@ deviant. Feel the same as you, all a bit weird some posters attitude to dogs, only seem to come across it on here. But much as I love dogs I’d never take mine to a trail centre, very poor mix IMHO. Thousands of miles out there to ride with them. I know legally you could walk an elephant around Afan, but just because you can it doesn’t mean you should.

Mine came yesterday, thought about getting a frame but didn’t have anything to go on it, with the 10% of from Bike-active buying a pro spec worked for me.

Only had a quick spin but it felt very stable and confidence inspiring. Might bunk of work early tomorrow and have a spin around Cafall.

Fancy doing the first round of this, but what class. I’d like to be competive so what to enter ? It would be G.Vet or hardtail.

I work on the principal that for every hour cycling I loose nothing !! But for every piece of cake I put 0.5kg on. I know I’m right 🙁

You do go past old “Badger watchers” house, or did unless he’s moved. Ron’s a good bloke though, had a chat with him a few times.

I imagine that the main effect of putting responsibility onto sponsors would be to scare them away from the sport!

I would imagine its the only effect !! And how could any vetting predict that a young athlete with no record of cheating would do so in the future?

@ Dragon. Your routes just about all legal, bits that might not be are all commonly ridden, nobodies the slightest bit worried about it.

If it was just a common market in, but it’s not so I’m out. No idea about the consequences of a successful out vote but I’m prepared to find out.

I’m out whenever I can fit it in SR. Only go out on the Mtb in daylight though, evening rides this time of the year are on the road.
We’ll have to catch up for a ride soon it’s been way to long.

Most of the riding is to the North of Cardiff, and very wet it is at the moment 😯 You can still put some pretty good loops together even now so it’s worth getting out.
The Wednesday night ride are a good bunch, if it’s the same as it was it’s a very social ride with the beer being as important as the riding on many occasions :D.
I live in N.Cardiff and would be happy to show you a few trails as would others on here I’m sure.

If when you go to the toilet your urine is a pale straw like colour and more or less odour less your getting enough fluids. If its dark and pungent you could be dehydrated, thats when you need to concern yourself about drinking more water.

Fast riders will be fast on any bike, but saying that there seems to be some evidence that fat bikes roll well over some types of ground and carry speed well through corners.
But then they loose in absolute speed in other areas. I don’t think your going to see them as the bike of choice for serious racers, but they certainly seem to have a sweet spot that clicks with some riders.

I know some of you are saying here career is over. But I’m not seeing that myself, she’s only 19, accountable for her actions yes, but also its an age where your easily influenced by family and older people that are around you. A court would recognise that and use it as mitigation let alone a UCI Disciplinary panel. Add all this “not my bike” smokescreen and I’d be very suprised if she got more than a 12 month ban and a fine that she would be reasonably be able to pay.
After that if she’s good enough she’ll get a ride. Cycling is full of returned cheats of all sorts, not sure why she’ll be any different.

Look at it carefully to start. Try tapping it with a coin and listen out for a change in tone. A dull thud instead of a high pitched sound is bad.

You can insure just about anything so with a specific policy for the bike I get it. But on a home policy ? How would they know frame broke in an accidental crash and didn’t just break. If so you’d never have to worry about an out of warranty frame breaking ever again, “I fell of and it broke”. Love to be wrong 😀

Edit: maybe I am looking at murobikers post. Worth checking it out OP.

Never heard of anyone claiming for a bike they’ve crashed whilst riding. If so I’d love to know the company.

That really sucks, but with a crease in the down tube that frame is toast 🙁 Anyway you could beg steal or borrow the money for the frame ? I’d be worried about getting a new one if you left it to long.

It’s all a bit strange ? I’ve cycled for 50 years, had dozens of dogs chase me for a bit, been subject to savage growling, aggressive ball sniffing even the occasional nip. But honestly WTF. Is it only on here that every dysfunctional dog hater in the country comes to have a moan ?

@thedude. Op’s gone to sleep on this lol. I’ve got one coming next week 😀 and will let you know about the ride.

Its 4.5mls at an average 5.1%. Just take it easy and spin taking in the views as they appear 😀 Saying that some bits are steeper, especially near the top so most people will feel the burn by then. I love it probably my favourite off road climb.

Not sure why people like table service in bars ? Walk in find a table if you can, try and attract attention of waiter/waitress, wait for drink to arrive. You want to go, attract serving person ask for bill wait for that, wait for change ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ?ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZXXZZZZZZZZZZZ.

I’m Welsh, born and live in Wales. All my parents and grandparents were born in Wales, but originally my family came from Scotland and the West country. Wales is a great place with for the most part warm and friendly people. But outside of the Uk I think of myself as British and I’m proud to be so. I’m only Welsh if people assume I’m English.
I’m patriotic to Britain first, all of it, then Wales. Putting a Welsh rugby shirt on and getting pissed is fun. But to me that’s all it is, a bit of fun. Other views exist but not everyone in Wales is what we refer to as “professional Welsh men”

MTFU seriously !! I wouldn’t go and Mrs Taxi couldn’t make me, but she wouldn’t try because she’d be with me having a laugh at the old friends house warming.

On my honeymoon I was riding a motorcycle with Mrs Taxi as pillion on route 101 just North of San Francisco. Seeing a Cafe on the left hand side of the road I pulled over for a break. Riding up to the entrance we saw the closed sign and without stopping I pulled back onto the road…. On to the wrong side, it was a rural road with nothing to jog my mind to get me over to the right. Within seconds a car appeared and we had a collision, fortunately the driver actually managed to stop and I nearly did, so nobody got hurt. But I still think about it 26yrs later and what might have happened.
I have no idea what happened in Spain nor does anyone on here, but we all make mistakes. Not saying you shouldn’t be accountable for them, but we all make them. Healing vibes to all the Giant boys and no doubt if culpable the driver will be punished, but don’t forget we’re all human and all fallible 🙁

    https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/State_(polity)

Not seeing anything there that prevents IS being referred to as IS. It seems to full fill all the requirements of a “state”. An evil aberration but a state non the less 🙁

How long are you going for ? Around here it’s taking at least 2wks for a funeral after someone dies. If your partners aunt is still alive before you go it’s unlikely the funeral will take place before you get back.

If it was a pile of junk I’d have dropped it around the police station the next day. Something I could use, it would have been mine way before 3 mnths, 3days maybe LOL. But saying that if the original owner turned up years later and I still had it he could have it back no problem.
Honestly all you holier than thou people really do make me laugh 😆

Have to agree with IHN touts aren’t profiteering from sick or starving people. If your a real fan and attend club matches or are a member of a club you’ll have a fair chance of a ticket. There’s always going to be some that come on the secondary market, it gives the more casual supporter a chance for that perhaps once in a lifetime experience.

Cafall is probably my favourite welsh mtb trail. I agree people might prefer one trail to another, but I’m not sure how you could hate riding it, but enjoy riding your bike elsewhere ? It’s a track that goes up and down, round bends up a mountain and through some woods, whats not to like !!! If you find it not particularly challenging, just go faster untill you do. 😀

I’d imagine the people who work at Cotic have a preference for smaller frames hence their recommendations. A friend of mine was told to go with a small soul, to me he’s a medium all day long, he’s happy though so what do I know. Personally I like bigger frames so 6ft 33″ leg its large for me.

They’re easily obtainable (providing you don’t expect it to be delivered on time) though; accessible to all and sundry. Anyone can buy one. A really mediocre dream.

Hadn’t it been decided that £4000 didn’t really buy you a “dream” these days, just possibly a great bike.

my pegoretti cost around that. i wouldn’t swap it for anything (apart from another pegoretti)

I’m sure there lovely, if it’s your dream bike it’s great you’ve got one.

a canyon popped out of a mould in taiwan is never going to be a ‘dream bike’

This is why I love STW 😀 One of the most successful world pro tour bikes in recent years. Ridden by some of the greatest riders of this generation, can’t possibly be anyone’s “dream bike”. 😆 😆
Why not because its not steel welded up by some Italian !!

As its been said £4000 can get you a very nice bike but it’s not really enough for a “dream bike”. You’ll get as many opinions as there are people asking on here, so your friend is going to have to make his own mind up bout what to buy. His original idea about a Canyon is worth sticking with, they will sort themselves out and they are great bikes and such good value. I’m a large and it’s in stock ( allegedly )
My £4000 would go on one of these.
