To answer the Op’s question £250 is what I’d be looking to get of a friend for the bike. I give parts box bits away, but I’d need something for a full bike.

@gonzy. Tell your mate to delete his comment’s asap. Whatever the rights or wrongs a personal threat coupled with knowledge of the bigots address is something the police might take seriously !!!

Mrs Taxi and myself have been together 33yrs. She’s easy going and lets me get away with 99% of my nonsense, that alone reduces tensions to a minimum. But it hasn’t all been plain sailing :(. Probably the main reason where still together is the fact that we’re each others best friend, if we weren’t that it would have been over years ago.

Unless of course your bored with the Spesh and you fancy something new :D. About 3yrs is all I’ll keep a bike for. Trying new stuff is part of the riding experience for me.

Great pics epicycle !! Fantastic that you’ve found a bike that suits you and your riding. But honestly what are you, in the 1% of mtb’ers ?
Fat bikes are a niche bike they won’t suit everyone, and my guess is that they’ve plateauad already. Yes I’ve ridden one and they’re not for me. Why because they are exactly what they say on the tin FAT !!

I got some mint formula rx brakes of ebay for £55 saved 120gms over the Xt 785’s I had on the bike already.

Am I mad for thinking of doing a 13 mile commute on flats?

No, but I think you are for asking a bunch of argumentative weirdos on the internet.
Why don’t you just try it and see how it works out ?

    Are you Damon Hill, Taxi?

Wish I was RA then I’d have a F1 world championship as well. The old man had a passing resemblance to Graham Hill but he drove the even scarier early 70’s F5000

It is not all about speed, it is how the bike feels. Your own weight is not so relevant as that is all on your body whereas the bike is more like dead weight

This really, after a point a bike looses it’s light responsive feel, for me that’s at about 28 lbs. Not so important if gravity is helping you but 80% of the time even in S.Wales I’m going up or on the flat. I want a bike to feel nice not just some of the time but for most of it.

After 25yrs clipped I thought I’d try flats on my messing about in the woods bike. I tried it for a couple of months, deffinetly needed more energy climbing (a lap of Cwmcarn killed me), on slow technical climbs I’d lift my foot of the pedal if the rear wheel got hung up. After so many years of my feet being in exactly the same position clipped in, I felt uncomfortable with my feet being even a couple of MM away from that “sweet spot”. I did like the bit of confidence I got on slow steep stuff. But then I pulled my calf on a small jump because my foot was to far back on the pedal, so the spd’s went back on and I couldn’t be happier

Honestly OP just walk away. Ask for your money back and move on. If he won’t refund you slap in the small claims paper work, just finnish this nonsense up.

I’ve done it the once 4.59.58 !! If I’d gone over the 5hrs I might have had another go. But it’s not really my thing so I won’t be going back.

Surley when they develop some play thats a sign that some attention is needed !!! Why would you keep riding the post to destruction 😯
Mines a couple of years old now, no problems at all, but it’ll get a service soon just like all the other parts on my bike.

Cash for me every time. Not sure why people frightened of carrying a bit of money, realistically what’s the chance of being robbed walking to someone’s front door ir anywhere in the UK for that matter.

See your Gp, a blood test will confirm glandular fever. You can ride your bike when your able. It took me a year to get over it fully, for months I had fatigue, even walking down the street might leave exhausted with a racing heart beat !!!

If you want to start at Sa Colobra catch the ferry
    http://barcoscalobra.com/sitio/inicio/?lang=en
    Then follow the above route.

Your not obliged to “report” anything if no claim is going to be made. Get an estimate for repairs from an independent body shop telling them it’s a cash job. Show it to the other party, if he doesn’t pay up there and then start the insurance process, within reason there’s no rush. I’ve gone down this route a few times, much less hassle than making a claim.

I may even leave the tiny bars on for a laugh.

I wouldn’t, much more fun with the wider bars and shorter stem. As far as your Strava times go I’d say you’ll be faster over everything apart from the roughest downhills, then the Patriot wins. Couldn’t see the rigid 29er being fastest apart from the smoothest trails.

Broke mine 25 yrs ago, it needed a screw to hold the bone in place. They were doing clinical trial using disolvable screws at the time so I chose that option. As above I rode my bike with my cast on. I could jog about 3-4 wks after that was removed, but it was probably 12 mnths before I had total confidence in the ankle.

I’d go for the grand canyon 5.9
£1299 and listed as in stock. Order one give it 10 days or so to arrive, hopefully everything will be fine, but Cancel at the first sign of being messed about and try plan B.

But you don’t know that do you, only that you want to believe thats how it was. I don’t either, but if concerns are raised (real or imagined) any responsible club secretary would pass them on. It’s called being a grown up. Some of you should try it.

Club secretary sends out missive reminding members to show “consideration to other road users”. What exactly is the problem with that ? Pretty sure no one here actually saw the riding that generated the complaints, so how can you say it wasn’t in some way inconsiderate.

Normally s/h or frame only so cash. But my last mtb is a new out 2016 model so nothing s/h or big discounts. I still got 10% of and 36 mnths at 0%.

I did it last year and it was great, not sure what problem people had with the organisation but it went off fine as far as I could see. The route is what it is, everyone’s got an opinion, but it’ll always be a compromise trying not to cause to much disruption and creating an enjoyable route.
With regards to people driving, my brother in law is whining again that he can’t get his car out of the road to get to work. I told him to park it 600yds away the evening before and he’ll have no problem. His attitude is why should he have to !!! So **** him and all the other moaners 😀

Although some riders will change gearing on race day, most won’t. 1×11 gives you a chance to have gearing that suits 99% of the time. Last thing I’d want to think about pre race is what chainring to use !!

Put some 120mm forks and a dropper on a f/s xc bike. Great for mile munching and lets you have a bit of fun on rougher sections as well.
Don’t listen to the cyclocross crowd, their very much a compromise of road on all but the smoothest trails.

The thing with conspiracy theories if you repeat enough of them you’ll be right sooner or later. JHJ is just playing the numbers game. It’s all very amusing and occasionally some of it will be true.

In practice though it’ll have little effect. The fines weren’t much of a deterrent. £60 on top of the cost of a trip to Disney land isn’t going to put anyone off. You either think it’s ok to take your kids out of school or you don’t.
