As I said good luck to them, and I hope they get paid. But at the end of the day watching women pro cycling is like watching me ride ( middle aged taxi driver ) apart from the very top, I’m a few months of proper full time training away from holding my own in a female pro peleton ( as are hundreds if not thousands of other blokes ). It’s up to women to get behind womens pro cycling and spend their money , if they don’t why should I ?

He certainly doesn’t come across as someone motivated primarily by greed! As this gesture has demonstrated.

I agree I think his primary motivation is playing and a love of football. If he lost it all money, cars, houses and most of his talent, i still reckon he’d be out there on a wet sunday morning playing for his local pub team.

cerainly don’t ride fast enough to benefit much from the aero advantage, but every little helps. More a case of treating myself realy. I like nice kit even if there’s no real benefit.
I know what you mean about spoke wind up, I’ve got a tool to hold flat spokes when tighening them.

    p.s 32 spokes per wheel so about £120/30 for c-xrays “ouch !!”

Is the cassete moving on the splines ( it shouldn’t realy ) or is the whole freehub body moving ? If so the bearings in it might be a bit worn.

The 2012 at a quick look seems to have a slightly higher spec, and is cheaper so it seems a no brainer. But I bought my x-control mail order, and when the swinging arm snapped it was more hassle sorting it out long distance. the swinging arm has been upgraded on both those models now, but is it worth an extra £220 for local service ? only you can decide that.

If your not bothered about heart rate and cadence you can get the 200 on Amazon for £88.

I’m 52 and my heary rate wont go much over 170 so yours is pretty high. But the 220 minus your age is only a guide, lots of varience. Might be temptef to talk to a doctor though, if only for reassurance.

About 3mins. Had that odd sitting on a sofa feeling, then I rode over a rocky bumpy bit of ground and a smile came on my face.

Amazing how quickly the abuse starts ! The op’s rant is a bit over the top, and I’ve had good service from
UKBS as well. But the op’s basic point is valid. I needed a part for my mx bike so I could race sunday, paid a load of money for ” guaranteed ” saturday delivery. No part came I couldn’t race. Don’t guarantee if you can’t deliver.

If its only going to be the 11 mile commute I’d probably buy something new and deff get mudguards. The better £500/600 second hand bike would come into its own, if you caught the roadi bug and rode it more than just the commute.

I’m not interested in coaching, not because I’m super skilled or the fastest. But I’m happy were I am riding wise. I could be fitter but I know what I need to improve that ( time on the bike )
Not interested in jumps or riding anything more extreme, so whats the point. I suppose the fact the op is asking the question means he’s not happy, so perhaps he should go for it.

Way to much emotion ! Talk of shooting etc, some people need to think before they type.
The doping was just that, a dirty rider in what was at the time a dirty sport.
All that sets him apart was the rabid assaults on anyone who raised questions about him. If Emma O’rielly can forgive him, thats a good thing. Forgivness allows a person to move on and rebuild thier lives. If Amstrong can make proper restitution for his behaviour perhaps a bit more forgivness can help cycling move on to a cleaner future.

His lies are a bit of a non issue to me. You take drugs to cheat your obviously going to lie about it. You take drugs you lie, end off.

Not riding at all for sure. Went out today in the snow, didn’t achieve much ! but felt much better about myself than if I’d sat in and did nothing.

Total fail from Halfords for me. Two stores in Cardiff show stock so I reserve one from each to make sure. Store 1 leaves me a message this morning saying they don’t have one, but a couple of hours later send me a text saying one’s waiting for collection. I pop in as I’m passing but no Guard ! Shop 2 don’t send a sorry message but didn’t have the one I reserved either. Total waste of my time 0/10 Halfords.

sub 40 for a 10k is the start of running properly. So you should be aiming for under 20mins if you’r at all serious about your running. 17.30 for me a long, long time ago.

Looking forward to seeing it myself. It might only be “his” version of the truth. But as we’ve heard everyone elses versions, including the STW one we might as well hear his.

seems more like something that allows cars to use cycle lanes to me.

If the pedals turn a fair bit before you get any “bite” it sounds more like a freehub problem. You might need to have your rear wheel looked at.

One point. Never ever stand in front of a car to prevent the driver moving off !!! you could have ended up dead in front of your kids. Just step aside, loads of time to get the reg as he drives away.

IMO if your truely average fitness then race sport,

Made me think what average realy is. Average for regular racers would be a solid sport rider for sure. But the same rider doing a large mtb marathon, with a proper spread of people who ride but don’t race would be well into the top 20% of finishers. won’t get into elite riders who think thier “average” 8O

I just put it down to me not being fast enough or strong enough to put the force through the cranks.

You still managed to lap me though Dan ! moments later my mech jammed snapping the hanger and dumping everything into the rear wheel. Running the last lap and a half just about killed me. I don’t think speed or strength come into it much. I put it down to the muddy wash you threw over me as you came past.

Ride what you like and maybe f/r might suit you amd your circumstances. But you will be a bit slower than with a properly working suspension fork. That might not matter to you, but I’m slow enough already and don’t want to go any slower, even a few seconds a lap. It is a race after all.

Never used one untill I fitted a Campag ultra torque chain set. Did the bolt up that holds the two halfs together to my normal ” nice and tight ” . It creaked like hell. Torqued it up to the recommended torque, ( way tighter than I thought would be enough ) Job sorted.

Then how are JURY’s being put together and being allowed to pass non guilty verdicts with supporting evidence to the contrary?

What do you suggest ? juries are handpicked to arrive at a predetermined verdict. what kind of justice system would that be.

no real problem there, I’d just ride them. Unless I’d paid big money and they’d been described as like new.

I don’t see any real value under £50. It would cost a bit to sort and you’d just have an old bike.

Looks quick enough to me. There’s a few fast people out there, but I doubt youd get to many people shouting to get past at he op’s speed.

    “under control please?”

However right you might be, saying this to just about any dog owner is going to come accross as being a bit pompous. you should try riding down the Taff trail in Cardiff, you’d be in a slanging match every 100yds. Most dog owners will never accept that a dog just wandering about a bit isn’t under control.
