I’ve used the Halfords stuff. Very sticky, goes on and stays on, flexible enough for slightly curved surfaces ( rear mudguard ) so it gets my vote.

Take the Canyon size calculator with a pinch of salt. I’m a gangly 6ft and it recomends a medium road bike. I’ve got a large Aeroad and its spot on, medium would be ridiculous.

Agree probably the drivers fault, but whats with people leaving their bikes lying around trail centre car parks ???
I was at Cwmcarn and had to reverse tightly out of my spot to get out. Like the op someone had left their bike lying on the ground behind their car. He seemed to think it was a massive bother to move it so I could go home.

Whatever you get, if you’re going to ride it through the winter get dome mudguards fitted. Best investment ever.

Agree, I’d move the levers down a bit, but its one of those personal things. Deff. loose the peak though. Don’t give up on it, road bikes are quicker, but more importantly when you get used to it, loads more fun on the road than a mtb.

I’d say you are legally bound Luke but it’s not worth their hassle to chase you to enforce it – although they could just refuse to return the V5.

I’d say this is true. Verbal agreements can be enforced. But more importantly you shook on it, that’s a done deal in my book I wouldn’t break it for £2-3,000 let alone a couple of hundred.

Good chance it’ll be B. Used to see it all the time in schoolboy MX. Amazing 10-13 yr olds who never seemed to improve as they got older.

There’s plenty of Strava cat 2 climbs local to me in S.Wales. The Blorenge ( tumble ) is one of the toughest, over three miles with plenty of 10%+ parts. With tired legs its a challenge just to get up without stopping.

Only use my cross bike for racing so canti’s for me. If I wanted a do it all bike with a bit of racing thrown in it would definitely be discs.

Whatever works for you. But do you feel your lacking Control, are you uncomfortable ? Shorter stem wider bars might make the bike feel twitchy and even less controllable.

Daughter had it at 13. all her school had it you would have seemed the local lunatic to make a fuss about it.
Regarding the boys, as with all vaccinations there is a tiny risk attached, and they wouldn’t directly benefit from having the jab. Makes sense if your looking to eradicate the virus though.

The basic speck is just that “basic” all tried and tested stuff but will be a bit heavy maybe and not so nicely finished. Nothing that you’ll “have” to upgrade. Use the bike builder, decide a budget and pick stuff accordingly. Think wheels and groupset as places to spend your money.

150mm stem and a rise !! sounds pretty small to me. you’ll have to try it if it feels ok its not a problem.

Thinking about it you could fit an inline cable adjuster, set it so you could slacken the brakes of to get the wheel out as needed.

Thats just the way they are, you’ll have to get used to the deflating the tyre thing 🙁 I use campag levers, they have a button to slacken of the brakes.

It wasn’t awfull and the best man on the day won, but the weather and length made it very difficult on that course. 7hr 25 probably to long it would always be a war of attrition with nothing kicking of untill the final lap.

It might well be a sealed unit type thing like shimano ones. Not realy servicable, take of put new one on if you can get one.

£10 here in Wales, most races its on the day entry only. Have to admit if it was £18 I probably wouldn’t ride. Can’t see how the extra £6 is justified, but its their ball I suppose, they must be really trying to get people to enter online. 🙁

Sounds like a lot of the parts on the CAAD8 are pretty shot. Probably more cost effective to get a complete bike.
Check out Canyon for the most bike for your money. I’ve had ti road frames but after riding a good carbon bike I wont be going back to it.

£170 isn’t to bad, just pay and move on. By the time you’d payed them for the diagnosis, messed around getting parts, hasseld your mate onto the job bought him beers, you’d wished you’d payed the £170.

The thing is, not a single one of the STW doping cynics has a clue whether Horner doped or not, you won’t until he fails a test or there is overwhelming evidence against him ( he hasn’t and there isn’t). But you go on and on about how he must have because blah, blah, blah. The same thing over and over again. Give the man credit and if in the future its shown that he was using PED’s criticise then. for the moment enjoy pro cycling for what it is or walk away.

Recently got a rim for a 2010 ksyrium sl. Was told you can’t get them for wheels much older than that. You’ll need to go to a lbs that does Mavic stuff and ask if they can order some.

Western league at Gloucester for me. Just a warm up for the Welsh league wich starts next week. Good course realy enjoyed it ! Just a question though, where were are all the slightly portly older blokes ? Killed me keeping up ( and failing ) with all those skinny young guys. 😀

No you must have been just behind me, it was the guy with the buckled wheel I talked to. Said we’d better wait for the taxi to pass, because if it were me I’d probably knock us over. 😉
