If its a proper winter bike that’ll take full guards The Kinesis t2 is a bit cheaper than the tk3, which I’d be buying of ribena if his was my size :(. Loads of proper quick boys swear by the t2 for winter riding. Great deal below.

Went past this place a few times when we stayed in Bourg this August. Looked quite nice, thinking of renting a caravan there for nxt year.

Nothing wrong with loosing a few pounds of a bike even if you could loose more of yourself. True it won’t make a huge difference in overall speed, but a lighter bike will “feel” quicker and more responsive. For me anyway thats more fun.
If you want to loose weight start weighing the bikes components so you know where you stand. Look for nice bits in the classifieds and ebay. Over the years I’ve had nice parts bought s/h that have gone from bike to bike and cost very little.

I very much doubt the info cloudnine is looking for exists as a statistict. Interesting stuff though, not necessarily alarming, sort of fits in with my perceptions.

I know plenty of older taxi drivers who work less than 40hrs a week and do under 20, 000 miles a year. 20mph average !! I wish 14-15mph for me.
Saying that I wouldn’t buy an ex taxi, there’s so many other cars out there why take the risk. Mine get sold only when their tired and starting to cost money.

I’d be in favour of fireworks being banned except on the 5th of November and new years eve. But your neighbour isn’t breaking the law, and you getting in his face might make every night firework night 🙁

That war on motorists is working out well then

Why do you think it’s a war ? If you make it one I’m sure there’s drivers who’ll happilly oblige !! Who wins then, you on your flimsy bicycle or them in their tonnes of steel ?

Think they’re all nice despite the discs.

Deff this. All those pictures are from the drive side as well, so your not getting the full aesthetic impact.

For me I don’t use enough of the premium features to justify the cost over a full year. So I pay for 4 mths a year. Its easy to sighn up then cancel and I don’t feel like a bum.

Looking at the two AN jerseys on the first page and the dhb offering it seems obvious that they’ve used her designs to create it. Totally amazed some people can’t see it 😯
But really, wiggle-dhb and a designer label sold in Harrods ! I can’t see much of a crossover in sales. Bit like all the Primark stuff inspired by major fashion house designs.

No doubt recumbants work well in certain circumstances, and rightly have their niche fans. But they don’t offer the sort of riding experience the vast majority of cyclists are looking for, especially true for mountain biking. Great effort by all concerned especially considering the weather, but don’t forget the solo human powered 24hr record is over 700mls.

Surely any bit of road regularly used for uplifts is going to have hundreds if not thousands of “back of the van” Strava times ? Everyone will know the score. Can’t imagine anyone flagging them all. Same with BPW, try cycling up the fire road and getting into the top several thousand 😯

Forks are important but only as part of a complete bike package. List the bikes you’ll get some better feedback.

Not sure if the 22% is only rolling resistance. I’d bet the road bike transfers power much better as well.

A family member went through the same proccess as you OP. Totally kicked into touch because the “score” wasn’t high enough.
We payed for private counselling in the end. It helped a lot, but perhaps not the right or possible option for yourself.

I don’t understand what I’m doing wrong in crosswinds/descending? I’m not ‘over the back’ like on a mountain bike. I’m well over the front to weight the front. I’m also a tubby **** so when the gust comes- its sideways which I don’t ‘get’/understand. The wheel spokes are bladed- maybe on their own not a bad thing. Maybe bladed spokes combined with the square/flat haunches of the forks are a bad-mix?

None of the above probably.Every road bike I’ve had be it £400 or £4000 can feel a bit nervous decending if the cross wind is strong enough. Its just something you have to get used to. Upgrade all you like it’s great fun, but I doubt it will sort you’re problem out ( if it is a problem).

I’ve had an Aeroad and now have a ultimate cf slx. Both great bikes but for general riding around the ultimate cf slx gets my vote. Their both genuine pro tour frames so you can’t say one is “quicker” than the other.
You wouldn’t go wrong with either of them, so don’t over think it, get the one you like the look of most.
    P.s
At 6ft 3″ you want an xl the xxl is massive !!

If things are the same most places as they are around by me, nothing gets past the Strava police. Anyone appearing on the leaderboard gets intensly scrutinised. If you posted a KOM on an electric bike it would show up like a red rag to a bull for some of the local strava kings. The ride would be flagged almost as soon as it came up 😯

I actually really like the idea of a handicapped system, I haven’t got the foggiest how it would be implemented though.

Its already there, If you go premium dial in your weight and age and it gives you a corresponding leaderboard.

This is literally the worst thread I have seen on STW. The loss of someone’s life is never ok or something to be flippant about.

Got to agree with this. Sure he died as a result of his own actions, but to gloat over it is disgusting 🙁

A six pound frame and shock will easily build into a 26-27lb bike lighter if you spend a bit of money. The 32lb of Lesters bike rose my eyebrows a bit, but if he’s happy good for him. 😀 Weight isn’t the be all and end all for some people.

Thats a pretty aggressive reaction rascal. Sorry about your mum, but cancer has touched my family several times as well 🙁
For what its worth I’ve helped raise thousands of pounds for numerous cancer charities including Macmillan.
If anyone wants to do S/O good luck to them. Personally I’d prefer to “do” something rather than not do something as a charity fund raiser.

£85 sound about right depending where you live.

    1 very qualified dentist
    1 dental nurse
    Specialist materials
    Specialist equipment and sterilisation protocols
    Auxiliary staff (cleaner, receptionist etc.)
    Building and running costs.

this is all true, but my dentist trades out of a small detached property in the suburbs, employs six people max. He drives a new Bently his partner a Porsche 911 turbo thing. No problem as far as I’m concerned, but compared to other small buisinesses of a similar size their doing very nicely.

I was moving some furniture around with Mrs Taxi. I lift one end of the sofa up, she says its to heavy so I put my end down. As I do she shoves it over my foot catching my big toenail and tearing it off !!!! Most painful thing I’ve ever experienced, so bad I even went into shock.

So according to the consensus, a rider was riding where he shouldn’t be, someone takes a picture of him, the rider then trys to take the camera by force to at the very least delete the picture. It sounds a nasty incident to me, not the end of the world but the rider has acted like a thug and is plainly wrong. I can’t see how thus is anything but a big step back for those riders trying to get access to the forest 🙁
