    Have to agree with Wobbliscott.

For a bit of perspective, I think cyclists focus on the negative encounters with motorists. It clouds our view the same as it does for motorists. Out for a ride yesterday, nothing but curtsey from everyone I met. One steep climb Iin a narrow lane had a couple of cars waiting in passing places for me to crawl past. They all gave positive response’s to my wave of acknowledgement. Even had a woman pull alongside side me and give me a thumbs up after she witnessed my feeble attempt at a power climb KOM 🙁

You’ll need them then. Yes modern bikes will have some sort of cable stop on the down tube.

You’ll need them if you’re replacing down tube shifters. If your not, you don’t and probably never will. I’ve got about 4 pairs in my toolbox. Should throw all but one set out but my hoarding problem wont let me 🙁

Always had bike’s and messed around of road. Early 70’s built one up with cycle speedway tyres for riding in the local woods. First proper mtb was in the mid 80’s. Still riding mx then so it was just fo a bit of training an going to the shops. Deff. became a mtb’r in 1997 when I tore my cruxiate ligament and had to give up mx.

Rightly or wrongly the op gave something of a verbal guarantee. To go back on that would be breaking his word. Plenty of straw men on here don’t seem to think that matters, but it sounds like it does to the op.
Get the car checked out, and if the repairs needed are legitimate stick to your 50% offer.

I’m with you op. No problem with people not taking my advise. Just don’t keep on moaning to me if you don’t,
Are you listening Mrs Taxi !!!!

In general there’s no legal requirement to erect or maitain a boundry fence. Probably much better to put one up yourself.

Done. Don’t know what problem some of you had with the questions. Have you ever had a problem inflating tubless tyres ? If yes how much would you be prepared to pay for a tool to make it easier ? Its not rocket science.

Sat in a Cardiff pub with a very vocal pro French contingent, quel surprise 😆 But a great game bit nervous for Wales against both France and England.

I don’t agree with you can’t tell the difference between a £500 roadbike and a £1000 one. Some good budget choices mentioned but a carbon £1000 bike can be much nicer. I’d be looking at a Ribble 365 as a do it all bike in that price range.

As said you don’t have to wait to be hit before you defend youself. But in 40yrs of cycling I can count he number of properly hard ( fighting ) cyclists I’ve met on one hand. The two just don’t seem to go together. Of course Stw members buck this trend Lol. I’m 53 and not had a fight since school, don’t confront, don’t provoke 99.9% of situations can be sorted with a calm attitude and a few well chosen words.

Crankboy. Didn’t wiggles just say that that his experience’s are the exact opposite from what your describing.
In this country at least, thats for the most part how it is. Wringing your hands on STW is going to make F all difference to whats going on in Nigeria, and other places. In my day to day life I see more intolerance and bigotry from this new breed of atheists than I’ve ever experienced from those with a sincere religious belief.

I’d just let it develop naturally. Groups will form, change and develope as the day goes on. Just make sure there’s a strong rider on at the back to act as sweeper. Sounds like a job for you OP.

As said varies from person to person. Had mine on Wednesday, no pain bruising or swelling. Rode a mx race on the Sunday, felt ok. Not saying it was the right thing to
    do but what the heck.

Put an ad up in the wanted section here. I did ended up with a cracking Scott scale frame for £250. Finished up with a sub 21lb budget racer. 😀 😀

Firstly, in that situation with a clear road ahead, I wouldn’t have gone into the ASL at all, I’d just have waited in the queue of other riders. It’s obvious that the car can make a clear unimpeded run away from the lights so why bother overtaking it, it’s only going to come straight back past you.

^^^ This, When your just going to hold up cars with a clear run in front of them. Gave up doing it a long time ago.

    Defo makes you fitter.

True up to a point, but after a while not being able to push on the downs and flats hurts overall fitness. I’ve dabbled a few times but always gave it up because of this. Still fun though and would deff like a super light fully rigid s/s when I can free up some space in my shed.

Flog your frame and get a 56″ with a 100-120mm stem, and you’ll be much happier.

I’m the same height as the op and ride a large/58 and always change the stem to a 120mm one. We’re all different even if our height is the same. If the op is happy and comfy that’s all that matters.
    p.s
No way could I ride a 80mm stem, my knees would hit the bars all the time, must have very different leg bone lengths to the op.

Tough on your own in the wind. But unless the lap was hilly 29.9km is a bit short on overall pace even isolated. Definitely leave out the pre race training session next time 😯

Only a small Defy left at Rutland. Can’t argue the Defy is a good bike, but how do you know the frame is nicer than the Canyon or Focus ?

    taxi25

I wouldn’t bet on the Focus frame being better. The Canyon uses the same mould as the slx which is superb !!
If it wasn’t for the wait it would be a no brainer.

Bought the 8.0 model but put my own record groupset on it. Its a great bike, just waiting for some dry weather to get out on it properly, all this wet riding doesn’t do it justice.
Size wise I’m 6ft with a 33″ inside leg. Got the large which is spot on, changed the stem to a120mm, the std one is 110mm but to short for me. The Canyon size guide suggested a medium, I could have ridden it but would have needed a longer stem again and the seat would have been a bit high.
If your in S.Wales your welcome to try it for size.

If anyone wants a new, fitted but unused 11spd ultegra groupset looking for £450 + postage.

Depends, do you want to keep your Cube or do you want a new bike ? There’s no right or wrong, do whatever will make you the happiest 😀

I really enjoy it. Normally do 3 laps of the xc trail when I go. About an hour a loop is a reasonable time. Top boys blast it in 45….

To put this in perspective, 45mins is for the likes of Nick Craig ect, under an hour puts you in the top 140 out of 1745 on Strava. About a hour and a half is more normal for someone fitish and just out for a ride.

I’ve driven over a million miles, never got out of my car once to confront anyone. Still don’t understand why the op did, unless he fancied a fight as well. 😀

If you used a quill type extender how would you get the correct adjustment for headset ?

    taxi25
    Free Member

If I manage to find them cheaply available from a bearing supplier I will report back. Although I know that Acros make the headset exclusively for Canyon it would seem strange if the cartridge bearings weren’t available somewhere online.

    Good luck with that.
The one on ebay is what you need.

I needed the same bearings for my cf ultimate. Ordering a full h/set from Canyon was the only way. Seems the bearings are specifically made for canyon.

Unless you’re going to load it up and go touring a 30lb+ bike is going to make for a dull commute 🙁
Sonething like the Ribble audax would be a lort more versatile and fun for £600.
    Half that on ebay.

Got to love internet forums, some one has to pay excess baggage on well excess baggage. Then offensively insults someone for pointing out they should have read the TAC. Sad and pathetic maybe, but whom ? 😀
