So do I but I’m not sure I could bore on about it for half an hour.

I probably could. But I’ve never found anyone prepared to listen for that long 🙁

How sensitive are you ? First spin up I can tell the difference between lightweight and normal tubes. After a few minutes I’ve adjusted and things feel the same.
More to the point I’ve got some sram roam 40 wheel and really rate them. I don’t think the flow/pro wheel set is a massive upgrade, certainly not worth it until the Roam’s are trashed.

Timing’s also a bit of a worry – we’re planning to have a couple of people noting down numbers at the finish line, rather than going to the expense of getting a professional timing service in. Does this work OK?

It does, but it helps if you’ve got someone with experience of doing it. It’s the system that racing used, well since racing started. Plenty of clubs still do for low key events.

People will expect timing, not just positions, all the way to the back.

People can want lots of things, timings down to last place is something they don’t normally get in local, low key events. 😀

Of all the new wheel sizes I’d say 29+ has the least appeal. It’s got it’s fans but not really catching on with main stream riders.

I’d go with a “good working condition” restoration. It’s a bike so it’s all good, but I wouldn’t chuck money at it.

No. Why would you even think you have to pay more tax than your legally obliged to do so ?
If you have excess income “YOU” decide how best to spend it for the general good.

The drop bar thing is a safety issue, flat bars are more likely to hook drops when your riding in a group. Or at least that’s the belief. Not sure about the clipless pedal rule, not come accross that.

No never, every bike that I’ve bought that has been fit for its its indented purpose 😀 . I expect to have to change contact points, adjust seat angles stem lengths ect. Even doing that every bike will be a bit different but after a few rides I’ll get used to it.
Got to laugh at all of you bike Princess’s, just think of the pro’s, they just get a bike put in front of them and they just ride the thing. It isn’t complicated.

You have it Op, just crack on with what you’ve got. Don’t worry about getting of and pushing if you have to, better to save your legs for latter in the ride than killing them half way round. Last year at the Velethon it was wall to wall pushing up Caerphilly mountain and thats only 16%.

We had a fantastic holiday with,
    http://www.robinhoodboats.co.uk/location_sawley.php#topsearch

Starting at Sawley marina on the Trent Mersey. Three days cruising got us Tamworth on the Coventry. You can moor up 10mins walk from Drayton Manor, so we had a day there and cruised back. Liked it so much I gave getting my own boat some serious consideration. I might still one day 😀

As some people have no end of trouble with Reverbs, and others never have a problem is there a common link. Something about the way they ride, or use a reverb that’s causing them to fail ?

I doubt a cheaper helmet is less “safe” than a dearer one. The higher price might buy less weight, better finish, more comfort and features ect.

How does it feel ? If it’s comfy for you then it’s fine. From the pictures nothing looks completely wrong.

Unless no motor pacing was stipulated in the original bet, then there’s been no cheating. Good solution to the challenge IMHO.

Agree, Snr’s comments were purely pragmatic. Blackwell was nails !! Never stopped fighting or defending himself. Fingers crossed he makes a full recovery.

If you’ve had an Op ignore all the Mtfu advise including my own. You’ll have to wait untill it’s properly healed, could be weeks !!

@ Gwaelod. It was open last time I went up a few months ago. Its a right of way past the quarry the use the security fencing to separate it from the quarry traffic.
The r/h turn is pretty doable now, but the last l/h super steep turn that brings you up to the quarry is still a pig. I’ve cleaned it twice in dozens of attempts over the years 🙁

No, I get bored with bikes after a few years and look to change regardless. Never worry about obsolecence either. I just pick something from whats available at the time, and go with that.

Good luck you weren’t seriously injured 😯
But I think you’ll be lucky to get 50-50. It sounds like the driver didn’t look, and was unaware of your presence. But he’s not going to admit to that is he 🙁 What he’s going to say is “I was approaching my house looked in my mirror indicated, next thing a cyclist going about 100mph rode into my car”. It’ll be that or something similar, because on insurance forms 99% of people always lie.

So he allegedly illegally manipulated the markets to make £28,000,000 and in all probability causing others to loose substantial sums. What ever faults America has at least they take white collar crime seriously.

As above, I’m fitting a 30t chainring to go with the 10-42 on my 29er. The 32t just tires me out on longer steeper climbs.

Nothing wrong with the Architype’s, their the go to rim for a lot of people. Saying that if they haven’t worked for you and you don’t want to take up the offer from the original builders just move on. Not sure what Bromley’s issue is with Archy’s ? But that doesn’t ring true either. Sounds like their only interested in what they sell.

The joy of custom bikes is that you get what “you” want not what someone else thinks you should have. Because of that they can be a bit Marmite for other people. You love it and that’s all that matters, but I’m not loving the colours and the shock looks out of balance with the skinny tubes ?

Sram are 94bcd is the Blackspire 96 bcd ?
If so you’ll need to do a bit if filling to make it fit.

I’ve been practising, I have this fantasy about pulling an effortless manual, past all the wheelie pulling young punks who loiter around outside my local fish and chip shop……….. it’s not going well 🙁

I’d do the Twrch first. The climb is more technical and for me at least, I need fresh legs to have any chance of clearing it.

Not required. I have made it explicitly clear in all my postings including the thread title that this is ONLY for use on private land. I even describe how to re-restrict it for the ride home.

Like that’s what’s really ,really, really going to happen with the vast majority who would de restrict their ebke 🙄
You guys do what you want with your electric/ebikes, I don’t mind. But stop pretending your still somehow cyclists because you ain’t.

Last time I bought a s/h mtb I met the seller at a motorway service station. It was £1800, I looked it over, nothing was broken everything was as described. I didn’t bother riding it around the car park, what would have been the point ? Same thing with the last thing I sold £2000 road bike. The buyer knew what it was, didn’t need to mess about riding it a few hundred yards, just checked it over and paid me the money 😀 . I wouldn’t refuse a potential buyer a test ride, but any bike I sell is an enthusiasts bike and have only had decent people showing up. If you can’t judge people at least a little bit, and show a bit of trust perhaps private sales aren’t for you.
For what it’s worth in my experience if someone insists on riding your 160mm f/s mtb or carbon fibre top end road bike around the block they aren’t going to buy it anyway.

Not sure how these things work, you get a life ban so you’ll never race again. Why would you pay the €50,000 fine imposed by the sporting body. Thats not enforceable by the courts is it ??
    P.s
    Personally I don’t think she’ll get a life ban.

I’ve just had one for my tea. Ok taste wise but not brilliant. Plenty of heat 😛 I’d put it up there with a hottish Vindaloo, but not the same as a good Phall. Worth £1.50 for a quick heat fix.
