As said, you wont be much quicker but the bike will feel very different if its light enough. You might enjoy how it rides or not. I’m on the heavy side but much prefer how a light bike feels.

Most tyre sidewalls will be a bit porous. The sloshing with the tyre milk is a must.

I almost always re-use spokes. Pro wheel builders don’t normaly because of the time it takes to strip down and salvage the old spokes.

As above there’s not much you can’t ride on a cyclox bike. But unless its your only bike why would you want to ?? Apart from smooth fast trails a mtb is much the better bike for the job. My cyclox bike gets used for racing cyclox not much else.

I don’t ask for discount if it’s only a tube or something. But bigger items always. I don’t say give me 10% of or something, but ” whats the best price you can do this for ” It’s up to the retailer them, but I’m certainly not offended if they can’t or wont budge on price. But if they don’t there’s always the chance I might go elswhere.

For me it needs to be more than riding offroad on a mountainbike however – rides like the one I did today are IMO not real mountainbiking. could be done easily on a roadbike

If your trying to define what type off terrain defines a mtb ride, I can’t see how there can be a definative definition. There’s probably as many answers as riders.

I don’t know why all the angst about defining mountain biking ? If your riding off road on a mountain bike, well your mountain biking. what else would you call it !!!!

The longesr I used mine for was about 4 months. It had an effect in so much I had to keep uping the resistance. I’m not so sure it improved my asthma or performance though ( certainly didn’t hurt though ). It was so boring though I lost the will to keep it up in the end. The only time I use it now is just before a race, to get my lungs working before the start.

My p7 set up as a s/s weighs more than my geared full sus !!!!! I’m frightened to weigh it but it must be 28lb+. Its keeping me fit though.

About 550-75 for me but after a hard turbo training session it can go up to nearly 700.

I was going to get the proper tool for removing mine, but they were out of stock at the time so as stated above just knocked it out with a drift. My home made h/set press fitted it no probs.
    I fitted one of these

On paper I can’t see how you could beat it for the price. I’ve not ridden one But I’m sure it will feel great after riding a 10yr old bike. ( not that there was anything wrong with the G-Zero in its day )

£150 a week on food for a family of four!!!! obviously you can but you don’t need to spend a anything like that. I do most of the family cooking and most things are made from scratch. Just food is about £60-70 per week.

don’t know about the maximum width but 2.35 would be fine. Their a lightweight rim mind so don’t waste them by fitting monster tyres.

It depends if you have a zig unit or similar fitted. My camper van has to be running to charge the leisure battery. On most zig units there’s a switch with something like driving and parked on it.

Unless your going to do the odd cross race I’d go for a road bike. Apart from racing, my cross bike only gets used a couple of times a year when I’m realy bored. Mtb are so much better on proper off road stuff.

I can’t understand you guys jumping on the OP. His point is clear. The seller is trading and has posted a few minutes ago, but won’t answer emails !!!! thats the problem at this point, not the goods no show.

If your going to race, as said don’t go with a triple hardly anyone does. I’m old and fat so use a 48/34 compact with a 13/28 cassette (campag) If thats not low enough you’ll be quicker getting of and running. Even for general riding about it’ll get you up most stuff.

As far as I know thwere isn’t a central registry of stolen bikes, but the plae to check would be your local police station.
But the seller probably doesn’t know that so ask for the frame number. Tell him you want to do a search on the bike. See how cooperative he is.

To run my car, a Ford Mondeo bought s/h for £7800, it costs mr 27p a mile including the cost of replacing it. Thats everything apart from council charges or anything that is purly related to it being a taxi.

All this remidns me of a “true” story from my motocross days. A bloke buys a new maico in about 1977 and changes it every year. Because its red his wife thinks its the same bike. In 1981 Maico change to Blue so the chap buys a Honda. Another ten years go by and the wife is so impressed he’s had the same bike for so long she buys him a new one.
I’ve been trying to replicate this for years, but everytime my nephew comes over I’m grassed out !!

Mole +1 I fitted a new syphon to my toilet a couple of days ago. If the washer is making a good seal the permanent leak should go away. Make sure the big nut thing that holds the syphon in place is done up tight enough ( not to tight though ). Greasing up the donut will help seal it.

I wouldn’t, don’t listen to all the MTFU merchants. Its all the hopless no idea how to drive in snow and ice drivers you have to think about. I was working today, and you wouldn’t believe the things I saw on he roads in Cardiff.
I always rember this when the roads are icy.
