I’d challenge her behaviour, not aggressively but firmly. Tell her how she’s behaving and the effect it’s having on you. Mrs Taxi has suffered occasional bouts of depression over the years. Not being a doormat and standing up for myself is the only thing that got us through.

I moved the other way as part of the aging process. Rode everywhere with a 53/4-39 , 12/25 for years. Unless I moved to Holland or Lincolnshire nothing would make me change back !! Embrace the compact there’s no shame 8)

Pretty much agree with the OP. 2×10 on my X/C marathon bike and 1×11 on my trail playing in the woods bike. I’m pretty cadence sensitive and there’s definitely a couple of either to spiny or to hard gears on the 1×11. Not a problem for general riding but would be annoying for racing. As an aside with 29’ers the lowest 32×42 ain’t that low, it’s taking a bit of getting used to.

Not in New york but I’ve used Booking.com to rent loads of apartments, never had a problem. A quick look showed dozens in NY.

    They threatened to charge him,

By they I assume there was more than one police officer involved ? we have to take the OP’s word that he’s accurately repeating the conversation he had with his friend, but I can’t believe there was two police officers in the same place at the same time, that think it’s illegal to ride a bicycle in daylight without lights, and wearing dark clothing 😯 😯 . I’ve never heard such a thing from even the most Neanderthal of bike haters. Let alone trained police officers !!

But it’s not going to happen though, certainly not here in Wales !! 70 Dr’s and academics sign a letter 🙄 you could get 700 to sign something saying the exact opposite.

Sure, i see that, but when people say there’s a 100% markup on inner tubes as if it’s an outrage – at the end of the day it’s only a quid or two. That’s what i was after….. everyone quotes % margin but only £’s pay the bills.

when I worked in a bike shop 30+ years ago, some of the margins were astronomical 😯 We’d buy a box of cable ferrules, unit price 0.5p and sell them for 3p. The owner was a millionaire 😉

What threads like this perfectly illustrate is how people confuse their own preferences with good and bad. Mad Max by the large majority of impartial opinion, of its type is a good film.
That doesn’t mean everybody is going to like it we have different tastes. But if something has inherent merit it’s not “crap” or rubbish it’s just that you don’t like it.

Bit OTT there pilot !! Nobodies making you ride there. You certainly don’t have to go to Scotland to avoid it 😆 Imho it’s great fun and as it us a commercial venture a bit of commercialism is to be expected. Miles and miles of S.Wales natural trails you could ride for free 😀

Loving my scout 290 😀 how come you only want 120mm of travel ? fair enough if you already have a fork, but the 130mm forks on the scout feel spot on and give a bit of insurance for my clumsiness 😆

You must have bent the jaws open a bit 🙁 as people have said shimming it out a bit should work.
I’ve just fitted one to my bike, it seems a nice bit of kit, just hope it isn’t a bit fragile.

Does a standard crank remover fit those threads ? If so I’ve got a plug that should fit the axle. I’m not doing anything this afternoon, email me your address if you want me to have a look.

The dark tower series references loads of other SK Books along with his own personal autobiography. And some books can be read as stories in there own right. But IMHO It’s best read as a single work. Yes the last book is frustrating but it’s an epic journey well worth taking.

@ xyeti. I haven’t worked in a Lbs for 35yrs, people used to bring bikes in dirty then, nothings changed they still do. Lbs near me charges £15 to clean a bike to dirty to work on. If you could clean and dry a bike in 5 mins I’d do it as a matter of course and incorporate the cost into the repairs. Just like your car at a good garage.

Looks a good bit of kit. Like everything you don’t need it but might be nice to have anyway. I’d imagine it would be great for bike shops. A customers bike comes in stinking, 5mins its clean and dry ready to work on, nothing worse than trying to fix a soaking wet bike in the workshop.

I suppose this thread is the perfect example of why reviews need to be moderated if their to have any value. The OP’s complaint and resulting 1 star revue are grossly “misleading”. If a poor review instigates an investigation as it appears with Evans how can you complain, If the investigation goes on to show a product is in fact rubbish I’m sure it’ll be put back up. ( hopefully )

I’ve never had a request as my settings allow anyone to follow me if they want to. Can’t get my head around “approving” people. Got loads of randoms usually flybys, but some from miles away or on different continent’s. Couldn’t care less really, perhaps they’re just impressed by my awesomeness LOL.

Battle on the beach is a bit unique. Straight of the start you’ve got 3mls of flat beach possibly into a strong headwind. At the end of which there’s a bottle neck !! It’s a race so I’m presuming you’re going to give it 100% and aiming for as good a result as your able. 1st or second or 301st against 302st every position counts or why enter a race ??
Get as close to the front row as you can, get into a group down the beach, don’t do any work just hide, as you peel of the beach move forward and put in a spurt towards the sandy bank that takes you off the beach. This is the point were a bit of effort can save you minutes. Better to loose a few places getting a breather once your onto the trails rather than a couple of hundred by hanging back at the start and being stuck at every pinch point !! I’m not doing it this year but enjoy, its one of the U.K’s best cycling events 😀

Luke Webber sounds like a good one, but my maximum for non paypal payments is £50. If I was selling stuff I’d definitely have a paypal account.
    Totally understand the op’s caution.

Plus 1 for xcracer.com I’ve got mnt zoom bars and kcnc stuff all over my light bike. I’m no lightweight and nothings broken so far.
As for having a dump before a ride, I do and my bikes light as well 😀

If I only had one road bike and it was going to be used all year round. Well yes I’d be looking at discs, but for my nice summer bike no chance. I don’t like the look of them for a start, in the dry or even a bit of rain my ultegra calipers work great. 10,000 miles later I’m still on the original brake blocks, and the rims will last for years.
Choice is great though so buy what you fancy. But on my road bike braking is one of the least things I do.

Could you fit the newer straps to go with the newer buckles you have ?

There’s lots of great road riding. That’s what I do when I’m over there. Without a guide finding the good trails could be difficult. For what it’s worth when I’ve been out and about all the mtb riders I’ve seen have been lycra clad x/c types on nice x/c race bikes.

I’ve always managed to get out on the road bike after 4wks and the mtb at about 6wks. Just riding around stuff nothing to hard, just remind yourself you don’t want to be falling of onto your shoulder.
L’etape loch ness, 106k pretty flat in 10wks, You’ll have no problem.

This is my right collar bone I’ve broken it 4 times. They’ve never plated it and I never pushed, it always heals up on its own sooner or later.

Jump into a taxi in Cardiff and you can play a game wondering if the driver is me. It’ll be obvious really, I’m probably the only taxi driver you’ll meet not moaning about the bloody cyclists 😆

Mine came with the 46mm off-set forks. The front wheel seems miles out front, wouldn’t go with 51mm unless thats what I already had.
Weight wise my pro spec came in at just over 27.5 lbs out of the box without pedals. I’d imagine the large frame is at least 5 lbs.

Like you I’ve always thought with bikes it was the cost of a new bike you got. At least that’s what people i know have received. You wouldn’t want 50% for the first year then 10% per year applied 😯

Good on you Toys, I’d do exactly the same. Sure I’d be a bit miffed for 5mins but as long as it was slight cosmetic stuff, just crack on.
I do wonder if some people actually ride the bikes they buy ? The Reign looks great I’m sure you’ll love it 😀

Op might want to do it as he doesn’t have a suitable 11spd rear wheel at the moment.
