Generally people fitter and better at climbing are also likely to be better downhill too in fairness.

I once checked some of the quickest trail centre laps on Strava, almost inevitably top 20 laps were top twenty on the downhill segments as well as the ups. You’ll find odd exceptions but that was very much the trend.

Only issue is its missing the rear end and all fixtures/fittings!

I’d be out then, good luck finding the bits you need !!!

If it was a frame I’d want to build up and ride definitely. I’m pretty sure I’d be able to check if it was cracked or something. But if it was just old and outdated why bother even if it was free ?

I’m very uncomfortable with spiders, whilst Mrs taxi will pick them up with here bare hands 😯 I always call her to remove them. It’s work’s for me and boosts her ego out toughing the household tough guy 😳
Bats though !! she had to be removed hysterical from the Bat walkthrough at Prague Zoo 😆

On a quiet motorway surely you were able to see this guy from a considerable distance away and were able to move out to lane 3 in plenty of time to pass him safely on the right without wildly swinging across all 3 lanes or undertaking?

In the Op’s situation this is all you need to know. It’s what good drivers do automatically. I’ve never got this angst about middle lane hoggers, yes their a minor irritation but just use the outside lane and overtake them.

You’d need quite a saw to clear that 😯 For more managable debris I’ve got one if these

As recommended by Ray Mears and cuts beautifully.

They are very tolerant of tourist bad behaviour and would have given them many warnings before taking action.

Which doesn’t seem to be true in many cases. Especially the one the Op is alluding to. One if the charges against him is drinking alcohol despite being in a club licensed to serve it.

How long have you been waiting already ? 4-5 days without contact would get me concerned. A week and I’d be onto paypal, but I’ve no patience for inconsiderate sellers, if you can’t sell properly don’t bother 😡

Great thread 😀 I imagine the Op is holding his head at some of the replies lol. He was only asking if an admin charge was normal. Like him I’d be a bit suprised at being asked for one. Obviously wrongly I assumed retailers were paid to do warranty work, so you learn something new every day.
Just out of interest whats the problem and how much is the charge.

Kittens are always mental thats why their so much fun 😀 Castrating them means there won’t be as many other kittens that people don’t want :(. Not to mention when their older they shouldn’t get into so many proper big cat fights !!!! It’ll save you a fortune in vets fees sowing ears back on, reinserting eyes and such.

How do you do that embedding picture thing ?

I’d change the rim, mostly because the thought of having a tube in there (after years of tubless) would drive me mad. But I’d re-use the spokes and do it myself, so not £90 !! But if your happy running a tube I can’t see it exploding or anything. If it does don’t forget to post the injury pics 😆

Yes the Ben Needham case has been solved

Not 100%, a second hand death bed confession an a Dinky car aren’t real proof, they just create a belief.

I use a 720mm mt zoom low rise and 70mm kcnc wing stem on mine. But going to a 120mm fork makes a real difference on the downs. I’ve got a nice Bontrager 720mm, 15mm rise carbon bar for sale £35 collected if your interested.

No doubt in my mind Uber are on a path to driverless cars

I do very much agree with this, It’s defiantly part of their long game. As to the rest it’s down to choice black cabs and conventional private hire taxis will still exist even if their market share is reduced.
As an aside from a self employed private hire drivers perspective uber is a huge leap forward. The format gives me a much greater control of my working environment especially from a safety aspect. I don’t carry much cash, all my customers have traceable accounts, and uber guarantees my fares, so no runners. Passenger safety is hugely important but assaults on drivers by passengers far outnumber driver assaults on passengers. Since working with uber I’ve never had an “uncomfortable” rider experience.

If Uber are a mini cab company they should play by mini cab rules

But they do for the most part, at least im the Uk market. Where the problem might be coming from is their working ahead of legislation. Normally to operate in a town or city (private hire) you need a licensed driver and a licensed vehicle with calls coming through an operator licensed in that authority. It’s perfectly legal for me as a Cardiff driver (conventional private hire driver) to take calls in London providing the customer calls our office in Cardiff. Uber has been using drivers licensed from authorities outside London in London. They have offices in these towns and due to the way the internet works ride bookings route through these.
It seems Uber is reluctant to share these out of town drivers details with transport London. I’m not sure why but it’s nothing that more up to date legislation couldn’t solve.

     TFL ask for.

It doesn’t even look like TFL are asking for very much, but Uber are just acting like they’re above the need for regulation and compliance.

The bit I don’t understand is that uber drivers in london have to have a London private hire liscense.
    https://tfl.gov.uk/info-for/taxis-and-private-hire/licensing/private-hire-driver-licence
Transport London will have done all the criminal record checks and recieved the medical certificates before issuing a license. No license no driving with uber. I’m not sure what it is that Uber are withholding.
It’ll probably need to go to court before all the details are made public.

Using ludicrously complex, dodgy creative accountancy, and funnelling everything through opaque tax havens to say you made a loss, is very different thing fromactually making a loss

I love how you made that all up to serve your prejudice 😆 find me one bit of evidence that they actually do make a profit and I’ll eat my uber hat. They certainty hope to make money in the future but not yet.

The Government is looking at the GIG economy and quite rightly, its a huge swerve around tax and workers rights

I work with uber in Cardiff, all my earnings are paid directly into a bank account. There’s no hiding it, unlike with traditional taxi work were you could more or less invent your income.
Uber lost £2.8bl last year 😯 I doubt they’ll be paying tax for a while yet.

Has anyone apart from the court seen the cctv footage?

It’s a video showing a woman being seriously injured. Injuries that she died from. The court and anyone who has a need has seen it. It certainly doesn’t need to be published to further fuel arguments on the internet.

but do we really think that a judge and jury, faced with a motorist in a similar situation,

If they were driving an illegal modified car, and showed no remorse for their actions then very much yes.

Just wondering what would happen if the driver didn’t identify the passenger who did the slap. His story being giving a lift to stranger, vauge acquaintance “only know his name is Bob”, looking at the road didn’t realise he did anything, all that sort of stuff. Would the police actually be able to do anything ? 🙁

some are total **** nightmares and have a port you attach a primer tool too – these usually dont work

This with the Mondeo’s I’ve had. Usually needs to be tow started as a DIY remedy. I wouldn’t risk running out on the side of the road.

Fat and unfit? Good. My plan is to work hard at base training and weight loss over the winter, then start speed work early and as soon as it’s dry I’ll take that KOM off you.

Heads up to the attic to get CX bike down………

If you’re thinking of getting a clearner..do it!!

It’s all well and good saying that, but try finding one you can trust with a key and actually does a decent job. All the people I know with a good cleaner have this permanent smug look about them 👿

I’m thinking about getting the CX bike down from the attic. But then again perhaps not, I’m to fat and unfit to race this year (again). But never mind there’s always next season 😆

Boys are indeed boys and girls are indeed girls, but why should boys not wear dresses? Give me ONE good reason.

Because the world is full of arseholes, and perhaps 6 is a bit young to make a public statement about being transgender with all the discrimination and BS that sadly still goes with it.

My personal view is that six is too young to know that one’s gender is ‘wrong’ and that for an adult to suggest or encourage a child to dress, act or behave in any particular manner is harmful and potentially negligent. Any child will have phases of behaviour.

Pretty much my personal view aswell.

Emphysema – slowly being choked to death, have fun in your retirement guys.

Or like my father who never smoked, he died senile pissing and fouling himself in a nappie. Choose your poison, death often isn’t easy however it comes 🙁

I’ve never done it (although I should) it should be fairly straight forward to ride up and down Garth, across Taffs Well to Tongwynlais up the infamous Castle Coch, Forest Fawr woods to the top of Caerphilly Mountain (there’s a cafe at the top) and you’ve got the choice of routes from the top.

I’ve got a great route that includes all of that and more in a big loop. I’ll pick a day and see if there’s any interest on here to do it.

Whenever I fancy riding a “mountain” this is just down the road from me. Rideable to the summit as well.

As the threads come back to life.

London marathon is a race. Sportives are not

Whilst this is largely true, something like the S.Wales Velethon is run on closed roads, your timed and those times are placed in order 1st, 2nd ect. So if not a traditional race it’s very much a race of sorts.

Trump is many things but he’s not stupid, at least not like everyone would like to think.

I’d agree, what makes him look stupid is as a world leader he’s surrounded by even smarter people.

Definitely glad to be British 😀
Proud that’s a bit different, proud to try and be a decent person but not proud of everything that has gone on in this country or been done in its name. Can’t really think of another country I’d prefer to have been born in.
