They’re pretty close. But if you want lower look at a 50/34 chainset with a 11/28 cassette. That’s as close as you’ll get to one size fits all gearing.

You were lucky getting the tiagra cassette to work with the campag stuff. What wheels do you have ? Check you can get a 11spd freehub, also the wheel might need a slight re dish.

Not realy the op’s fault but people often skim over things. After seeing a picture of a frame and shock thats what sticks in their mind, the rest becomes blah, blah, blah. A picture of the actual frame and a description saying
FRAME ONLY NO SHOCK leaves no room for doubt.

I don’t think its 100% clear. If you dont read it carefully, It could be read, as picture but with a different shock a 210×57. If I’m selling I never use stock photos, what you see is what you get.

Just to put a spanner in the works. We usually eat in the Hart and drink in the Star. The Star gets rammed on Saturdays and we can rarely get a table 🙁 If you can the menu im the Star is more limited but slightly better than the Hart. I’ll be up there Saturday as well, some good beer Saturday then a quick loop of the Gap Sunday, my idea of heaven 😀

Agree with the poster above, for me anyway the fun in a road bike ( racer ) is in speed. Lightweight nimble handling every time 😀

Recommend this place, there’s some great pubs in Talybont, easy access to the Beacons or Afan for that matter.

Sound really nice 😀 Can’t help with a price though. Ask what you’d “like” to get. If it doesn’t sell bring the price down until it does.

1:10 / 1:11 isnt for me I like my granny gears to much and my big gears. If it works for you great, but judging by the number of people I see pushing up trail centre climbs ( new cwmcarn trail comes to mind ) I reckon some people are buying into it because of fashion rather than something that works better.

Tend to agree with dragon, find a 50/34 ultegra chainset. Not as nice as Dura ace but fine for maybe one off trip.

    More people round our way seem to be developing a taste for practical, well thought out road irons;
Guards, saddlebags, higher bars, triples, comfy tyres, decent lights, wider gearing.
    Audax type bikes, basically.

sounds rather dull to me, maybe when I’m 60, or maybe not.

Put it on as far as you can, place the wheel on the floor between you legs and run your hand all around the tyre
Squeezing and stretching the bead into the rim well. Use your thumbs and palms to leaver the tyre on to the rim. Honestly in 40yrs of fitting tyres I’ve never failed yet.

I rarely go in there, I was looking to buy a bike. They had one in stock, call it £2000. There was interest free credit labels all over it, I said can you do a bit of discount for cash ? Bearing in mind they won’t get the full amount from the finance company if I sighn up for 0%. No was all they said !
Last time I went in it was for some brake blocks, got all shirty because I wouldn’t give them my name and address, email address ect.

Canyon every time. You wont regret it Jacob, the planet x is good value but I’d be suprised if it rode any better.
Seem to remember Philippe Gilbert rode more or less that frame from time to time.

Whats your wife’s take on this ? Would she be 100% supportive of a no decision.

He’s already got the Boardman. The Canyon us a big step up IMHO. like anything its your money, spend it as you will 😀

I’m pretty sure the abduction of any body’s 3 yr old daughter would spark a massive police response.
The main reason it’s still in the public eye is as mentioned above the McCanns tireless campaigning to keep it there.

If your using the middle and granny rings, I’m pretty sure the cage on a double mech wont be long enough.

Why do you guys think its a problem for a bike shop to order parts and do a custom build ?? I worked in a bike shop once, and we’d order parts all day long. Twenty parts for one person is less hassle than for twenty different people. The parts come in and you assemble them, thats what you do. As said 4hrs £200 is ok £980 is to much.

Whats your inside leg measurement ? I bet when you get some pedals fitted the saddle will have to go up a bit. If it’s going to be track only try a longer stem as well, worth sacrificing some comfort for a more aero position.

I always try to make room for someone descending. It’s always appreciated when people do for me so I try to do the same.
Not sure if I wasn’t wearing a helmet I’d think people should make more of an effort. Wouldn’t even enter my head !!

Second the banana thing. But not just during rides. Have a couple every day as a regular thing. If I lay of the bananas its not long before the cramps back 🙁

Should work ok. I’d certainly give it a try before buying a new mech.

It’s a good bike, if you like it get it. The problem is at that price point the choice is huge 😯
Everyone and their dog will have an opinion. As its your first road bike I’m not sure test riding will tell you much. Probably any road bike will feel strange after a mtb. Just get more or less the right size and get out riding 😀

    Fuel pump?

If its got a chain as well, the chain drives the pump and a belt drives the cam. The water pump is driven by an auxillary belt.

don’t forget with a 6.30am flight the gate will close at about 6am. It took me over an hour to get through security at Bristol airport once !!

Prague is/was picturesque, but may have been taken over by stag/hen dos and Marks and Spencers by now (we went about 10 years ago).

Been to Prague seven or eight times with Mrs Taxi, not got caught up in any stag or hens yet. They go there of course, just to different places that a couple on a short break might go to.

Some have a chain at the bottom and a belt on top. Originally you only changed the belt at 125k, the chain stayed there for the life of the engine. Advise has changed and most of the boys changed both at about 100k

Great value definitely 😀 But how do they ride compared to similar priced bikes, perhaps with slightly lower level of kit. Ultegra wont make up for a dead feeling uninspired ride. Not had a chance to ride that frame, has anyone who’s ridden a load of stuff got an unbiased opinion ?

Saying you “can’t go wrong at that price” doesn’t imply it functions better than other manufacturers clothing. Only that its cheap for a piece of Rapha kit. Rightly or wrongly some brands are more highly regarded than others. I can’t go wrong, because at that price if I don’t like it, come winter unused it will sell for a profit.

Just ordered a large. Can’t go wrong at that price ! If I don’t like it it goes on ebay next winter,

Did you read it all. The bit about how the parents are suing the driver, despite no charges being made. Their all as bad as each other IMHO.

Showed this one around my local. Unamous bring a bottle or plate, asking for cash is just cheap and nasty !!! I wouldn’t go mate or not.

I agree with the op. The seller probably didn’t intend to steal the money initially. But when he got it as a paypall gift and the buyer was miles away he thought “lets see if he chases”.

Only time I had a speed wobble on a road bike was when I had a near death experience avoiding a truck on my side of the road 8O. Relaxed, gripped the bike with my legs and it sorted itself out. The wobble startef as I tensed so could be what’s happening to you. Very scary when it happend !!!!

Plenty of good alloy bikes, but can’t say I’ve heard of someone moving a carbon frame to commuting duties and buying a cheapish alloy bike for Sunday best.
Why not revamp the CR1 and get a cheapish alloy bike ( decathlon ect ) for the commute ?
