knows of any "heavies" who want to buy my decree, please get in touch – I'm not expecting much for it.

Someone on classifieds is selling a 2 year old Lowden 023 for £1500

You can get them brand new under warranty for just over £2300:

Aye they are very nice and shiny, and I have a set for sale (with bb & chain) but with a 32T chainring. They look like this:

I'd imagine a Royce bb would be less trouble than the XTR. I'd go for the Royce.

It was on The Big Question. Unbelievable. The priest claimed the victims weren’t children but teenage boys. Hence it wasn’t child abuse, but homosexual acts.

Another vote for descent that TJ describes.

I went up through Cardonna, then from Glenhouse picked up the SUW to Blackhouse. There used to be someone on here who had a page with a more detailed descripion (EuanR I think it was).

Ahaaaaa! Jose is the bloke I was asking about over the weekend. The Inbred against the post is what I remember.

Jose are you running a disc on the rear? I can’t decide whether it’s a small disc I’m looking at or a smaller disc. Also, do you have any problems with heel clearance against the pannier?

I’m wishing I’d kept that Inbred I used to have now. Might have to loose a bike to make room.

One of his trip reports had pics of trip inbetween Braemar and Blair Atholl. Lots of good views, big snow patches, the pics obviously caught my imagination.
