As do many Christian families and Churches (such as the JW and the Plymouth Brethren for instance)

Indeed they might, people disown their children for all manner of reasons, but across the breadth of Christianity you’re far less likely to be disowned for renouncing your faith than in Islam. I’m not going argue about that it’s just a fact.

Do British Muslims disown their kids if they become Christian?

    In many many cases yes.

Not too late to edit taxi

All of it is untrue ffs.

Ok if not completely true in every case, lets call it true in many cases.
Telling me to edit because you disagree with me, isn’t that remarkable arrogance ?

Not looking to defend Pastor Richard, but what about the above isn’t true.

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is an Islamic absolute monarchy in which Sunni Islam is the official state religion based on firm Sharia law. No law requires all citizens to be Muslim, but non-Muslims must practice their religion in private and are vulnerable to discrimination and deportation.[1] Children born to Muslim fathers are by law deemed Muslim, and conversion from Islam to another religion is considered apostasy and punishable by death.[

Honestly, it’s like roadies debating disk brakes. If you like the idea, go for it, if not, don’t.

But the debate goes beyond just personal choice. Some people believe e-mtb’s have the potential to cause problems in the countryside that might affect all mtb’ers. Thats the core discussion.

Like I said, maybe ALL of the riders I see are in the 99% who are not trying and bought a bike to help them up hills with less effort.

In a public session before Sutton gave evidence, Miss O’Rourke said the defence’s case is that Sutton is a “habitual and serial liar” as well and “a doper, with a doping history”.

After that I wouldn’t have given evidence, just gone home.

To me its obvious, jolly to say thank you to the team, no extra tax will be paid by anyone, creative accounting will write it all of. I bet everyone is gagging to go, I would and like perchy I have a costume (elephant). Maybe the non attendee genuinely can’t go and is gutted, so just give the poor sod the day of. Just make sure everyone takes loads of photos of everyone having a brill time and taunt them with them for the next couple of weeks.

For those who’ve never broken a rear mech……

Maybe you haven’t, but I’d be careful about trying to extrapolate that experience to others.

This is fair comment, but if like me your into the 5th year on a mech, hub gears and gearboxes make no sense whatsoever. But if people can find a system that suits them it’s all good.

If you don’t have a decent hill to contend with any reasonably fit rider will hit the limiter on their ebike which removes the psychological incentive to pedal harder to go faster

Not really, 15mph is far quicker than most riders go on proper off road going flat or undulating. Quick sprints maybe but not over any distance. A quick look at a typical undulating but climb neutral strava segment in my local woods has the kom at 15.5mph. Thats held by a e-mtb rider who keeps loging his rides as a normal mtb. Nearest normaly aspirated rider is at 13.5mph. The higher speed is down to the e-mtb being able to go at close to 15mph on up bits but obviously over that on the down.

Does anyone find that long hill climbs on normal bikes are just so boring ??

I generally enjoy a good climb, but if it was the same climb over and over as you might do to session a descent I would. But my rides follow a route so I don’t usually repeat a climb. Then I also ride light nice climbing bikes which makes all the difference, you feel as if your still “riding” not winching.

I am very confident that if a nurse had used that technique they would be facing a substantial, and deserved, prison sentence … buy its the police so its all good.

Pretty sure nurses don’t have to arrest people on crowded tubes where there could be a risk to the general public. But if it was felt a headbut was the best, safest way to restrain a patient why would they deserve a prison sentence ?

I can think of quite a few things that would improve the chances of my pupils that would be more effective than adding 0.75 more motivated pupils per class.

Most schools wouldn’t even benefit from that number. The ex private school kids would go to those highly ranked state schools in prosperous leafy suburbs. The ones that like asking parents for voluntary/suggested donations. Before long you’d get schools competing for pupils from wealthy families because of the secondary funding they’d bring in. Privilege always finds a way.

The fact that you see it as my problem not societies is the actual problem, if it became your problem too, it might show the need to fix it!!

Not everyone sees it as societies problem at all. You state that it is as an undisputed fact. It isn’t thats only “your” opinion. You have the problem and others with a like opinion, not society as a whole.

I think one place to start with resolving this could be to separate Sex and Gender. I think that people should accept their ‘Sex’ and how that might limit them but at the same time society as a whole should respect people’s gender

If “everybody” could accept this simple message then everything would be hunkydory. Its the “limit them” thats the sticking point.

The problem the police have is that these groups do provide usefull evidence they can use against active paedophiles. They have to balance that against the fact that many members of these groups are inadequate bullies. Once it gets to the point of “confronting” suspects then they’ve gone to far. Police should make it clear that they wouldn’t accept information at that point, and are only interested in intelligence.

    Not at Todmorden Swimming Baths.
Or the ones at Sowerby Bridge.

Would that be everyone having their own cubicles, or do both genders strip off in front of each other in a communal area ? I’m betting it’s not the latter.

The Grenfell fire was fairly unique, in British fire fighting so there’s obviously lessons that can be learned. But the conspiracy bollocks is simply beyond contempt. From the Independent article.

There were 65 rescues in total. All the following would be against the rules, but firefighters did them: going above the fire without breathing apparatus to knock on doors and get people out; attempting snatch rescues without breathing apparatus; going above the fire without a hose and sufficient water; going past the time of whistle and into your safety margin of the last 10 minutes on your breathing apparatus; taking your mask off in a job and putting it on a casualty’s face; multiple wears and entries with breathing apparatus; carrying an adult casualty alone; carrying more than one casualty at a time.

You can share ubers with strangers (not the driver) can’t you? If not then it’s a private hire minicab, so no.

Uberpool is active in London but hasn’t been rolled out in the rest of the UK. As a rider if you click the option the driver will pick other people up heading in the same direction. By sharing the cab you get a cheaper fare. All uber cars are licensed private hire vehicles (mini cabs) in the UK.
You can argue whether private hire vehicles are public transport or not, but local authorities consider them as such, just not “mass” public transport. Even though a car journey with 1 passenger is still a car on the road for a period of time, it still helps reduce the number of cars in existence. Many of my customers aren’t car owners, if it wasn’t for taxi’s/private hire they might become one.

if you get an uber, does that count as public transport?

Isn’t the point of planning to look into possible problems in creating something that wasn’t there before ?
Certainly some of the objections are laughable, but

“The proposal would severely restrict or prevent historical access to the Derwent Walk due to reflecting light, movement of bikes and people, aromas from food. Visitors could be trampled, kicked or bitten.

Horses were there first and perhaps the cafe could cause a problem for them that didn’t exist before.
I’d hope the planning process would look into any concerns properly, but also discount them if shown to be unfounded.

. Politics Is about normal people talking/debating/arguing with each other.

Not for most people, in many ways politics is increasingly becoming a personal matter, much like religion is in this country. The last thing they want is evangelistical politicaly active people preaching at them. Certainly with brexit in particular it’s becoming a taboo subject.

That sounds very much like the “people buy modern full-sus bikes to make riding easier” argument,

I’ve never found that much of an argument really, just something to discuss on the internet when your bored. It’s been mentioned before numerous times, but to complete the circle I’ll say it again. Adding a motor to a bicycle is the single biggest evolution in cycling, ever. It changes the entire concept of what cycling is, and is bound to attract huge differences of opinion.
Don’t mention uplifts either. Ever since bicycles were invented people have transported them to places they wish to ride. Uplifts use engines they don’t put one on the bike.

Test drive it, check under the engine. If it runs fine, then it will be fine.

I’ve always followed this rule and its served me well. 11,500 miles is so unusual its hard to put a price on this car. If its solid and there’s no reason it shouldn’t be, you could get 10yrs out of it with normal use. It’s local to me and if mrstaxi needed a car I’d certainly look at it.

There are some who can’t afford EBikes and they remain miserable.

Thats pretty sad 🙁. I hope buying an e-mtb when they can afford one makes them happy 🤗

    taxi25

3 Hours on an EBike can sometimes be more effort than 3 hours on a regular bike: As I’m going that much faster, I’m motivated and putting in more effort.
As opposed to on a regular bike going really slow, and getting bored and demoralised. There is also very little bike handling going on at 3mph or getting off and pushing.

    Is exactly this 😂😂😂

The gripe I have about ebikers saying they keep them as fit as normal bikes (and the mental flips and twists they go through to “prove” that) – can really be shrugged off by rolling my eyes and thinking “humans”.”

Honestly enjoy your hopefully legal E-mtb, but you do realise “most” people buy them to make the riding easier not harder.
