I suppose the thinking is that the complete set will be valuable over time.

Not “really” valuable because so many people collect the set’s. Valuable is real raritys, withdrawn coins due to mistakes ect. Or things that weren’t ment to be collected so are consumed but then attract interest for some reason.

The loads of 50p “collector’s editions. And because of that people collect them, so most will be in people’s draws or cupboards. There’s a Beatrix Potter set including Jemima who is the rarest. Still only worth £5-10 condition dependant.

I have occasionally bought stuff which didn’t fit properly on ebay. Call me daft but I can’t correlate “not as described” with “being a fat ****” so it never occurred to me to send back

Me to. We must live in a different universe from some people !! I’ve stopped selling stuff on eBay now after one to many t@ssers. It’s all given away sold of Facebook or donated to charity.

Only just picked up on this thread. The route you described would be fine after the bit of rain we’ve had (this is Wales !)
Post back up on this thread if it happens, I’ll certainly come along.

    Needs to retire first.

This no active sportsman should receive a knighthood or be made a Dame. Couple of years post career charity work or grass roots involvement should be the minimum.

no one’s saying it’s a waste of time, just that it’s not as good as watching the men

Completly agree, but according to the sexist poluce of STW if you don’t enjoy watching women’s sport as much as men’s your a sexist ? Glad that’s sorted then 🙄

I tend to agree. But with the odd exception as a spectator I feel the same about most women’s sport. It’s a bit if an Elephant in the room but that’s how I feel 🙁

sorry for being a bit dumb…..

Me to. Really I don’t think it’s a piss take or anything, just a bit of fun with the hope that it would be enjoyed by all in attendance.

between his pathetic excuse for an apology and the fanboy replies its hard not to vomit.

A guy cuts the course in a race and gets disqualified, and you care so much about it !!!!!!!!!! Why ?

Some people who lived on the route in the countryside were basically stuck in all day. Couldn’t even cycle anywhere even if you were fit and willing.

Sorry to dig this up again but I had to laugh at this 😆
Probably hundreds of local riders just ride onto the route and join in. Nobody’s going to stop you riding a bicycle on the route whether you’ve entered the event or not.

There’s one sprint climb where I’ve always pushed myself. Taken my time on on it from 1min25 to 1min05 so I’m definitely making improvements.

Regarding big improvements on Strava, that’s often down do the actual effort you put in on a particular attempt. Many people don’t like the pain associated with a 110% effort so seldom do it. Then along comes a day and you think %%%%it lets go for it. I’ve got stava pb’s many % points ahead of my next best time just because it’s a flat out ride till you puke effort, againt a normal “hard” effort.

I had to negotiate passage across a closed road in order to get to where I really needed to be.

You can cross the route on foot or with your bicycle easily, no negotiations required ? Cars are another matter, but the vast majority with a bit of planning could park their cars somewhere that gives them access to wherever they need to go.
It’s a great event and does bring benefits to S.Wales as a whole. For me trying to work is a write off !! But there’s always the other 364 days for that 😀

I’m not sure what a good invisitape job should look like ?
The pictures look ok on my phone. I always thought it was to protect the frame and you removed it before you sold it. If that’s the case a few bubbles ect is irrelevant. Saying that it’s the op’s money so his call.

The only safe way to undertake there – and TBH it’s probably what I would have tried to do – is to get well ahead of the lorry at the junction, i.e. sit well in front of it at the lights (which is of course illegal).

Or do as I’d do, not undertake at all just stay back behind the lorry. There’s no law that says cyclist’s “have” to filter to the front at every junction.

Big Sagan fan myself, but that was very poor. I’ve looked at it over and over and all I can see is a deliberate elbow. He’s very much gone down in my estimation 🙁

Probably the main point of such everyday items (stems ect) being 3D printed is to showcase the technology. An internal aerospace component doesn’t really mean much to most people , however fascinating it might be to engineers. For me unless it’s the magic bullet, strong, light and cheap I won’t be buying.
P.S That stem above is awfull 😯

Ta – its still in the ‘if I can summon up the enthisiasm’.

To be fair to johndoh you are coming across a bit “to cool for school”. I’d go it’s something you’ll remember for ever. Even if you find it a bit Meh it’s a box ticked.

How about filling the gaps full of epoxy resin then putting a rock guard over the top?

I do this whilst waiting for the new front triangle.

A good tip is to deface the security number on your MIL’s bank card. It will obviously still work in cash machines and shops but without the number phone payments ect can’t be made.

£132 seems a bit steep for parts, are those genuine bits ?
You can go much cheaper and not notice any difference.

No it isn’t, the UK is a great country full of great people. Get over your personal political disappointments and enjoy everything Britain has to offer you. The grass is definitely not greener on the other side.

I see. And how about the parts where he repeatedly said that protests should be peaceful, and cited the example of Ghandi?

Obviously he’s going to say that, no main stream politician would say anything else. And despite Ghandi’s message Indian independence and partition cost 100,000’s of lives. When people are angry they’ll look between the lines and see the message the want to see.

Well I had a listen and it did leave me uncomfortable. It started well, the right balance of acceptance combined with reasonable suggestions of how they’ll oppose the government. But his interview with the Morning Star and repeatedly stating his view that the government was undemocratic and illegitimate has to be unwise, especially before a protest labelled “day of rage”.
I’d actually prefer a Labour government rather than the mess we have now. But how would labour forming a government, not being the largest party be any more legitimate or democratic ?

But what’s the point in discussing with trolls that are just out to get a rise? I’m also pretty certain his whole online persona is a pile of keek as well.

I’ve no idea if Jamba’s online persona is fake or not. But his views are fare from extreme in the world that is outside the STW left wing bubble. To say he must be trolling because you disagree with some of his pretty mild views is laughable really. Try meeting some of the people I do on a daily basis 😯 . Now they’ll make your hair curl. But the thing is their still just normal people.

Not sure when father’s day became a thing in the UK. Certainly didn’t exist whilst I was growing up, hence I never thing of my dad around it (5yrs now). I’ll certainly raise a glass of his favourite whiskey come his birthday, but today I’ll just miss him exactly the same as I miss him every day.

    Politicising it again ?

so you link to 2009 essay that has nothing to do with building regs or fire safety, but is by a politician who you regard as the enemy.

Again, we have been going through a long period in which lobbyists have demanded that pedestrians be segregated from the streets with big steel railings; and though this may seem sensible in some ways, the railings produce perverse results. They add greatly to the hassle of getting around on foot. They make the streets less permeable to pedestrians – and by doing their bit to discourage walking, they may even be encouraging a fatal rise in obesity.

In any case, they are certainly a serious health hazard for cyclists, who are in danger of being crushed or scraped against them by vehicles. The same point can be made about some of the forest of black-poled signs that we allow to sprout in our paths, overloading us with non?information and creating a new collision risk to those who use the streets.

Can you imagine the guilt that guy whose fridge it was must feel?

well I’d be feeling terrible about the whole disaster. But guilt no, not unless I’d tampered with the fridge or was somehow using it as not indented.

DUP favour a soft brexit, which Im now hopeful for

You think so ? I know their language has softened a bit (in public anyway) but plenty of Ian Paisley still in the party.

Even better with May’s hard Brexit mandate in tatters, maybe the damage to the UK can be mitigated

Do you think the Tories limping along in with the mad dogs of the DUP is in any way mitigating damage ? I voted conservative hoping for some stability during the brexit negotiations. I’d prefer a full on Labour victory to what we have now.
Yes and well done to Corbyn he far exceeded expectations. Teresa May best I say nothing.

I’ve only just started watching season 1. I have to admit I’m struggling with it a bit 🙁 are we supposed to sympathise with Tony ? Because I can’t he’s such an unpleasant character !! In fact everyone is, I’ll stick with it though perhaps it’ll come to me.

A lady and chap in the street just now, lady says “have you voted?” He says “nah waste of time” he asked her, she says “I don’t know who to vote for” voter apathy.

I can beat this. Picked a seemingly sane woman up earlier who was unaware the election was today !!!

if VAT is too be charged on those fees so the less fortunate in our society can have a better life then so be it.

But is that how it’ll work ? If enough children have to leave private schools surly money raised through VAT won’t cover the extra cost to state schools.
Even if it does it’s not going to create much extra revenue.
