Are the BSOs of today really any worse than the bikes we use to use as kids?

I worked in a Lbs from 1978-81 and you didn’t see many totally rubbish bikes. for the most part spares were pretty generic so you could sort most bikes out. Cost wise the above Raleigh Grifter might have been a 35lb tank but it wasn’t cheap, about £80 or £400+ in todays money 😯

But to be fair most non cyclists will watch loads of TV spend hours on their phones ect, ect. In reality all of those things represent value for money to them. Hundreds of pounds spent on a bicycle for the occasional ride around the park would be a waste.

I don’t use any of the premium features either. But sign up for 4 or 5 months a year to support them. It’s easy to cancel your subscription, just pay as much as you like.

“brave man not long to go he said”

I must be missing something, how is the above mocking you ?
I’ll often say something similar, genuinely offering some encouragement and support 😀 Never realised some people might think I’m taking the piss. I’ll have to stop doing it and become another miserable git roadie.

Sounds like a large charity ride, you’ll often get a big group and support vehicles, can’t think of anything else likely to be out Friday morning.

I read the op’s post a couple of times and couldn’t understand the fuss, then realised it had been edited Lol. It is a shame about littering but with thousands of people gathering together in one place it will be inevitable :(. I’ve long given getting worked up about it, it’s just a fact of life.

Because no one in the universe could afford 2 and then f~#k them over every weekend for 3 months a year riding round in knee deep sh1te and blasting them with a power washer every other lap.

Nothing suprises me anymore about how much some people can afford to spend on bikes. Two of those, no problem 😯

If you charge by the hour, how much would it actually cost for 30 seconds work?

30 seconds if your lucky, 9 times out of 10 if it’ll be knackered and impossible to adjust properly. so 30 seconds becomes 20mins of stripping, greasing and faffing all for free. 🙁

Thisisnotaspoon. The system the op linked to is Aus 4,300 dollars or £2,200 a lot of money to save a bit of pedalling !!!

and I’d still to pay for my own place.

This is the bottom line for me, I’ve always payed my own entry or covered the minimum requirement myself. Anything anyone gives me in sponsorship goes to the charity. Normally I’ll only sponsor those people who do the same, normally that is I’m not an arse about it.

What no one has answered. If the OP goes down the small claims route, would the bank supply him with the other parties details ?? If the won’t where would you go from there.

Whichever one is in the best condition. For what you want that’s the most important thing.

I do road and mtb roughly 50/50.If you take out technical descents I find it much easier to get a Strava front page result off road.

My mate had exactly the same problem. He ordered a set of Deore’s from Ribble this morning, £71.95 I think.

Might have been better of looking at a Synapse tbh unless you are particularly bendy.

Not everyone who posts on here is a fat inflexible biffer 😉
Its a great bike you’ll love it. 😀

I’d put it in writing, send a copy to the estate agent and keep one for yourself. Best nip it in the bud, if you don’t you just know the new owner us going to park their car there.

I put some 120mm forks on my superfly 100 sl. Really happy with them, it didn’t change the handling much, certainly not in a bad way. Bonus being the Rebas I fitted work much better than the Fox ctd’s.

I put my fathers flat up for sale before probate was granted. I accepted an offer on it as well, but everything was “subject to probate” estate agent, solicitors ect seemed to think this was normal. Probate took about 6wks and everything went ahead.

As a means of transport great. As a recreational vehicle sharing the same trails as mtbs sorry no. And as others have said if I ever get to the stage went I can’t pedal a bike as I’d like then I’m out. I love cycling but electric assist isn’t cycling as I see it,not now or ever will be.

But how often to you change stems ? You find one that works and leave it at that. I’ve never thought “for today’s ride I’ll go 6 degrees”

They can be a bit tight on the shoulders when new, but they do loosen up a bit. Love mine, hate catching a baggy crotch on the saddle nose on or off road.

The bottom line is without male and female sport being separated there will be no women in elite sport, physically we’re very different there’s no getting around that.

Until you get older and then decide that going fast is more fun on a FS especially when it compensates for your lack of skill.

If I find my full suss is compensating for my lack of skills I just go faster, it doesn’t take long for my skills to be maxed out again.
