My phone doesn’t show the new 2015 yearly achievements individually. It does however show the total number. I have to look on my pc to see them. The only ones that actually show on my phone are overall pb’s.

What it comes down to is who is having the most fun. I enjoy a technical climb, but like the vast majority prefer riding downhill, so I give way to people coming down

^^This, its so obvious. After all where not traffic as such on the trails, just people out having fun. I know this topic comes up for discussion from time to time but in 20+ years of mtb’ing, this up down priority thing has never been a problem for me, people just sort themselves out naturally without needing Rules to obey. Maybe that’s just where I ride, yet to meet a “I’m going up get out of my way” rider.

Op. Your lad isn’t a gender neutral experiment, whats important is that he’s happy riding his bike. The reality is that the vast majority of people, especially other children consider a pink bike to be a girls bike. Thats just how it is, regardless of what people on here think is right or wrong.

Your instinct about him someday realising he’s on a girls bike one day and not wanting to ride it is correct.
Just get him the boys bike, because that’s what he is.

Penhydd is the quickest and easiest, That and the wall is a nice ride. well under 3hrs is doable, but if your mate is coming back from injury probably not . If I had to pick one it would be whites 😀

Not meaning any disrespect Hora, and I do enjoy your threads. But you haven’t got anything like enough experience of road bikes steel, carbon whatever to make a proper decision about what you’ll like. Just get something in the right size, in a colour you like from a reputable manufacturer. Riding a bike is about getting out there and having fun. Once you’ve got a few miles and some experience you’ll know more. All this internet angst is just a distraction thats turning what should be fun and simple, into an endless confused problem.

For my own car they offered less than the scrap value, I got something like 5 times more on ebay.

EBay’s a lottery though, I bought my current car on ebay for £2850. the guy who sold it to me had turned down £2700 from WBAC.

I think I’d rather get a Cube or Cannondale at pauls cycles for the same money.

What Cube or Cannondale is comparable in terms of value for money ????
    This.

I know what I’d be buying.

Yep – I pay £280 on a £45k 3 litre 240bhp estate and that’s with one ‘at fault’ claim on my record and a speeding conviction (and it also covers my wife and business use).

Who’s that with ? I just ran a check for Mrs Taxi on that car, she’s been driving for 20yrs no accidents or conviction, SDP, 12,000 miles only and I couldn’t get close to that !!

No.2 is my hero, thought he was going to bottle the jump at 2.10 no way would I do that ever !! No.1 so what, loads of pro types out there doing the seemingly impossible without breaking a sweat.

way within budget and in stock. They have xl slx’s in stock for £2,599, which gets you a genuine world pro tour frame set.

@chakaping I know dozens of taxi drivers and have yet to meet one who’s a card carrying member of UKIP. And what if they were.

Why shouldn’t taxi drivers have a camera that might record evidencee in the event of an accident. Or is it only ok for cyclists ?

If I bought the book I’d be looking for the climbs to be “reasonably” climable. If not it would be 100 best of road descents !

Nothing will be perfect. But a “good few mm” sounds to much. Take them back.

Many years ago when I worked in a lb, checking the chain for stiff links, if fitted making sure the split link clip was fitted the right way round was part of the pdi.

Not sure I’d go from the triban to £700-800 new bike it wouldn’t be a great improvement in performance. Spend that money on something S/H and you could get something really nice 😀

Always tip unless service is really poor. 10-15% normally. Seems a bit of an odd thing to argue about. Mrs Taxi is even more generous than me, if I tried to leave without tipping she’d do it herself.

Actually, I’ll pass. Not so keen on them.

Your choice obviously but whats wrong with a Boardman, the name ?
Its one of the best bikes in it’s price range.

32″ inside leg and my SS is a 54. I think 58 would be far too big.

I’m 6ft with 33″ inside leg and ride a 58 canyon slx which is perfect for me. The super six is about 10mm longer in the top tube but I went to a 120mm stem on the Canyon to get the fit right, a 110mm stem on the S/S would make them nearly identical. I reckon you’d be fine on either the 56 or a 58 depending on how high you like the saddle above the bars without lots of spacers.

You made an offer it was accepted, contract made, your in the wrong hora. If your going to break the deal apologise to cynic and move on. But don’t expect other people not to take not and use it to make judgements on your character.

If your only doing a couple, and you enjoy what you ride use that. But if your asking will it be as quick as a lightweight 29er with suspension ? No it won’t, how much slower is impossible to say, is it worth the expense to buy a new bike, thats for you to decide.

The thing is the more rabid the attacks on Lance, the more sympathy he’ll get. Even taking into account his ruthlessness he has been treated more harshly than any of the other dopers. He’s out of pro cycling end of ! no coming back there. But saying a middle aged man can’t run a marathon or a triathlon, mtb event or whatever is ridiculously vindictive 🙁 He’s not a murderer or rapist ( even they could compete having served their time )

Cardiff’s only 30mins away, take your pick there. This place is handy for the A470, pub restaurant attachet or wander into Whitchurch. Not sure I’d bother staying in Merthyr.

Sounds ike poor show to me and would make me wary of buying one of these direct sales bikes.

You might very well get the same response as the OP had from a LBS.
As said sort yourself out a brake, and if you do get a replacment from Canyon you’ve got a spare.

Dissapointed they didn’t break it down further than time, they intimated 29 used less energy but not how many less calories or anything, clearly not enough to show a significant difference.

This I is what I was hoping for. How many calories does each bike need to get it around the course in say 10 minutes.

Personally I think no bike is that good that you should have to wait an indeterminate amount of time before it’s ready to ride. Other options are available.

This^^^ I’ve never ordered a bike that wasn’t in stock.

The fact that Orange are publishing the 0.47% statistic they obviously feel it’s a pretty good figure within the industry. But the 0.47% covers all riders. Mincers like me will probably never break one, others look at frames as consumables and break them on a regular basis.

Lance isn’t going to disappear anytime soon. Not whilst he and others ( not all supporters by any means ) feel his lifetime ban is unfair. At least in comparison to the penalties other cheats received. Personaly I’d have given him a ten year ban. Not really sure why anyone would be bothered about a 50yr old man competing in triathlons.

And a pair of road shoes with cleats and pedals is about half the weight of an equivalent SPD setup.

^^^ If you’ve got a nice bike there worth it for this alone. I’ve tried both and on the road, road shoes/pedals do work a bit better. If can’t believe this, well good for you, just keep on using whatever makes you happy.

Dull !! I love those super fast descents can’t ever remember being bored on that sort of thing. Deff looks like it was some ice that did for you, I especially like the grovelling on all fours before you collapsed onto your side, 9/10 for artistic interpretation 8)
